The Roundup: Erin Andrews, College FB, Anne Frank
Baseball, College Football, Movies, NFL, Olympics October 3rd. 2009, 10:32am
One recommendation for tonight – watch or DVR Anvil: The Story of Anvil on VH1 at 10pm. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve got the DVR set and have heard nothing but great things about this movie. H/T on that one goes to Nug.
This is Rachel Stevens. The picture is from her upcoming 2010 calender. If you enjoy what you see here, feel free to check out the other months.
So it’ll probably be mostly me today with possible special guest appearances by Hernia and Mr. B. Lead. Send tips and what-have-you to alumnigonzo@gmail.com. And as always, follow me on Twitter, it’s where I derive all my self-worth.
The EA peephole stalker was arrested. I’ll just refer you to the post from last night. (The Big Meta)
USC journalism student tries out for the team as a walk-on and ends up making the team. Cool story. (Midwest Sports Fans)
9-time state championship coach Allan Trimble suspended himself for the remainder of the football season after it came out that he used an inillegible player last season. (Sports Extra)
There’s a 13-hour NHL live-blog going on today for the full kickoff of hockey today. That’s a lot of blogging. (NHL.com)
Shania Twain will carry the Olympic torch through her home town in Ontario. (Sportress of Blogitude)
Longtime Padres’ GM Kevin Towers was let go yesterday. (SI)
Jeff Garcia bashes the Raiders. Apparently, he doesn’t think JaMarcus Russell is ready. Talk about contrarian. (Sports Radio Interviews)
Brett Rogers will be Fedor Emelianenko’s first opponent in Strikeforce (CBS- November 7th) and he’s not worried. Even I’m scared. (Yahoo!)
Ballin – Chris Paul’s off the ceiling, one-bounce trick shot. (Ball Don’t Lie)
The only existing footage of Anne Frank is on YouTube. (Via)
A look back at the history of futility of the current incarnation of the Cleveland Browns. (FanHouse’s Back Porch)
A blogger “in the know” projects LSU to fall today. (Stupid Sports Blog)
Why the Yanks should bring back Matsui next year. (Kallas Remarks)
First of all – this movie looks incredibad. Second of all – Redskins and Browns games should use the bell function. (A tip of the hat to this handy 18th Century Gossip Guide.)
Thursday I was sitting around watching television when Tomcats came on. I decided to support site friend Jerry O’Connell and give it a full watch for the second time. (I think I saw it when it originally came out on DVD towards the beginning of the decade.)
Anyway, my roommate and I are sitting there laughing uproariously when Leaving Town came on. Talk about a blast from the past. I couldn’t believe I remembered the name of this band. After doing some research I found out they had released 3 albums – 2 original albums and a “Best Of” compilation. Honestly, there’s got to be a rule.
And here’s their Twitter. Feel free to support them.

Wow, going out on a limb there, huh?
I feel better about this game today than I did at the end of the MSU game. The more I think about it, the more we might be able to score on UGA’s mediocre defense. Don’t know if we’re gonna win, but at least I don’t think it’s a lost cause anymore.

