Richard Seymour Doesn’t Seem Excited About Joining the Raiders
1-liner, NFL September 11th. 2009, 11:00amRichard Seymour: Probably doesn’t want to go from Super Bowl aspirations to one of the worst teams in the league. Al Davis may or may not be bribing Seymour with a large extension. Seymour is probably mulling that money vs. sitting out the entire season. He’s been an east coast guy all his life (from South Carolina, college in Georgia, pros in New England), so he’s probably just trying to mentally get ready. [Talking Points]

Yeah, that’s it. He hasn’t reported yet because he’s mentally preparing to set his watch back 3 hours.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:05 AM
mentally ready for…going from the best team in the league to the absolute worst.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:05 AM
as long as the trade can’t be voided, this is pretty entertaining to watch now.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:05 AM
Feel bad for the dude. He’s finally realizing the Patriots reamed him and he’s depressed. It’s just business, homie.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:06 AM
This is definitely the way to assure a warm welcome from the Raider Nation.

going from the best team in the league to the absolute worst.
The Billz may be worse this year.

Rodney Harrison said it best on DP yesterday: he’s going from the Patriots to the Raiders…would you be in a hurry to report?!
September 11th, 2009 at 11:08 AM
He must not smoke weed.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:08 AM
Man up and go play. Seymour was overrated
September 11th, 2009 at 11:09 AM
he’s probably sitting around with an accountant seeing how far he can stretch the $$$ he’s got now, since he’s in for a protracted battle. Fucking 5 day letter. What a shitty union.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:09 AM
So living in New England is the same as living in South Carolina? Because the registered voters would beg to differ.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:10 AM
The past few years, yes. But when he first came into the league he was a beast, he deserved every Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection he got.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:11 AM
YOU LIE!
September 11th, 2009 at 11:12 AM
This is smart. He gets an extension and we get to laugh at the Raiders for compounding their mistake (trade a first rounder for a declining guy, give said guy large contract extension, fall further into futility). I wonder if Al goes insane in an uncapped year?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:12 AM
i think it’s a shitty union, but the dude’s got to report. it’s two years as a raider, tops. finish this year, get franchised next, hold out, sign the tender with a clause you won’t be franchised again, and get paid where you want to be paid.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:12 AM
seymour IS overrated, then. howabout that?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:14 AM
If he was a few years younger, this would make sense. But he’s more valuable now than in 2 years. He’s been on a slight decline the past few years, and one has to expect that to continue, if not quicken.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:15 AM
it’s two years as a raider, tops.. and get paid where you want to be paid.
Guy doesn’t have two years to audition. He needs his last injection of fat money right now, because he stupidly took less last time. He will probably get extended by the raiders, sign the contract and the pull a Randy Moss (do nothing and hope to get rescued by somebody good).
September 11th, 2009 at 11:19 AM
the difference between him and moss though is that moss is a athletic freak of nature and seymour isnt
September 11th, 2009 at 11:21 AM
seriously? hell yea, seymour is a freak of nature. how many guys are fast enough to collapse a pocket from a 3-4 end and strong enough to slide inside and be just as effective?
too bad he just gets hurt a lot, has poor technique and plays utterly filthy.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:22 AM
bill simmons thinks the patriots will combine for 900 points. Offense & defense. What do you guys think? Is there defense going to be that bad?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:24 AM
meh…wilfork and warren are still there, an burgess and thomas should get a rush. mayo is ok. secondary is pretty weak, but a weak secondary is a belichick staple. i think they’ll be middle of the pack.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:24 AM
@spencer: he’d be nasty in a 4-3 defense.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:25 AM
call him a BWAHHHHHAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMBULANCE!!!
/Hernia’d
Drew Bledsoe laughs at the pity party Seymour is having. He got fucked with a high hard one WAAYYY harder than “Poor Richard”. Star of the team and league, highest paid player in the NFL, almost get killed on the field, loses his job to a “nobody” (at the time), then get shipped off to the Bills
September 11th, 2009 at 11:26 AM
seymour? nasty implies that he isn’t an injury prone, lazy, dirty piece of shit. which he is.
hopefully this is the last we ever hear of richard seymour, just like hopefully vrabel in KC is the last we hear at that knee-diving fuck.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:28 AM
spencer seymour maybe a great athlete but few are on moss’s level.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:28 AM
hopefully this is the last we ever hear of richard seymour, just like hopefully vrabel in KC is the last we hear at that knee-diving fuck
golf clap
September 11th, 2009 at 11:29 AM
Hes a buckeye. Thats your boy.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:31 AM
few are on seymour’s level too. again…and you did this yesterday with pryor…how many guys are quick enough to play end and strong enough to play tackle at a previously all-pro level?
maybe 10 guys in the league? MAYBE?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:33 AM
no way he sits out, it pushes back his free agency, he’s just holding out for an extension. i’m sure it sucks getting traded across the country, but that’s allowed under the contract you signed, and allows you to make tons of money, so either go, or don’t make the money. your choice.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:33 AM
i really don’t care…he’s not wearing the silver bullet anymore.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:35 AM
is this the same Richard Seymour your talking about Spence?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:37 AM
yep…seymour is a freak of nature, but he’s lazy and gets hurt a ton. but in his first few years in the league, he was truly dominant. still dirty, but dominant.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:37 AM
spence i hate you you’re an idiot. if seymour was on moss’s level no one would be calling him overrated. and pryor isnt a top 10 qbonly a bojack niny homer would say something that stupid.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:38 AM
mrejr…people were calling moss overrated in england, remember?
and i’m still patiently waiting for your response giving me 10 better QB’s than pryor.
it’d be great if you didn’t just delve into “whatever makes my argument convenient even though i can’t back it up with facts or a solidly defended argument” mode.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:39 AM
i dont hate you but you are an idiot
September 11th, 2009 at 11:39 AM
wow…total fail.
OAKLAND. but those redcoats hate moss too.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:39 AM
spence: ok, just wanted to be sure.
i think at this point if seymour wanted to be dominant he could be, he just doesn’t push like he used to, but in a 4-3 he’d have more opportunities to get the sacks and tackles.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:39 AM
i am an idiot…i’ll admit that.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:40 AM
Blimey, this Seymour fellow seems knackered.

