Jam-Packed Saturday Night Starring LSU vs Florida
Baseball, College Football, MMA, NHL October 10th. 2009, 7:00pm
Last I counted, there’s a lot of sports on TV tonight. There should be a little something for everyone. 8 of the Top 25 teams in the nation are are in action tonight. The main course has to be (1) Florida visiting (4) LSU. I’m guessing the announcers will mention Tim Tebow in passing. Maybe.
College football isn’t the only major sport going on tonight. The Dodgers and Cardinals are already playing. There’s a full slate of NHL games tonight. WEC 43 is on Versus at 10pm. Drew Barrymore hosts Saturday Night Live with musical guest… The hell is a Regina Spektor? Anything comes up tonight, pass it along to alumnigonzo@gmail.com. Drink safely.

She’s not bad.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:06 PM
If the Cardinals were smart, they’d throw a boatload of money at Chone Figgins this offseason to be their leadoff guy. He might score 900 runs batting in front of Pujols.

Underrated beer: Magic Hat #9. Mmmm.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:07 PM
My girl loves her. I couldn’t care less who they have on SNL anymore.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:08 PM
How is Padilla shutting down the cards? Someone explain this.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:08 PM
Vagina Spektor?
October 10th, 2009 at 7:09 PM
same here. She’s Tori Amos for a new generation. I sincerly hope to christ the Cardinals don’t give a ton of money to a speed guy getting up in ag.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:10 PM
Whoever pays Figgins is gonna regret it, not next year, but for the life of the contract.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:10 PM
The Cardinals suck pretty hard.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:11 PM

Figgins will not be a good signing. if you take out 2007 and the second half of this year, he’s very average.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:13 PM
It’s a great big meh. It’s like fat tire…decent beer that’s not even remotely worth the price compared to the alternatives.

How is Padilla shutting down the cards? Someone explain this.
Padilla has been this good since LA got him. They DO have the best ERA in baseball.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:14 PM
You mean besides being talentless and bat shit crazy? Because our culture sucks now. Pretty much all new mainstream music is shit.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:14 PM
The Beatles fault.
Explain.

to tori?
October 10th, 2009 at 7:17 PM
That’s the thing, though. What changed from Texas to LA? did he stop drinking or something?
Never underestimate the change of scenery factor. I would imagine Torre’s clubhouse is much more calm and friendly that whatever it is the Rangers had going on. Plus LA is always better for a Latino.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:18 PM
yea, back off of Tori Amos.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:18 PM
THE LEAGUES AREN’T THAT DIFFERENT BLAHBLAHBLAH GIBBERISH
Fuck that. It’s an honor.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:19 PM
By all accounts he was the entire reason texas had clubhouse problems.
And I think there are latino’s in texas.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:19 PM
EA toned down again.
Texas praying, hoping God chooses (or has already chosen???) them to win tonight.
Dodgers up 4-0.

October 10th, 2009 at 7:20 PM
I would figure texas would be better for Padilla since he’s from Mexico ha.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:21 PM
I loved Tori Amos back in the day.. I will have to check out SNL to see if theres any comparison.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:23 PM
By all accounts he was the entire reason texas had clubhouse problems.
And I think there are latino’s in texas.
Maybe he was the one who got Josh Hamilton drunk. And I meant to say Nicaraguans, not latinos.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:25 PM
oh he’s from nicaragua. Nevermind.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:26 PM
you have to ask Spencer to explain it, it is his opinion. I would not want to misrepresent what he thinks.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:26 PM
i just did a quick tori amos search to get refreshed on what she sounds like. and i can say that she is shitty music and if that other chick sounds like her she sucks too.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:26 PM
Spektor’s a helluva singer. One of the best lesser-known artists on the music scene today.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:27 PM
I still don’t understand the Beatles being responsible for Lady GaGa. And yes, music is dying. Did you watch the MTV awards? The only insturments that were played were held by fucking Green Day. The wear Hot Topic uniforms and fucking eye shadow now.

Did you see Piniero in the dugout? He’s totally coked out!!!
October 10th, 2009 at 7:29 PM
Texas just gave up a touchdown on 3rd and 21. Rushed 6 for some reason.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:29 PM
the only thing I watch on MTV is Pranked. I used to watch Real World/Road Rules challenge, but after the Miz it can’t get any better.

Do you think BallzDeep in Regina Spektor would improve her singing either during or afterwards?
October 10th, 2009 at 7:30 PM
Thanks jpq.
I’ve heard the name Regina Spektor, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a single song. Book Muse.

