Glass Tom Gets Shoulder Planted by Haynesworth; AFC East Foes Giddy at Thought of Kevin O’Connell
NFL, Video August 29th. 2009, 5:21pmTom Brady’s going to be OK. Really, he is. Probably. Also worth noting: Boston’s had some major injury issues since Brady went down last September: Celtics and KG, Red Sox and Dice-K, Tim Wakefield. Just sayin’. [WP, Globe, Herald]

Good clean hit.
TBL – Is the upgrade finished?
August 29th, 2009 at 5:30 PM
clean hit, although there seems to be a bit of driving him into the ground..not needed in a preseason game
brady’s a tough son of a bitch, he’ll be fine.
also, the red sox had lowell and beckett injuries during last years playoff run (also after the brady injury) which probably cost them the series
August 29th, 2009 at 5:30 PM
They also announced last night that Jets/Texans was definitely the “feature game” on CBS week 1
/shakes head
August 29th, 2009 at 5:39 PM
Saints up 31-0 in the 2nd quarter. And if not for a TD called back by a penalty and a stupid INT in the end zone, it could easily be 42-0.
I’m sorry, Raiders fans.
August 29th, 2009 at 5:43 PM
there is still plenty of time for him to get hurt. keep your fingers crossed.
i dont hate brady but if he goes down and Kevin O’Connell or Andrew Walter have to take snaps and the patriots are still pretty good then we will know that it is system not the player. and if they suck we will also find out that brady and cassell were both good and belichick is a luck s.o.b.
August 29th, 2009 at 5:45 PM
Decent throw by Brady, although he seems to be trying to go deep…not needed in a preseason game.
/if the offense plays at full-speed, so does the D
August 29th, 2009 at 5:46 PM
Here’s a head’s up for you, TBL. You might beat ESPN to it!
Brett Favre’s nephew throws for 549 yards
August 29th, 2009 at 5:46 PM
I don’t think being a tough SOB keeps your shoulder in it’s socket. At best it just means you cry less when it pops out.
August 29th, 2009 at 5:48 PM
Anybody ordering/otherwise illegally watching UFC tonight? I’m really looking forward to Age in the Cage II.
August 29th, 2009 at 5:49 PM
martin riggs was a tough s.o.b
August 29th, 2009 at 5:50 PM
Yeah, but he still cried like a little bitch when they killed that South African whore.
August 29th, 2009 at 5:51 PM
out of anger jay, out of anger. and love
August 29th, 2009 at 5:58 PM
I thought he was starring with L.L. Cool J. in that new CBS NCIS “drama.”
August 29th, 2009 at 6:00 PM
he moonlights as a clipboard holder in case the acting thing doesn’t work out
August 29th, 2009 at 6:06 PM
Oh yeah, I’ll throw in my other two cents:
Website is faster. Thanks TBL.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:08 PM
server change has taken place, next up is talking to the redesign guy. we may do some of the changes tomorrow night.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:12 PM
you should add noises. like when i click on a jump, i think it would be cool to hear a WHOOOSH! sound or and when we click to post a comment how about a “AAAWWWWW SNAP!”
/best. ideas. evar.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:13 PM
i got more from where those gems came from.
/no i dont im all tapped out.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:16 PM
I have not seen a wide receiver in the NFL have a game as bad as the one Louis Murphy is having right now. Sad thing is, he might be a starter.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:24 PM
that raiders 1st half vs the saints was hilarious. i think the 1st down tally was 16-3, New orleans
raiders offensive is absolute garbage
August 29th, 2009 at 6:25 PM
I’m sorry, Raiders fans.
Noted.
TBL – I know it is a light traffic day, but this site is loading a lot faster. Props.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:30 PM
I think the yardage was like 340-60. And it’s just getting worse. 38-0 now.
They were planning to play Brees into the 3rd quarter, but they benched him one minute into the 2nd quarter. Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas aren’t playing either.
And everybody trashes the Saints D, but they now have 9 turnovers in 2 1/2 games. If the defense can be half that opportunistic in the regular season, they’re for real. Saints have outscored their opponents 93-21 this far in the preseason.
And there’s like the 8th dropped pass for the Raiders today.
August 29th, 2009 at 6:53 PM
Joey Harrington walks the Saints down the field. 45-0. The Raiders have completely quit. The 2nd and 3rd stringers aren’t even trying to play for a roster spot. I’ve never seen an NFL game like this, preseason or regular season. Even the Lions tried occasionally at the end of last season.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:05 PM
someone forgot to tell michael hawkins about the raiders giving up.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:12 PM
DAMMIT mrejr. I knew I’d curse them. I say something and our rookie free agent cornerback does his best Jason David impression.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:15 PM
And Lynell Hamilton, P.J. Hill, and Herbert Donaldson have combined for 190 yards rushing today. I stand by my previous statement.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:15 PM
It seems like a commenter civil war is brewing. General Paolo vs the confederated tribes of self-appointed sports experts who live in douchebag dominated states.
There are many different motivations for reading the comments section on a sports-entertainment blog and if it comes to open war I’ll cast my lot with the General and hope for the best.
This was in the Bristol post…so much for LCD free…
