Charles Barkley Wants to Be a General Manager
1-liner, Former Athletes, NBA October 26th. 2009, 11:15am
Charles Barkley: The Round Mound of Rebound, who begins his 8th season as a TNT analyst this week, said, “It’s time for me to be a general manager.” We just hope he doesn’t take the Milwaukee Bucks’ job, which is the one we want. Does this mean Barkley is giving up all those political aspirations? If he does plan on leaving TNT when his deal is up, we hope Chris Webber replaces him. Barkley has the Lakers and Celtics meeting in the Finals next June. [Boston Globe]

Who says you can’t be a GM and then a politician?

You can let yourself go with no consequences whatsoever.

They showed him at Game 6 last night. I would like to know where he went after the game.

Speaking of Simmons, he was on Tony Kornheiser’s radio show a little while ago. He started off by saying he’d do something Tirico wouldn’t, “laugh at your (Tony’s) jokes”. Funny in the moment if you heard it.
They brought up the whole Isiah/Magic/Dream Team thing. Simmons said he wanted them to do a 30 for 30 on the Dream Team and the Isiah issue, but the NBA didn’t want to do it, and since they (NBA) owned the footage, that basically killed it. He said the one this week is “one of the best documentaries ever”.

Uh, it’s the land of beer, cheese, and sausages. Does this really require further explanation.

It’s also cold, and the female population is right in Steve Phillip’s wheelhouse.

That collection of players represents everything that was great about the league at one time. The current crop suffers in comparison. LeBron couldn’t hold Bird’s mullet. Kobe couldn’t fill Magic’s glory hole.

the only thing you’re missing is inclding the fact that those three things are available to the women and they partake like they are going out of style.

Hmmm, good points. Let’s call it a good place to visit then. In summer. Away from any place which is ok with said women not being fully clothed.

Bullshit. Bird was through in 92. LeBron would have killed him. Magic was through. Kobe would have destroyed him.

I would take the ‘92 team in their prime against Kobe, LBJ, and any of the other so-called superstars in today’s game. It wouldn’t even be a contest.

Dream Team in their prime may have been better but its straight up hyperbole to say it wouldn’t be a contest. Another thing is other than Kobe none of the current crop of players have reached their prime as of yet, or are just scratching that surface.

I love when people remember the past and exaggerate the greatness of things without taking everything into consideration.
The 08 Dream Team would have given the 92 team a run for thier money. I’m not saying they would have won, but it definetely would not be a cakewalk like you want to believe.
Before you even bring it up: The international competition now is MUCH, much greater than it was 17 years ago.