hey jersey, did you see what your girl O’Day posted last night?
http://twitpic.com/k2hbc
if/when jets reach the SB, we should try to get her at the party
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:45 AM
The fall is going to be fun to watch.
It’s official, I’m starting to get old.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Holy mother of god. If Aubrey shows up at the (inevitable) Jets Super Bowl party, you better have extra security detail around. I don’t know what i would do with myself. Or to her.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Hey TBL… just going through her Twitpic photos.
Yes.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:51 AM
i’d pop her funbags with a ticonderoga pencil.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:52 AM
So. Uh, anybody like my new gravatar. I think I’m switching back to clausen for USC week.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:53 AM
There’s more ESPNBoston signs than anything else at Gameday.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:59 AM
I can’t make out the quarterback Jersey, who is it?
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:01 AM
J.P. Ricciardi out as Blue Jays GM. That’s two in less than 12 hours.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 AM
Toronto must have a bullseye on Kevin Towers.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 AM
sanders, to be clear, im MOSTLY having fun with the Jets and the super bowl. i realize the chances they get there are very, very slim. 15% chance, maybe.
BUT im 200% more optimistic than i was after that awful Sanchez performance against B’More on MNF.
fwiw, this will be their last game without their 3rd leading tackler from last year, Calvin Pace, who was also 2nd in sacks last year. it seems logical that the defense will get better.
ps – peep the sked after this: @miami, buff, @oak, miami, bye.
yes, im getting ahead of myself, but with a loss tomorrow, they still could be 7-1 going into the bye week. those teams have a combined record of 2-10.
with 2 of NYJ top 3 corners out tomorrow, brees likely will go nuts. 400 yds passing will not surprise me.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:05 AM
Ctrl-F5 cgb, I’m going with Janet Jackson’s rolling stone cover.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 AM
And Lance Moore is abck. And they are on the turf. And Pierre Thomas looks a hundred percent healthy. The Jets are so fucked tomorrow.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Jersey: should use this pic of her (NSFW)

WOW! Mark Herzlich just said that he is cancer free and the place just erupted. What a great moment.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:10 AM
Brett Rogers will be Fedor Emelianenko’s first opponent in Strikeforce
Is this some sort of Green Bay SuperQB, circa 2007?
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:12 AM
early, i like:
wolverines plus 3.5, V-Tech minus 17, Tar Heels minus 13, tide minus 16.5
spreads courtesy of america’s line
thoughts?
and herzlich being cancer free was reported a few days ago. shameless, heart-tugging crap on espn’s part, but that’s no surprise
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:15 AM
Yeah I dont care who you are, thats a great moment.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:19 AM
Don’t take VT -17, this is Duke’s Super Bowl.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:21 AM
CGB, you and I have similar thoughts to our games today. I just want a win. 2 TD margin would be good for the heart. I’m already preparing myself to relax.
I had to look up that Arkansas State’s team name was the Red Wolves.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:23 AM
Anyone have any ideas on a suicide pick for tomorrow? I like Houston, Indy, and Giants. Leaning toward Houston to try and save Indy and Giants. Down to half the pool.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:28 AM
Which was also made more insulting when those same B.C. fans cheered about Tim Tebow’s concussion–as mentioned in the previous post.
/I’m happy for the guy though
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:29 AM
Suicide pick: Bears
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:30 AM
I’m pretty sure that that is one of those ridiculously-stupid “original” nicknames that they had to come up with a few years ago.
/used to be the Indians

TBL pop culture alert!
Chris Evert and Greg Norman split up
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20309956,00.html
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:37 AM
When did Greg Norman become that guy from Saw?
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:42 AM
That Leaving Town video is a god damn emotional victory.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:43 AM
Red Storm is the worst former “racist” nickname out there.
Anyone going for UK against Alabama today? No? okay.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 AM
When did Greg Norman become that guy from Saw?
Jay: when he went to that Burt Reynolds “You got so thin everyone thought you had AIDS” diet
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 AM
What the fuck is wrong with Skip Bayless!?!?
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:44 AM
St. Johns moved from Redmen to Red Storm
Ark State moved from Indians to Red Wolves
UL-Monroe moved from Indians to Redhawks
/?
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:46 AM
Had to re-tweet that one.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:47 AM
What the fuck is a Red Wolf
What the fuck is a red Storm
Either a Red Hawk is a cheese mascot or Red Hawk, who was a Sioux chief. So still racist.
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:48 AM
Bruschi sighting. I need to go outside now.

October 3rd, 2009 at 12:20 PM
Anyone watching USF/Syracuse? Turnover party!
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:08 PM
TBL, I sent you an email about a Saints-Jets bet.
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:50 PM
So did I earlier this week with a post last night. $7 Saints -6.5 Paper Only.
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:53 PM
Great pick CRM in Rachel Stevens …I like your picks better than TBL’s for chicks, and even Duffy shows up occasionally with hot soccer WAGs.