August 29th, 2009 at 7:17 PM
pj hill was a stud in college. probably 2nd rd talent but he gets hurt and fucked up off the field one too many times.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:30 PM
I think the Saints would love to keep Hill. They’ll keep 4 running backs, and Mike Bell and Lynell Hamilton have probably beat him out. But with Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush’s injuries, he might actually make the squad as the 5th running back for the beginning of the season.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:30 PM
I like the idea of Paolo with followers.
August 29th, 2009 at 7:32 PM
USC starting WR is out.
Not that they don’t have somebody to back him up.
/not sarcastic about USC this time
August 29th, 2009 at 7:43 PM
He and Jersey (I think) gang-attacked me when I was talking shit about Notre Dame one time……….
August 29th, 2009 at 8:04 PM
When did Kenny Rogers become Greg Gumbel’s partner at CBS.
Wait, it’s Dan Fouts with gray hair and beard. Never mind.
August 29th, 2009 at 8:20 PM
At least he didn’t kick him in the head like he did to the Big Penguin.
Definitely. I’m legitimately excited about all 5 fights on the main card. And, you never know when one of these is REALLY going to be Randy’s “last” one. Looking forward to a nice night of fighting and hot wings.
August 29th, 2009 at 8:25 PM
Wouldn’t miss it, have 4 wagers laid down.
August 29th, 2009 at 8:33 PM
someone check on sparty … Steve Smith just dropped what would have been a def 90 yd TD catch. its the kind of drop – had 2-3 steps on defenders – that will have people asking if the NYG WRs are good enough.
August 29th, 2009 at 8:42 PM
tj goes over the top on 4th and one, jets and giants tied at 7
(jets drive was a short one – came off tipped-pass int)
August 29th, 2009 at 8:50 PM
be on the look out for krzysztof soszynski i have a feeling he is gonna destroy brandon vera
August 29th, 2009 at 8:53 PM
Just got back from my first fantasy draft this year…PPR league, snake draft and I drafted last of 10 teams. I went WR-WR-WR-RB to start, ended up with 1 TE, 1 QB, 1 Def, and the rest were WR or RBs. I think I’m screwed.
August 29th, 2009 at 8:55 PM
my first ever draft is tomorrow. i draft 8 of 10 so im assuming i have to take some risks to have a chance
August 29th, 2009 at 8:55 PM
what round do people usually draft defense? i want a good defense but i dont want to draft way too early
August 29th, 2009 at 8:56 PM
wow what an awesome td from san diego
August 29th, 2009 at 8:59 PM
gosh the jets look terrible. overwhelmed on both sides of the ball.
i’ll have to live through a 4-12 year and a no. 1 pick next year.
i’d go out and get brandon marshall if the price is right. they have no WRs that scare anyone right now. all their plays are dink and dunk (like they did with pennington).
August 29th, 2009 at 9:03 PM
whats the difference between the 9-3 team before favre imploded and this team? besides the qbs of course
August 29th, 2009 at 9:06 PM
When did all the players in the NFL start wearing mohawks?
August 29th, 2009 at 9:12 PM
You just don’t draft a defense until real, real late. The one that is supposed to be god (steelers this year) almost never turns out to be what its supposed to be, and after the top two or three it’s interchangeable. Draft Beanie Wells and live with the Dolphins or whoever.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:12 PM
and again, LOVE this new server.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:18 PM
finally, a nice play by Sanchez.
with that top 5 pick next year, i want one of the three stud DTs (Neb kid, mount cody, mccoy)
August 29th, 2009 at 9:21 PM
ugh, Favre had like 12 yrs of experience, won a SB, and he had Coles as WR. no coles, rookie QB, new coach, 3 new def starters …
someone (mort?) had a twitter showing the stats of Manning and Aikman and other pros in their rookie year. they were horrendous. i dont him to move mountains
August 29th, 2009 at 9:22 PM
braylon is 3-3 today
August 29th, 2009 at 9:23 PM
stuckey! great moves
August 29th, 2009 at 9:38 PM
Too bad preseason doesn’t count.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:39 PM
The performance of this site is remarkable.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:44 PM
how much did this kickass new server cost, anyway?
My house descended into a screaming and crying match today, with father in law finally trying to stand up for himself and his wife against me. I’m mean in real life.
August 29th, 2009 at 9:44 PM
jets 17
giants 13
at the half
sanchez redeemed himself late in the half …
August 29th, 2009 at 9:46 PM
big nog is actually looking young(er). couture is one of my heroes but i think big nog is gonna win via submission
August 29th, 2009 at 9:49 PM
Luis Guzman!!! I will share an injoke I have with the common law wife. I once convinced her that there is a Skinemax film entitled “Hard Infidel” starring Amber Smith and Luis Guzman, in which he is a misunderstood Muslim wrongly believed to be a terrorist operative. Amber Smith goes undercover only to fall hopelessly in love with him after a night of passion in which liquor touches his lips for the first time. Sorry to hear that things have gone wrong dirt, but at least you had time to improve your avatar.
August 29th, 2009 at 10:02 PM
Kim K, without makeup
There’s also a picture of her hind end, but in workout pants. I’m not sure those pants are going to hold together for an entire workout.
Luis Guzman lives near me, when he is not working. Not like next door, but in the same remote region of the country. He’s good people, though I don’t bother him when he’s shopping for groceries.

