1-liner, Soccer, World Cup October 13th. 2009, 11:14pmUPDATE on Davies: Charlie Davies suffered fractures to his right femur and tibia, facial and elbow fractures as well as a lacerated bladder. First, good to hear that he’s going to recover. That picture is terrifying.
But as a soccer fan, I guess my question is two-fold: will Charlie Davis ever be able to play again? I know the World Cup is an impossibility and wouldn’t want him to push things. I’d like to see him play again after he’s fully recovered, period.
My second question is (and maybe Duffy can help me on this, I don’t know if this was really covered in the other post): what exactly does the plan become for 2010?

I would assume Dempsey up front because that’s when he seems more involved, with Holden on the wing or Fielhaber in the middle. I’m guessing it will be Holden, although personally I think Benny is the better player.

Should definitely be Benny over Holden, and I think that will indeed wind up being the case.

nice to hear he’ll live, even play again.

I’m not even joking when I say that I thought all this was about Charles Davis, the lead analyst for the BCS games on FOX. I would have think he’s slightly more famous in the US right?

Yeah, I think that’s probably the best bet for now.

I don’t think anyone knows at this point. They have to wait for the swelling to come down and the bones to heal. Soccer players have returned from serious leg breaks, but it’s normally the lower leg. To come back from that and a broken femur would be something. If I were to bet, I would say it’s probably two to two and a half years before he comes back fully and he’s not as explosive as he once was.

i heard that story on the radio on the way home, and i slowed down about 10-15 mph. it rained here for the first time in about 4 months and saw about 2 cars that were being cleared up after ramming the guardrails.

Ok, enough from you Soccer Sallys about some idiot no one has heard of getting in a car crash. Two posts about a car crash is enough
Remember this guy?
he freaking died, and look at the “outpouring of support” for him.

Charles Davis >> Charlie Davis

Somebody is dead because of this > how this affects our World Cup chances

wbw: Maybe I came out a little strong-lol
I feel bad for the guy in that I would never want that to happen to anybody. It was a slow night, so if that’s kinda the end, then fine. My guess is we will be getting breathless status update posts, tracking how he’s doing, and how this will effect a soccer tournament a year from now. My point is 99% of the readers were fine with post #1, because they have never heard of him.

If this is the long term worse thing to happen to him from this crash, God bless him. to even be able to walk away from that is amazing.