Ruined? Michael Jackson is way more responsible than The Beatles. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Stones all came after them. Trust me, its Michael Jackson fault.

I agree! Please send in Smoltz! And hey, it’s not like Koufax struck out 15 Yankees in the ‘62 World Series or anything. Division series wins against the Bonds Pirates is just as good.

Same argument can be made for The Beatles. Michael didn’t write most of his songs or his music either. He’s a dancer who can sing.

If you’re actually going to argue single individual performances, sure. Hell, Jack Morris had a better game than that Koufax game. But Smoltz has, what, 100 innings on Koufax in the playoffs? And they’re pretty much all great? Except for the one coming up of course.

smokey robinson (the guy who wrote and performed this song who also happens to be a musical legend also) said 10 year michael sung the song better than he did.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:49 PM
Actually, I think post-Grunge ruined more than likely by MTV and drugs most music has been crap. By 1998 even after all the success of the likes of Britney and the Spice Girls, the most popular music was rap and then country in that order, and if you are not into either you were on the fringes like me. The solid stuff since is few and far between but at least with some fine examples though I have yet to get an iPod until I see someone explain in front of me without getting too techie how it integrates easily into a car stereo, which is where I listen to music almost entirely.

I’m done with the Michael Jackson vs. The Beatles argument. Its ridiculous. You can count Michaels great records on one hand and he revolutionized nothing. Your making me trash MJ and I actually like him! But The Beatles?! Go back to school.

Smokey Robinson was overrated as a singer. He made more hits as a producer.

It wasn’t the Fillmore in 1970, but not bad. They didn’t embarass themselves.
Widespread was like a time warp to a Dead concert, I swear some of the same people were there. Fortunately, I was drug tested last Tuesday, so any contact high residue should wear off before my name is picked again (one month at the earlieast), In all, an enjoyable evening. October 10th, 2009 at 7:53 PM
Here’s the thing:
Music is now just about making money. Of course, in the past they wanted to make money, but now they don’t let an artist grow and mature. They sometimes just throw four random guys in a group to make a band, like they did during the late 90s. No one plays an instrument anymore, they all have some machine make it for them. I think NeYo and Timberlake play the piano, but name other “superstar” that wouldn’t fuck up if they were handed a triangle?
October 10th, 2009 at 7:55 PM
Still using a tape deck adapter for mine.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:55 PM
best part of Jack Morris’ 10 inning shutout was telling Tom Kelly to go back to the dugout when he came to take Jack out of the game.

October 10th, 2009 at 7:58 PM
Music was always primarily about making money. Now it’s just only about making money.
October 10th, 2009 at 7:59 PM

cabbage: yeah, some bands don’t age well, unfortunately.
Gregg played a surprise concert at my HS in the 70’s (77?) when he was married to Cher. He and Duane both did heroin rehab there, for some reason. That show was incredible. It was a surprise assembly, we sit down, the curtain opens, and there’s Gregg at a piano w/ a local band and Cher and a baby Elijah Blue on her lap. Private concert

October 10th, 2009 at 8:08 PM
I don’t think people listen to music anymore, otherwise I’d agree with you.
October 10th, 2009 at 8:08 PM
Aretha was never hot enough to be a pop star nowadays. Sad but true. She never would’ve had a chance.
October 10th, 2009 at 8:08 PM
I always thought Stevie Wonder was overrated. Ray Charles is the better blind black guy ha.
It’s different now, though. Franklin had an amazing voice, but who knows what music they would give her. She has some classic songs, and I don’t want to imagine her singing “Poker Face”

Note that he waited for the masses to pile in like asses as usual and drive the line, and he got +10, which I envy and compliment highly on his part.

JPQ I was going to be on your case for looking so lame, and I was going to ask you if you got any that night (well, on second thought okay I will now, and was she spicy too?), but now I see the brilliance of the Consigliere at it again in his early days of going low profile with the look so as to not attract attention for sake of his lucrative underground business dealings.
It was many years later of course that our Consigliere JPQ had arranged various secretive dealings with even the likes of OJ Simpson and Rick James at his table at a popular club in Buffalo.
Some day perhaps well after launch of JPQ we’ll be able to make a documentary or mockumentary?
For such historic deeds I will give him a retro +15, sort of a TBL Lifetime Achievement Award, in aggregate for sake of estimation of the good dirty deeds done dirt cheap in his heyday, for like he explains the rest of the details must remain classified for sake of our Mission here.

jpq – Yeah, the US is up 12-9. Stricker was making everything in the afternoon session. He basically beat Ishikawa and Yang by himself. Furyk and Kim won their match, but AK is nowhere near his Ryder Cup performance from last year. Mickelson and O’Hair got beat. On the plus side, Michael Jordan has been spending a lot of time with O’Hair, so he’s got that going for him, which is nice.
October 10th, 2009 at 8:41 PM
Or the guy currently on The Unit. Or Agent Doggett on X-Files.

