History Lesson: Peter King Falls In and Out of Love with Brett Favre
1-liner, NFL, Peter King August 20th. 2009, 3:45pmPeter King and Brett Favre, a Timeline: The SI scribe went from this in 1994- “Favre won’t be perfect. But he has proved he can carry a good team. And who wouldn’t give the moon today for a 25-year-old quarterback with guts and a golden arm, scars and all?” to this, last month: “I give up. … So now I’ve been wrong three times. I thought he was retired last year and he played for the Jets. I thought he was retired this year, and I said he’ll come back to play for the Vikings unless his arm is a problem. His arm wasn’t. And he still isn’t going to play. That’s why I give up. Don’t ask me anymore what I think about Favre, whether I think he’s going to play or whether I think he’s going to mow the grass for the rest of his life. I don’t know because I honestly don’t think he knows.” [Slate]

if dumbass teams continue to give him 2 year/25 million dollar contracts he’ll play every year til he’s 50

If you listen to Favre, he’ll only keep playing until his little girl says its time to stop.

If you put it that way, I can’t blame Favre any more. Who wouldn’t strap on the pads and get your ass kicked for that kind of money? Especially in this economy. I’m not even being sarcastic.

Deanna must not be a lot of fun to hang out with.

I don’t begrudge favre for continuing to play, I begrudge his need to out wishy washy Charlie Brown every year to build up the breathless anticipation for his inevitable decision to play again.

I concur. 1,000 times yes.
You think Brett and PK will still maintain a friends with benefits relationship or is it completely over? Personally, I think breaking up is like tipping over a vending machine. You gotta rock it back and forth a few times before it tips over.

I hate favre as a bear’s fan, but what no one seems to mention is that he had to retire to get off the jets and onto the vikings, otherwise there is a good chance they keep him and don’t take sanchez. Also, who can blame someone if they can get out of going to training camp and still get paid, he knew the vikings would still take him.
