Radio Skirmish in DC: Mike Wise vs. Tony Kornheiser
1-liner, Media Gossip/Musings September 4th. 2009, 2:00pmMike Wise vs. Tony Kornheiser: Wise is a Washington Post columnist; Kornheiser used to write for the Post. TK is not a fan (“Kornheiser will occasionally call friends and say, ‘I hate Mike Wise.’”). Now, they have dueling radio shows in DC. Though Kornheiser didn’t engage Wise for this piece, here’s what the smart aleck said about the PTI host: “I definitely see myself venturing into the cultural wasteland of my mind. Tony will do Louis Armstrong; I will do Journey … People tell me he kids the people he loves, but after a while you just want that love expressed in a different way.” [Washingtonian]

I love PTI, and I always listened to Mr. Tony’s radio shows, but man Kornheiser is a tough guy to love. Kind of like Simmons – enjoyable from a distance, but you would want to kick his ass if you had to spend more than 30 mins face to face.

Mike Wise is a painful cliche.

kornheiser was fun to listen to/watch on PTI for a little while, but I just don’t have the energy to spend on his act anymore.

I was a fan of Kornheiser’s radio show. He actually read one of my emails on the air; I thought I had arrived. My disdain for the 4-letter caused me to not to follow him on PTI. Now I have no real rooting interest.

Did TK really call his friends to say “I hate Mike Wise” then hang up?

An otter wearing a fez and holding a balloon called to ask what kind of fucking sense this makes.

He might have meant that he’ll relate to a younger crowd (Journey?) than TK, who I agree is annoying as hell if you listen for more than 20 minutes at a time.