Oy. Nevermind, that game is over. Its going home I guess.
October 10th, 2009 at 8:50 PM
Oregon even at -5.5 was my best pick of the day so far. 3-3 so far today for paper +$10.35.
Wins were Houston/Miss St U69, Oregon -5.5, and even Duke.
Losses were awful Indiana +7 and E Mich +23, and interestingly by a point Auburn/Arkansas U66 after Darrell’s and God’s vaunted Auburn squad played like absolute shit.
/But we still have LSU and Florida in the SEC though the rest of our teams SUCK HIGH HARD ASS!

US soccer game at 10, closed circuit only, which blows balls. At least I have a reason to go to MSG and watch it on a 105inch flatscreen. Anyone else tuning in?

October 10th, 2009 at 9:45 PM
dont do halftime wagers, Mike.
i really, really want the jets to get jordan shipley in the 4th round of the nfl draft. if he wont fall that far, 2nd round (no 3rd rd)
Jets draft will be interesting. if Edwards is a hit and they sign him, they dont need to draft a WR 1st. if edwards sucks, dont sign him and take one of the many stud WRs in the 1st.
i still think they need a pass-rushing DE or a backup to Jenkins in the middle … he wont last forever.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:46 PM

John Saunders – this is a halftime highlight, not the Sports Reporters. I don’t need to hear your fucking opinion.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:53 PM

October 10th, 2009 at 9:56 PM
no.
IF Edwards is good and they sign him, i like adding shipley. think he’d make a great 3. think he could be like wes welker.
IF Edwards stinks, then i think the WR crop is good enough that they take a stud in the 1st round. I dont think shipley is a 1st round ’stud’

A tennis stadium? Really? That’s the best the NBA can give for outdoor facilities?
October 10th, 2009 at 9:57 PM
I’m aware that the biggest problem (for us) has been the dismissal of a few gay Arab linguists, yes.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:58 PM
Edwards won’t stink. He might not be a star, but he’ll be decent/good in a few weeks.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:59 PM
Racist.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:59 PM
sportsguy33 “7 straight retired for Vicente Padilla” – reason No. 819 why the National League is Quadruple A.
Reason Number 819 why Bill Simmons has jumped the shark.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:59 PM
Lito is hit or miss. He’s either all over the place, breaking up passes or he’s being burned over and over again by the #2/3 receiver.
I’m really hoping that edwards works out because I don’t wanna burn a first rounder on a WR. We need a DE more than a WR. Ellis is getting old and slow.
October 10th, 2009 at 9:59 PM
Braylon is going to be fine. He’ll go back to being a legit WR1 for the Jets. I’m awfully excited to see how it works out, and I’m not even a Jets fan.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:00 PM
What he said.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Am irrationally excited about Simmons basketball book.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:01 PM
huh?
October 10th, 2009 at 10:01 PM
Eric Decker will be the steal of the draft. That kid has Ed McCaffrey written all over him.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:01 PM
great opening drive by Florida.
more runs by Tebow. defense has no clue what’s coming all because of that facemask on (i think it was) 3rd down
And Chad Jones is down.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:02 PM
Because he’s aware one league is significantly better than the other?
Am irrationally excited about Simmons basketball book.
No, because he is a dickhead about it. I readily accept that the AL is superior. Of course, they only have 4 of the last 8 titles.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:03 PM
He’s scrappy, sneaky fast, and has a non stop motor?
October 10th, 2009 at 10:03 PM
I don’t think Braylon Edwards is a bad player, but I see Sanchez struggling to get him the ball, so you won’t know what you really got. And if Sanchez does struggle, you could see Braylon become disinterested as the season goes on and then the drops will start popping up again.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:04 PM
There was an ordeal awhile back (and apparently still going on under Obama) where we were already (don’t know, assume we still are) low on military people who could translate in the Middle East and a number (if you Google it multiple different incidents come up) of gay Arab linguists have been dismissed when those guys probably, you know, could be useful.

well, that and they generally dominate interleague.
I LOVE pitchers hitting and the moves managers have to make. And I’m sure I would love the DH if I was a fan of an AL team. But quit shitting on the majority of the league. (That was for Simmons, not youse guys).

