AJ Green: The masses are still agog over this sick catch by Green late in the 4th quarter against LSU. The knee-jerk reaction is laughable: “A.J. Green is the greatest Bulldog since Herschel. He’s better than David Pollack, better than Garrison Hearst and Eric Zeier, better than Champ Bailey. More than simply the best receiver in the country, Green might well be the best player.” Whoa. Pollack was a 3-time All-American and one of the best defensive ends in SEC history. Hearst, before shredding his knees in the NFL, would probably have been the best offensive player in school history if not for Walker. Green, a phenomenal talent who should flourish in the pros – we’d be thrilled if the Jets got him – has played in 18 college games and can’t possibly be in the discussion with the aforementioned players. Green is in the discussion for best WR in the nation … along with Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd, Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant and Alabama’s Julio Jones. [AJC]