September 11th, 2009 at 11:45 AM
now excuse me while i ingest 2,500 calories at lunch.
GOOD DAY TO YOU, SIR.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:45 AM
pryor isnt even the best qb in ohio
September 11th, 2009 at 11:46 AM
Moss IS overrated. For the physical talent he was given, he has not done what he could have with it. Took too many plays/games/years(?) off. Even in his 2007 season, after about 10 games, nothing spectacular and vanished in the playoffs (yes, I know about the SB TD)
September 11th, 2009 at 11:49 AM
tough argument since even Brady’s numbers went down once teams figured out the offense. if brady can’t throw moss the ball, what’s he supposed to do?
September 11th, 2009 at 11:50 AM
25 td’s in ONE year does not an overrated reciever make.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:56 AM
23 td’s, you get the point
840+ receptions for 13,000+ yards and 135 tds with one year injured in Minny and two years in limbo seems pretty good, imo.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:59 AM
25 td’s in ONE year does not an overrated reciever make.
mak: 24, but who’s counting.
2007 splits: First 10 games: 66 catches/16TD’s
Last 9 games 32 catches/8 TD’s
2008? Pedestrian #’s w/out Brady
September 11th, 2009 at 11:59 AM
Not to mention him getting double teamed on nearly every play, why do you think Wes Welker led the league in receptions?
September 11th, 2009 at 12:01 PM
Mak: I think he’s a great receiver, just think a little too much love for him, that’s all. The Raiders saga was a waste, and this year with the Pats will be interesting to see how he approaches it.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:04 PM
QB stats are only as good as the WR’s they throw to, WR stats are only as good as the QB’s throwing to them.
what QB/WR tandem would you rather have to start a team?
September 11th, 2009 at 12:09 PM
He got Dante Culpepper to the Pro Bowl. He also posted 1,000 yards recieving from a QB who hasn’t started since high school. That should count for something.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:22 PM
That should count for something.
Mak: I said he was a GREAT RECEIVER, I didn’t describe him as a bum
September 11th, 2009 at 12:29 PM
got a 1,000 yard year with kerry collins….
September 11th, 2009 at 12:45 PM
mak: you sound as upset as TBL the time people called Reggie Bush a bust
September 11th, 2009 at 2:43 PM
Late to the party here, but I’ll ride Moss’ overrated ass all the way to another Fantasy Championship, thankyouverymuch.