Tebow= Alex Smith. Never draft a Meyer QB. Total gimmick offense.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:26 PM
interesting as hell to hear that if texas loses, then we might see an All-sEC title game.
Florida-Alabama twice?
October 10th, 2009 at 10:26 PM
Tebow is going to be absolutely awful in the NFL…he never has to throw to a WR that has a defender within 10 yards of him

ballz – is oakland your NFL team, or san fran?
The Niners. Jerry Rice is my Jesus, Steve Young is my….. Allah.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:28 PM
interesting as hell to hear that if texas loses
to who, exactly?
October 10th, 2009 at 10:28 PM
tebow doesnt want to be a TE. or an H-Back. or anything but a QB.
and you know there isnt a starting QB that wants to hear Tebow’s name called on draft day.
he instantly becomes the most popular kid in town, and the second the starter has a bad game … the rumblings will begin
October 10th, 2009 at 10:28 PM
So you’re comparing here to where warlords are that steal kids for militias and then attack the goverment and steal supplies?
October 10th, 2009 at 10:28 PM
well the difference here is that the haves work for what they have and if you really put your nose to the grindstone and work you can be a have and not worry about being forced to give the stuff you work for to the have nots.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:29 PM
Tex has to, i believe, travel to OK State. if Bryant is there …
also, Tex has to play OU next weekend, and Bradford is back…
UT hasn’t exactly looked unstoppable …
just sayin’
October 10th, 2009 at 10:31 PM
and the rumblings will continue until they see tim tebow try to quarterback an NFL offense and make a throw when there is a defender on all of his guys
October 10th, 2009 at 10:31 PM
Tebow will end up in New England.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:32 PM
We do it with laws because we have civilized mechanisms. To mrejr, you don’t think warlords work? You keep acting like the top one percent of this country (that has 23% of the wealth instead of like 8% three decades ago) worked for that money. And I’m sure they did work. But they also control the wealth generating mechanism. Destabilized nations always have our current problem, way too much money in the hands of way too few people.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:32 PM

Tebow is going to make one hell of a tight end in the NFL.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:38 PM
not here they dont. because too many rational people own guns to let a warlord be effective. and those people all arent super rich. all im saying is you shouldnt be forced to give up the money you worked for because someone doesnt have it. that is bullshit.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:38 PM
all true, dirt. not sold on texas from what ive seen so far. hell, other than alabama and Florida, nobody really looks awesome, IMO
virginia tech could be close, maybe USC (but still have a freshman QB!)
October 10th, 2009 at 10:39 PM
I’m not sure, but they paid a shitload more back when we had a middle class that could function without mortgages, credit card debt, and student loan payments, and everyone remembers the fifties as such a happy time.

Mike, can’t you name 10 NFL teams with awful QB’s? At least one of those horrible teams (Jax) must be willing to give this guy a season or two at QB, I would think.

If it hasn’t been said already, LSU’s offense is brutal. This team is losing 2-3 games this year at least.

October 10th, 2009 at 10:47 PM
I mean, basically, you’re saying that the economic system you support created a world where a majority of people can’t make any money, so those people should be fucked, because they can’t make any money in the system propped up by the rich. I’m sure the bottom 50% would love to pay more taxes.

For your purposes, they’re the second best team in the AFC South, and a longshot superbowl contender. For the rest of us, they’re a hideous stinkbomb just waiting for half of an implied reason to quit on Jack Del Rio for the 2nd straight year. We’re biased too.

Intelligence, ambition, skill, creativity, luck — there are a lot of reasons why. Not all men are created equal. Nor should all people’s salaries be equal either. Some people are better at creating wealth than others. I don’t know why this is so hard to understand.
Stephon Marbury, somehow, makes $20MM per year. I don’t begrudge him this, I don’t want him to pay my rent, and I don’t think he should have to pay a smidgen higher a tax rate than I do. He earned that money. Good for him.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:51 PM
I work with political groups in real life sometimes because I do think, generally, that it’s possible to reason with people and change people’s minds about things. But in my experience, the internet is not the place for that, and especially not in the comments section of a sports blog.

