Dez Bryant Ruled Ineligible, Can Begin Preparing for the NFL Draft
1-liner, College Football October 28th. 2009, 2:15pmDez Bryant: The next ball Dez Bryant catches will be in the NFL. The clumsy, clueless NCAA has suspended the talented Oklahoma State receiver for the season for lying. The backstory: Bryant and Deion Sanders were tight. A jilted business owner, hoping to swing a deal with Sanders, ratted out Bryant to the NCAA. When they called, Bryant was unsure of what to do, so he said he never hung out with Deion. Then he admitted he had. Then, they suspended him. He’s a first-round lock. Teams that could burn a 1st rounder on Bryant: Miami, Baltimore, Jacksonville (which has more pressing needs), Washington (Bryant’s better than recent picks Thomas and Kelly; Redskins probably go QB, anyway), Chicago, and Tampa Bay. If the Jets decide to pass on re-signing Braylon Edwards, Bryant will warrant serious consideration. [Oklahoman]

Washington (Bryant’s better than recent picks Thomas and Kelly; Redskins probably go QB, anyway)

If only Hef and Spence would weigh in…
October 28th, 2009 at 2:20 PM
The Skins are so bad and yet as of now they only have the 8th pick in the draft. The Panthers and Seahawks could be in the 10-12 range and win 5 games.
Ouch.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:23 PM
The Raiders will draft him.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:25 PM
If Tampa takes anyone other then Suh in the draft, I might end up chocking someone
/Only shining light this football season is the chance to take him
//Just found out Josh Freeman is my new Starting QB
October 28th, 2009 at 2:27 PM
Only if his 40 time is under 4.3
October 28th, 2009 at 2:27 PM
at least you will have a rookie playing who may give you hope for the future
October 28th, 2009 at 2:28 PM
did crabtree get more receptions against the texans that heyward-bay had all season?

I’d be shocked if Parcells took a WR in the 1st round.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
The Fins will be looking for a replacement for either/both Jason Taylor and Joey Porter.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
Rex, when you get an hour or two, would you summarize the back and forth going on between them over this. I’m too lazy to catch up.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
He might be around for Chicago, if they continue to stink it up. Although they need some more D line help (and a new coaching staff).
October 28th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
I think it’s 6 catches to 5 Heyward-bey over Crabs. Still pretty sad, but in all fairness, Alex Smith is much less a bust than Jamarcus Russell at this point…
October 28th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
Yessir, he did.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:36 PM
Not enough names.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:38 PM
convincing gruden and allowing him to do everything to that raiders team would be an upgrade. what a shit storm
October 28th, 2009 at 2:40 PM
Hey guys…
The Bears don’t have a first round pick this year. Or a second. Or a first next year.
And like Dirt said. We need lineman. Offensive and defensive. The Broncos could draft him with one of their THREE first round draft picks this coming draft.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:40 PM
Chicago doesn’t have a first or second round pick in the draft.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:42 PM
Oh… and the Bears don’t have a third round pick this year either. We’ll likely be taking the long snapper from Jacksonville State in the 4th round with our first selection this year.
BLUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!
October 28th, 2009 at 2:43 PM
Redskins probably go QB, anyway),
But Jason Campbell is just starting to come around.
/Darrell’d.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:43 PM
wow. they bears are going to be shitty
October 28th, 2009 at 2:43 PM
Demaryius Thomas will be the best NFL receiver from this class if he goes for the draft.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:43 PM
what do you mean?
it was a spirited debate.
/that’s a bannin
October 28th, 2009 at 2:44 PM
Broncos only have 1. They traded their first round to Seattle last draft.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:44 PM
the bears fans finally got their quarterback but they forgot that they have no receivers, no line and everyone is getting old. i hope it was worth it
October 28th, 2009 at 2:45 PM
I can’t wait. My brother is a Bears fan.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:45 PM
So why do my Bears fan friends keeping trying to tell me I’m stupid for saying Denver got the best of the Cutler deal. Is this not a fact at this point?
October 28th, 2009 at 2:45 PM
Fuck the Bears.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:48 PM
Bryant will be long gone by the time the Ravens pick. If the Bills stick with Trent Edwards, i hope they dont, i could see this guy drafted by the Bills. TO will be gone and we can bring in another diva WR
October 28th, 2009 at 2:50 PM

It all depends on who is coaching them next year, and if they can convert their defense into anything workable for one year. Maybe deal Briggs to Indy for a 3rd rounder, if they’ll take his shitty contract.
Some people think Gaines Adams is good at D End. I’m not one of those. They need tons and tons of help. Step #1: Fire Lovie. Step #2: QB guru. then there’s like 17 more steps.
October 28th, 2009 at 2:52 PM
i liked the skull fucking ted williams frozen head comment from tampa
October 28th, 2009 at 2:54 PM
Do the steps have to go in order Dirt? Because step one has a 10% chance of happening. Most Bears fans are now praying for a 3-13 season just so they can fire him.
He’s owed $8M over the rest of that contract. The McCaskeys are cheap.
October 28th, 2009 at 3:04 PM
you can probably pick up Jim Zorn next year on the cheap, if you want to go Step #2 first. Not recommended, though.
Plus, Jim Zorn is one shitty QB guru. He’ll be the only one available if you keep Lovie, and that ludicrous Tampa 2.
October 28th, 2009 at 3:13 PM
Fuck the NCAA. Arrogant pricks.
October 28th, 2009 at 5:12 PM
+1. When I got to that, I laughed for about 2 minutes. Well played, Tampa.
October 28th, 2009 at 5:22 PM
I will be @ the Texas vs OSU game on Saturday night.
I will be dressed for Halloween as Steve McNair (4 Bullet holes included)…but I will have my Dez Bryant jersey on underneath my bloody McNair one.
Fuck the NCAA and appropriate halloween costumes!

Can somebody explain to me why he can’t become a free agent NFL player now?
October 29th, 2009 at 5:22 AM
Never mind, I realize now it is a 3 years removed from high school issue, just like if he was going to enter the draft.
