Police Pull Nate Robinson Over, Dunk Champ Tweets
Courts, Legal, NBA August 19th. 2009, 11:45am
Nate Robinson of the Knicks was stopped by the police Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx. He was ticketed for driving without a valid license. On the surface, it’s not a significant story … except that he’s had his license suspended five times in 14 months. And he tweeted (since deleted, but recovered below) about the incident while it was happening. The Nets are tangentially connected to the story – New Jersey’s 1st round pick, Terrence Williams, who grew up in Washington State like Robinson, was in the car with him.
nate_robinson I am still pulled over and its been 35min they have me sit n in my truck like I dnt have s#*+ 2 do lol

Robinson quickly apologized on twitter, and tried to make it a media issue – but from the wording of this piece in the NY Post, it sure sounds like the team planted some of those unhappy seeds. The bummer for Williams is that you’ll remember he was strangely listed as a guy with potential character issues prior to the draft – and even though he was doing nothing wrong here (nor was Robinson, except maybe for having his windows tinted too dark), simply being in the car might be enough for some to speculate that he might be the second coming of Sean Williams.

If I was a cop and someone was “tweeting” while I had them pulled over I’d probably go Minneapolis on them.