How does Jefferson not throw the ball? Wow.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:59 PM
By the way, USA and Honduras 0-0 at half.
Analysis from a non-soccer expert, but a casual fan. Honduras played its balls off the first 25 minutes and had a couple goal chances but were thwarted or just effed up. Final 15-20 minutes, USA possessed and passed the ball better. Charlie Davies had a header saved, got the rebound about four yards from goal and sailed the kick high. USA had a misssed header early in the game that went high. Too bad.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:00 PM

October 10th, 2009 at 11:01 PM
You seem to think that you live autonomously, alone. You live in a society. Your society is the reason wealth can be generated. The wealth generating mechanisms are so far away from most of that 50% that it might as well be in Africa. We used to think that people should be able to go to college, get a decent job, have a house and a family. That is now so hard to do even compared to a few decades ago (and maybe that was going too far). I think keeping that 50% comfortable enough that we don’t have warlord situations (which is, more or less, what gangs are in many cases) is a good thing.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:02 PM

Michigan scored… totally shouldve bet Michigan +8 instead of LSU +10. I blame you JPQ for talking me out of it.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:20 PM
Paolo, seriously, go fuck a spike.
/Seven’d
October 10th, 2009 at 11:20 PM
In fairness to Paolo, the first time we interacted he wanted all gay people to be killed (I might be misremembering slightly) and we argued about it quite alot (when I was unaware of Paolo’s ways). Now I’m like his child.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:20 PM
Can anyone on Iowa figure out that Denard Robinson is going to run the ball on every single play? I don’t even know if he’s ever handed the ball of to anyone in any game this year… Ridiculously bad.

They speak for themselves you fuckin’ piece of serious shit. You could change the situation of course by actually posting something insightful about sports, but oh no you are too busy politicking and getting angry when I or others call out your lame Republican ass.
Just go fuck yourself again in your adopted Bumfucktucky like we care please.

GSG got me to watch Fringe. Pretty happy with Fringe.

Great then go broke and spend the rest of your life eating your high harded bullshit? Boo-yah!
You guys should try heroin. It’s FANTASTIC. That’ll get ya dancin close.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:25 PM
I’m watching Wanda Sykes on HBO. She’s pret-ty pret-ty pret-ty good
October 10th, 2009 at 11:25 PM
TST – I’m very happy for you and for us Fringers. Kick ass show. Worked late on Thursday so I haven’t seen the recent one, please don’t spoil it for me. Ha ha.
GSG- I totally agree with what you’ve said.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:25 PM
Man if Tech could play a lick of defense, they’d be nasty. Serious big play potential on offense from any number of guys.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:26 PM
This is way over-simplistic.
It mostly made sense in 1846.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:26 PM
I know. I have the balls to show up after my team’s offense shows its ass to the entire country, and this conversation is even more useless than Jordan Jefferson.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:26 PM
fringe is awesome. I’m happy as long as the new girl just stays away. It sucks that they got rid of Charlie, though.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:26 PM
Yeah one ought to be sooooooo intimidated when that douchebag’s game is this lame too? Sarah Silverman hot? You have to be kidding me, but apparently the standards in Bumfucktucky are lower so good for his lame shit-packed ass.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:26 PM
*Fist bump for fellow Fringe fans*!
October 10th, 2009 at 11:26 PM
Hey guys. It’s the internet. Just in case you forgot. Might want to chill out.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:27 PM
NDub: You are the geek TV show guru around here, from what I can tell. Should I be watching Fringe? Have you been watching FlashForward? I watched this weeks episode earlier and don’t know what to think about it.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:27 PM
I agree GSG, Charlie getting body snatched was super sad.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:27 PM
woops, sorry to ruin it for ya NDub haha.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:28 PM
If there is a God, we won’t get two Michigan Quarterback Heroes.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:28 PM
SHIT. I forgot that was tonight. I love her standup (I’m kind of sad she’s become political, because I’ve been a fan for a long, long time and now it’s gonna be “you like that black lesbian”) ah, on at midnight again. I have no idea if you’re being sarcastic.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:29 PM
I’m two episodes behind on Fringe, but I like that show a whole bunch. The only thing I was is that the lead actress’s name was Jana Torv instead of Anna Torv.
That show’s the shit though. Even the wife likes it, and the wife hates TV shows.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:29 PM
gfunk, youre not talking to me but I’ll answer anyway. Love the premise of Flashforward but I was left less than pleased with the first few episodes. Im hoping it gets better. Im waiting for people to start trying to change their futures, just to see if they can.