Joe Rogan’s beard destroys TSH’s hair.

i’ve already had two stolen feeds broken up, and no fighting yet. this sucks.
August 29th, 2009 at 10:29 PM
TBl: I’m wireless on my itouch in a hotel in Orlando and the speed is really fast. Good deal!
August 29th, 2009 at 10:39 PM
Tonight SUCKS dirt. Just found one in between draft picks. Got adrian peterson, rodgers, addai, roddy white, tony gonzalez, knoshown moreno, and beanie wells in a 12 teamer thus far.

Dumb question: was Fouts on CBS last year? When did this happen?
In fact, can anybody point me to where I can see this year’s commentary pairings?
August 29th, 2009 at 11:21 PM
fastest knockout in UFC history.

August 30th, 2009 at 12:01 AM
TST … what is that they wipe them down with or are they just making sure they have nothing on them?
August 30th, 2009 at 12:04 AM
I wanna hear about Dirt’s in-law spat.
August 30th, 2009 at 1:46 AM
TBL, love the new server man.
August 30th, 2009 at 6:14 AM
I didn’t know Fouts had moved to CBS either, but he is one of my favourites as an announcer as well. Fouts had been doing the regional Pac 10 games on ABC for long time years after doing MNF, when he was solid but had to deal with those Dennis Miller years. I am probably the only Dennis Miller fan on this site for MNF too, though for MNF it did not work for the average fan.
August 30th, 2009 at 6:32 AM
Dare we ask what the hell this was about? Aren’t you newlyweds? Wow why did you cut him down? Try to change the venue out of the house for any critical or risky discussion?
August 30th, 2009 at 6:38 AM
TBL Godfather was this your best week ever? I mean really, ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, and even a successful server upgrade? Talk about kickin’ ass!
August 30th, 2009 at 8:37 AM
I liked Dennis Miller during his HBO show days too. He had to scale down his persona too much during MNF. I really feel like a fool now liking him. I liked him because he seemed like one of the few people who wasn’t Hollywood phony, but his post-911 sucking up to the audience and “reinventing” himself 2 and 3 times just to hold on to his celebrity is truly embarrassing.
August 30th, 2009 at 8:40 AM
Fouts was trying to do play-by-play on ABC recently, and I thought he was terrible. He just didn’t have the pipes for it. Late in the game last night he said something about Dierdorf not being available last night and thanks to him for letting him pair up with Gumbel. So I don’t know.
August 30th, 2009 at 8:46 AM
More problems for RR. Sad thing is, I’d wager my life savings its like this at 110% of all major universities…

If Brady’s back gives out next, the Montana comparisons will finally be justified.

More problems for RR
you’re just linking to that to get more web hits for yourself. You have some sort of personal vendetta against michigan.
/magglio merkin’d
August 30th, 2009 at 9:03 AM
If Brady’s back gives out next, the Montana comparisons will finally be justified.
He also has take his team on a superbowl winning TD drive. Then we can all wait 20 years, and decide that he actually sucked, and that none of the accolades he received were justified.
August 30th, 2009 at 9:05 AM
Then we can all wait 20 years, and decide that he actually sucked,
It won’t actually be “US,” it will be some 18 year old kid who never actually saw Brady play a single down. He will also be inputting the information directly into the digital device imbedded in his penis, combining his two favorite activities.
August 30th, 2009 at 9:08 AM
since i’m talking to myself, i’d like to say how much I will miss DJ AM.
/who the fuck was DJ AM?
August 30th, 2009 at 9:10 AM
yeah its a big clusterfuck over there. and maggliomerkin has to be like 75 years old. cracks me up because hes such a curmudgeon.
August 30th, 2009 at 9:11 AM
Then again, even if his back gives out, Brady will also have to erase his Super Bowl loss as well as every pick he’s thrown in his Super Bowl appearances if he wants to be in Montana’s company.
