Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas, one-time BFFs, greatly dislike one another. Magic’s newest book claims that Isiah Thomas spread rumors about Johnson being gay or bisexual after testing positive for HIV in 1991. Isiah denies it. Magic appears to have responded by blackballing Isiah from the 1992 Dream Team. “Isiah killed his own chances when it came to the Olympics. Nobody on that team wanted to play with him. … Michael didn’t want to play with him. Scottie [Pippen] wanted no part of him. Bird wasn’t pushing for him. Karl Malone didn’t want him. Who was saying, ‘We need this guy?’ Nobody.” [SI]

i HATE Isiah the GM/Coach, but do feel like he’s getting ass raped by Magic. When Thomas was running the Knicks into the ground there were a lot of Magic sightings at the Garden. if he’s hated Thomas for so long, why would he waste his time watching a sucky team play?

As a cat who grew up in Detroit admiring Isiah and the Pistons…this story sucks. Magic–who has given no indication of such beef before…now has an issue.
I’ll say this–the surest way to end a friendship and turn a normal, sane person into an asshole? Have them write a book. They will say ANYTHING to create buzz and have their excerpts posted on some damn magazine’s pages…
Now Magic was behind freezing Zeke out of the Dream Team? That’s fucked up.

No one has seriously investigated this, but it has come out lately that more of the high-profile supposedly “ladies men” black celebrities, including many a rap artist, are gay.
It would not surprise me at all if Magic were a gay dude getting some fine female tail as well on the basis that most AIDS is transmitted that way anyway.