October 10th, 2009 at 11:29 PM
Oh yeah GSG you are so intimidating with your GOP talking points and sooooo reasoned with such high standards in Bumfucktucky where you live, the cradle of Western culture as you know obviously, and such exotic liaisons as Sarah Silverman.
Yeah it’s not even a fair fight when you have game like that.
I’d be happy for many reasons to meet you in Indianapolis or Philadelphia.
Or do I have to get someone to find you?
How’s that for game? If your game is truly real, it’s your choice fucker.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:29 PM
First sentence = No sense.
Paolo apparently is the most attractive guy around, that’s why he spends all day and night on a sports blog trying to start arguments with people he doesn’t know.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:29 PM
CONNOR CASEY AGAIN!!!!
2-1!!!
October 10th, 2009 at 11:29 PM
Uhh, Sarah Silverman is hot. I’d get lost in that bush like Charlie Sheen in Platoon.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:30 PM
Drink man is a really funny bit. And the deleted scene reel from Clerks 2 with her cameo is priceless.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:30 PM
The Dad is gold, makes it not entirely just the new X-Files. Flashforward is definitely worth watching, but I can’t imagine what they can do to make me interested for more than acouple seasons (and Fiennes? eh?)
October 10th, 2009 at 11:30 PM
conor casey again, 2-1 with about 20 min left
October 10th, 2009 at 11:31 PM
Yea, paolo, I’m intimidated by you. That’s why I fucking talk back, asshat.
But you know, threaten people that think differently than you. Nice strategy.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:31 PM
Holy shit!
October 10th, 2009 at 11:31 PM
This was hilarious!
October 10th, 2009 at 11:31 PM
Just watching college football like everyone else only to be interrupted again by your inane commentary and game, so what’s your problem?
The fact that others like me don’t agree with your political views or point out how lame your game is? You sure as fuck would not be so defensive if you had any game, but here you are.
I’d be happy to leave well enough alone, but perhaps you not so I will make sure to escalate? Your call chump.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:31 PM
Thanks. I’ll take pride in that.
I think you should watch Fringe if X-Files or CSI have ever interested you. It’s a hybrid. Yes, I have watched FlashForward. Like it a lot. If you haven’t seen it from Ep. 1, you should. Go to Hulu.com and get caught up. You’ve only missed a few eps.
As far as Charlie getting snatched, though, I’m not sold that he’s completely gone. I mean… maybe there’s a way to change it. We’ll see. SEason is young.
By the way, Iowa students, why in the fuck are you rushing the field? You just beat an unranked team. Retards.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:32 PM
TST – What was Seth McFarlands role on the show anyway?
October 10th, 2009 at 11:32 PM
Rich Rod totally deserves criticism for starting Robinson on that final drive. Tate’s been there before. Robinson has had what, 30 snaps in his college career?
Bad move, Rich Rod
October 10th, 2009 at 11:32 PM
There’s no way Paolo is real. His character must be the work of some brilliant satirist. Most likely Clown.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:33 PM
That’s how I’ve felt about it too. The first few episodes have been interesting, but the acting and writing hasn’t been great. And I’m just not sure where they’re trying to go with it. But I’ll keep watching for a few more weeks.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:33 PM
DEFEND THAT ONE MAGGS..WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?? TERRIBLE CALL TO BRING IN DENARD FOR THAT DRIVE. GOD DAMNIT
October 10th, 2009 at 11:33 PM

October 10th, 2009 at 11:33 PM
taguchi: no, she was good. First half hour was about being black w/ Obama in the WH, then into her wife having kids and how kids suck, then into guys and why their dicks shouldn’t work when they are older. A LOT of funny lines, imo.
A lot funnier than Lisa Lampanelli (who is hilarious for about 10 minutes, but not 90 like this show)
October 10th, 2009 at 11:33 PM
The Dad is gold, makes it not entirely just the new X-Files
The Dad? The Dad? You sir are an asshat. You can either call him Walter, or you call call him Lord Denethor. The Dad. Get the fuck out of here. There’s nobody having a better time being on a television show than John Noble.
/that’s faux outrage
October 10th, 2009 at 11:34 PM

Also, I have no problem with putting Denard Robinson on that drive. First drive he comes in, he takes them down the field in three minutes for a TD. Tate Forcier looked completely baffled by the Iowa D and couldn’t move the offense. I have no problem with Rich Rod riding the Denard Robinson momentum from the previous drive onto that final drive. No problem at all.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:37 PM
DONOVAN ON A BITCH!!!!
3-1
Fuck! What wasn’t this game televised!! I’m watching faces of Earth on the science channel and Dodger highlights over and over again!

