Because It’s Fun to Dump on Those Sorry, Pathetic Raiders
1-liner, Courts, Legal, NFL September 29th. 2009, 1:15pmFight Club in Oakland: “Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson cooperated with a Napa Valley Police Department investigation last week, according to his lawyer, John McGuinn, telling a detective that he was struck by Oakland head coach Tom Cable and suffered a broken jaw. McGuinn would not go into specific details of what Hanson told police about how he was injured, but called the case ‘a textbook case of felony assault.’” Enjoy that six-figure settlement, Randy. We’ve also started and stopped JaMarcus Russell posts three times in the last two days. Gosh, he’s awful. Worst starter in the league. There’s nothing left to say about him. What a colossal waste of $60 million. [NFL Network, Russell]

I just wanted to destroy something beautiful…

It’s amazing that you can hammer a shitty ND team in a bowl game and get vaulted into being the #1 pick (though he did have a sick year before he went to the NFL). He is so bad. I just don’t understand why they cut Garcia. He cannot be worse than Russell.

I think JaMarcus is getting better.

Speaking of Russell, remember when a few years ago, everyone was saying that the future of the NFL QB is going to be the mobile one?
September 29th, 2009 at 1:22 PM
They aren’t a contender with either one. Winning a game or two more would just move them down the draft order, and then Al Davis wouldn’t be able to reach for somebody.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:23 PM
Worst starter in the league
but he has a cannon arm. same thing you like about Jimmy

I’m sure he wasn’t. But you also can’t start a 40 year old sextuple retread in place of the guy you’ve already paid 30 mill, and still owe 30 mill. It makes you look stupid, not that 11-27 for 62 yards doesn’t make you look stupid.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:24 PM
At least they didn’t draft Michael Crabtree.

They don’t even necessarily have to be mobile, just adept at feeling pressure in the pocket and getting rid of the ball quickly. But at Russell’s size, it’d help if he could carry dudes on his back and still get the ball out like Big Ben. Russell’s like a shitty Byron Leftwich at this point.

To put it in perspective:
LSU won the BCS title in 2003
LSU won the BCS title in 2007
JaMarcus Russell was LSU’s starting QB from 2004-2006.
/he’s still better than Brady Quinn

1-1 Twins Tigers Bottom 5.
/your welcome

@Jay – Was Russell the starter during that Capital One Bowl mishap? Not to bring up bad memories for you, or good memories for me…
Whoever it was, had a great game throwing to Skyler Green and handing off to Joseph Addai.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:27 PM
Well…Doesn’t Tampa Bay have 3 JaMarcus Russell wannabes on their roster? Irish, can you help me out? I don’t know that much about Josh Johnson.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:28 PM
Byron Leftwich’s nickname should be the rusty catapult. Jesus is his throwing motion long and slow.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:29 PM
neither do i Jay. Im a Bills fan attending Bucs games. I do know this about Johnson, he set the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision record for passing efficiency with a 176.68 career rating
September 29th, 2009 at 1:31 PM
SouvenirCity,
You mean this Capital One Bowl?
/not bitter, I swear
//he split time in that game with Marcus Randall, I think
September 29th, 2009 at 1:31 PM
JaMarcus Russell is Al Davis’s version of a shitty round of golf. 17 out of 18 holes are just terrible, but a great shot on one keeps him coming back. Great recipe for success in the NFL.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:32 PM
Yea, I couldn’t believe it when i heard seeing the suucess that has come out of guys like Manning, Brady, and Brees and then Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers come along and prove me correct again
September 29th, 2009 at 1:32 PM
Russell’s like a shitty Byron Leftwich at this point.
Now that is really saying something sanders.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:32 PM
great analogy.
and i’d take jamarcus over brady quinn any day.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:33 PM
Doesn’t Tampa Bay have 3 JaMarcus Russell wannabes on their roster?
teams seem to be stacking them up like cords of wood waiting for the first snow
favorite Russell stat I posted last night (thx Adam Schefter):
4th QTR Sunday:
# of sacks/Russell : 3
# of passing yards/Russell: 1

September 29th, 2009 at 1:34 PM
Does anyone really want the Raidahs to stop being idiots though?
September 29th, 2009 at 1:34 PM
Wow. Never seen that photo. Makes it sweeter for me that we got away with it. My favorite one is this.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:34 PM
Pitches for the Marlins, he’s got great stuff
September 29th, 2009 at 1:35 PM
$60 M Russell beat $60 M Cassell. People here are actually wanting Brody Croyle to start.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:37 PM
I always thought Russell was a bit of a hard-head and a flake even when he was Baton Rouge, but I really would like to see him get on a team that won’t waste him. Maybe he has a Jim Plunkett-type comeback in him, but I’m beginning to doubt it.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:38 PM
The Raiders would send home blank DVDs telling him it was game film. The guy is a lost cause.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:41 PM
I think NFL teams should adopt the, “Just because you need a QB doesn’t mean you necessarily HAVE to draft one in the first round that same year,” philosophy.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:42 PM
Whoa. Targeted ads on the sidebar now? TBL stepping up the advertising game.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:43 PM
But hayward-bey ran a 4.3 and was supposed to make a QB outta Russell. Russell jerseys were being burnt outside the stadium yesterday. He’s doomed and needs outta there fast.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:45 PM
@KC that really happened?
September 29th, 2009 at 1:45 PM
Alex Smith thinks this is stupid.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:48 PM
A lot of Saints fans freaked 4 years ago when they could have had Vince Young or Matt Leinart, but they “wasted” their money on a short, weak-armed free agent quarterback coming off arm surgery.
I admit, I was on the fence for that one.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:52 PM
I recall Russell being rather weak mentally back at LSU and complaining about the pressure. Then he went and led LSU to blast ND out of the water and he leapt to the top of many draft boards.
Physically he’s a freak. Mentally….he’s not. Though I’m sure he’s gotten plenty of competent coaching and training in Oakland, right?
September 29th, 2009 at 3:26 PM
Can anyone translate this quote from Russell following the Denver debacle? This guys must have been last in line for the intellegence genes.
“I know that the guys in my locker room are behind me,” Russell said. “When the fans get to that, it’s kind of where they seem like they’re fed up. But again, until you come out and play like I know we should and get back on track it will be a different story.”
September 29th, 2009 at 4:22 PM
Alls I know is, I want Football Claus to keep giving me JaMarcus twice a year for the next decade.
Come on, Al. Stay alive for a little while longer.