Guys, its always best to just ignore the Paulo posts and not address him directly. Even if he tries to engage you. It is pointless.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:38 PM
ballzdeep,
no, it was on closed circuit tv only.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:39 PM
So Iowa had more trouble with Northern Iowa than they had with that Michigan team that beat Notre Dame. And that Michigan team struggled just as badly with Indiana, which got the piss beaten out of them today by a Virginia team that lost to William and Mary.
/I love college football
October 10th, 2009 at 11:40 PM
no, it was on closed circuit tv only.
Thanks. I know. I meant to type “why wasn’t this game on tv.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:40 PM
Me too. I believe ABC hopes for the LOST audience to migrate to FlashForward, since this is the former’s last season. Don’t think it’s a coincidence that two LOST actors will play big roles in FlashForward.

Anyone checking out the no-defense game in Tallahassee?
October 10th, 2009 at 11:41 PM
The story itself is real interesting, what you’ve guys have said makes me kind of think of “Jericho” which I sadly admit I watched all the way through (terrible acting, terrible dialogue) but I was so interested in where it was going.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:41 PM
Hey Dirt, how are your in-laws?
Everything is water under the bridge right now, luckily. No visits, and no trouble since I threw out the aunt and uncle two Saturdays ago. I had to go over there and apologize in person.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:42 PM
Note this is what set GSG off if you check the record, which it appears yet again was too close to the mark for him. He has yet to deny not being a GOP shill or lobbyist or what have you with an ulterior motive for posting here other than to discuss sports, which of course he never does no matter what he thinks of my opinion or yours on any matter.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:42 PM

JPQ, my backspace button is ruined, trying to think of a way to horn myself in there. I almost called Whitlock “slightly overweight” just to divert attention from those two.
Besides, TBL laid down the law, as usual.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:43 PM
Ughhhhh this is my least favorite new SNL skit. Gilly. Why do they think this is funny? I even like Kristin Wiig but this is so awful.
October 10th, 2009 at 11:43 PM
You ninny bojack homer can’t keep up with the big boys because you are too whyyyte? Yuo should be aware that you are only good to receive high hard ones while you root for the Patriots and the whyyyte favorite the Boston Red Sox. They had bad timing on an unannounced visit, and I knew they wanted to re-hash my blowup at my parents in law (which I’m over). They came on a Sunday AM, when we’d been up all night with a bad baby. I ran them the fuck out before their coats were off. My wife was mad/sad, but she was ultra tired, so after the screaming monster went to sleep she went right off and slept for a few hours.
I went on my own to apologize, but it was pretty uncomfortable. They’re old, pompous, catholics, so I got an earful for being rude to them.

Being a younger yet old-time Lefebvrian Roman Catholic myself (rejecting in full Vatican II and any reforms for the mass since 1959), don’t let them try to guilt-trip you for life. It’s an old evil game those Roman Catholic types try to play with others, and I have told off plenty in my life and will continue to do so happily.

Never seen an episode.
They hooked me from episode 1 season 1 with the underwater crotch cam. I watch season after season of that bullshit. I can skip a lot, given my tremendous DVR skills, but I get the gist.
I never watched a reality show on MTV except Yo Momma. And a little Jackass.

It is absolutely the best no question and no contract unlike Verizon who I hear found a way to fuckup their comparable offering known as Fios. And then Comcast sucks ass too except now at least they give ESPN360 for no additional charge.

Cuban does come off as a puss. And as far as I’m aware, SI is a still a much bigger name and HDNet.
I got HDNet about a year ago after DirecTV fucked up my HD installation about 5 times. They gave me about $1000 worth of credits/free channels etc. One of the times they gave me that and their HDTheatre and about 10 other stations I watch very little of

I’m glad for the FSU-GT lightning delay. CFB has officially ruled my day for 12 hours.

mostly not, but the simplicity of Jacob/man in black “do you know how much I want to kill you etc.” never ceases to make me want to Ted Williams myself until late January.

I heard Comcast was buying the majority portion of Hulu so they could start charging for content. True? Comcast is so evil.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:03 AM
At least we can agree and be happy that USA qualified, and in difficult fashion on the road in Honduras no doubt against possibly the strongest Honduran team ever!

cj: Comcast is trying to buy NBC (and I think 30% of Hulu)

I’m going to check into the costs for WC 2010 in South AFrica.

I heard Comcast was buying the majority portion of Hulu so they could start charging for content.
I thought it was NBC Universal that was buying it. Anyway, somebody’s buying it, and if they start charging for content, a new free one will pop up soon enough.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:05 AM
I wonder if this has anything to do with the looming NBC Universal deal? If this damn current Obama and Democrat government does anything right for once, it should be to block this merger.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:05 AM
Why arent these U.S. World cup qualifying matches televised?

Regina’s good.

Bay Bay Thomas vs Greg Reed is a mismatch of epic proportions.

At least I hope it was the best Honduran team ever, or we’re in trouble.

I am totally with you. I rewatched the series this summer to satiate my love for the show. I was getting edgy again but Fringe, FlashForward and a couple other new shows will hold me over.
My buddy sent me an 8-page text about a theory with that conversation. It’s really good. Best I’ve heard/read anywhere.

Yes. I like her voice. But I am very partial to girls singing while playing piano. *saw Vanessa Carlton in concert*

Basic: Honduras owned TV rights. Didn’t sell them to anyone.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:09 AM
I thought it was NBC Universal that was buying
dirt: it would be a Comcast/NBC JV (30%)

October 11th, 2009 at 12:09 AM
Virtually all of them are. This was the exception. THe short story is the host country sells the rights. Ordinarily, whomever buys them will sell the US rights to espn, fox soccer, etc. In this case however, they demanded too much, espn and fox soccer said no thanks, and they decided to go the closed circuit route. It happened to england as well this week.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:10 AM
I still think (and I’ve said this on the site before) that the whole show is somehwhat based on Stephen King’s Dark Tower books, in which “Ka is a wheel”, doomed to keep repeating their mistakes until they find a way out.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:10 AM
Saw an article about this yesterday… The home team gets rights for the broadcast. The Honduran government decided to sell the rights to a local group who did not want to negotiate with ESPN. That left it to closed cicruit TV only… The England/Ukraine game was the same way today…
The call in the article was for FIFA to intervene before the next set of qualifiers for 2014.

I guess nobody will ever know. It’s like how rainbows are made.

Woot! Ponder fumble recovered by the Jackets.
October 11th, 2009 at 12:13 AM
99% of the time, its no problem but i think they need to change it. There’s no reason why a station in a country cannot buy the rights to al qualifiers. ESPN could buy up the rights to all US quals in the US, and the same with the rest of CONCACAF. Problem solved
October 11th, 2009 at 12:14 AM
clarification, I mean ESPN buy the rights to show all US games on US tv, not just home games

Hence the “progress” Jacob talked about. Here’s what he sent me. (Yes, I saved it).
“So Nemesis said that Jacob brought the Black Rock there. Jacob has been bringing people to the island for years to protect it. Only none of them ever work out because they get corrupted by the island. They end up killing each other, like in Danielle’s case, or getting greedy, like Widmore. So then Jacob says, “The end is the same but everything before that is progress.” The progress I believe he is talking about is that before they end up being corrupted, they will at least portect the island for a time. He’s been using stop gaps until he found someone pure enough to protect it for good. He found that on the Black Rock in Richard. And just like he brought the Black Rock there, he brough 815 here by touching most of the survivors, or choosing them. Maybe becuase he needs someone else like Richard. I believe we were led to believe that person was Locke, but I think it’s Jack.”
Yes, this was a text message.

But that would mean that no one at FIFA would be bribed again and …

See ya, jpq.
I’m waiting if TST responds and them I’m going to bed. This is honestly by first sober Saturday in about two months. I can’t believe I stayed in.

It’s interesting NDub, sorry, didn’t realize you were sleep deprived (or sober). I think there is a bigger thing going on with the Man in Black/Jacob, but generally it makes sense. night all.

Peace out.

There was a Mister Simpson at Michigan, who washed out…
I prefer Harry Colon. Graphic, gross, and completely a football name.

Jaybo Shaw recovers the onside attempt. I’ve never seen the first and second string QBs on the hands team. Evil genius, that Paul Johnson.

Georgia Tech’s offense is a thing of beauty. I went to a small DIII college and we ran flexbone like that, it is without a doubt my favorite offense. As a Wisconsin Badger fan I would give my left nut to have Paul Johnson coaching in Madtown.
