Strikeforce Live Blog
MMA November 7th. 2009, 9:14pm
Sorry for the late start folks. Had some technical difficulties. Let’s not dwell on my tardyness. Let’s enjoy some world class mixed martial arts. It’s what Fedor would want.
The following took place before I had an internet connection to work with. I was blocked out by an 8 year old. Seriously. There’s a family thing going on at my house tonight. Anyway, let’s not dwell on my personal life. I’ve got some Labatt, so we’ll get through this thing.
- Playing up Fedor being an average Joe. Except he’s awesome. Love the shot of him in LeBron’s chair. I think they may have photoshopped Rogers into the chair.
- Strikeforce highlight Gina Carano, Cung Le and Frank Shamrock in their opening.
- Oh, hi, Gus Johnson.
- Somebody here yell what?
- Wedrum is already bouncing around the cage. Strikeforce is not making the same mistake that EliteXC did in their CBS debut – no messing around. They’re going to jump right in, both feet first. Good.
- Wow, Brett Rogers looks like he kicked Fedor’s ass in EA Sports: MMA.
- WAR IVEY!
Antonio Silva vs. Fabricio Werdum
- Big Foot Silva has the largest head in the world. Seriously. It’s a record.
- It’s incredibly anti-climatic to be live-blogging without an internet connection.
- If you follow me on Twitter, then I told you I’d have this up and running eventually!
- Silva just destroyed Werdum. Oh wow. Just devastating punches.
- I honestly, don’t know how Werdum is still alive right now. But here he is.
- Have I mentioned Silva is huge? He’s got the head of a characature.
- First round has to go to Big Foot, but Werdum won a moral victory.
- Silva is a dominating presence. He knocked Werdum down again to start the second. He looks like Shane Battier if Battier were Rocky Dennis.
- Silva keeps dominating, but Werdum is surviving. He’s getting in a good shot every now and then, but he’s not winning the fight in anybody’s eyes.
- Werdum finally gets a takedown and is working for position. The kid’s got sticktoitiveness. I’m pretty sure that’s how you spell that.
- “Nothing like to heavyweights scrambling on the ground.” Right, but I don’t think that’s a good thing.
- DJ Hero? For people who don’t even want to pretend to play an instrument. Call me when they have blogger hero. I’ll be Michael David Smith.
- Round 2 goes to Silva. Werdum needs to finish this.
- Wordpress does not recognize “Werdum” as a real word. For shame.
- Third starts and neither guy seems overly gassed.
- Werdum has Silva’s back. This could be trouble for Silva.
- I am in an unfamiliar setting for blogging.
- Silva with a few more big shots, but Werdum lands a couple nice looking knees. Close one. I can’t see this going to the decision, even thought it looks like it will with 2 minutes to go.
- Antonio Silva’s head has to take the freight elevator.
- Under a minute, Werdum on top. Good ground and pound from sorta-kinda-half guard.
- Good finish. Exciting fight. Both guys should have been knocked out.
- Let’s go to Fedor. Nevermind, let’s talk to his crazy Russian manager because Fedor doesn’t talk to the media. How didn’t they get Fedor on Craig Ferguson this week?
- Wow. Werdum with the decision victory. I thought Silva took that, but the second round was close to a toss-up so there it is.
- For what its worth – Jenn Brown. Not for nothing, but she’s kind of got an Antonio Silva head going on. Pretty, but BIG. I’m so glad she’s not reading this.
- Did I mention I’m at my parents house with my laptop on a TV tray sitting in a computer chair in the middle of the living room setting my beer on the stove? True story.
- My mother is less than impressed with the sport of MMA. She still likes me though. She’s a cool lady.
Gegard Mousasi vs. Sokoudjou
- This is a non-title bout for some reason. I’m still not clear on that.
- Mousasi and Fedor are the most unassuming killers ever.
- I wish my brother was here to grab me a beer. Hurry back Matthew!
- It’s a “feeling out process.” Sweet.
- Our first shot to the groin. And Sokoudjou is playing it up with another. Methinks he’s not feeling this.
- Sokoudjou pushing, Mousasi unimpressed. Gegard is very quick.
- Mousasi lands some strikes and Sokoudjou ends up getting the takedown. Mousasi with the revers and he’s on top in side control. Now they’ve picked up the pace. It’s a real chess match.
- Sokoudjou doing a great job. Maybe enough to steal the round.
- Until the final seconds. Very close. Sokoudjou doing a great job.
- That turned into a pretty good MMA chess match. Did I say that already? What time is it?
- Mousasi with bunches of punches there and Sokoudjou weathers it. Back to the clinch.
- Ground. And. Pound. Fuck. And. Yes.
- Great finish by “The Dreamcatcher.” What whimsical nickname. And Mousasi retains his belt!
- What do you mean his belt wasn’t on the line?
- My father will now tell me about how my high school is doing in sports this year. The man love sports. And he was quite happy to see Iowa lose today.
- /Mentions that Michigan also lost today
- And Notre Dame!
- Penny is dating Leonard? What’s up with that? Kaley Cuoco ftw.
- Smith vs. Le? I was off the internets today. That’s sweet.
Jake Shields vs. Mayhem Miller
- I’m rooting for Miller. I love Bully Beatdown.
- Great pace for the show tonight.
- Miller remains insane.
- A little less showmanship by Jake Shields. Just a tad.
- Shields with the quick takedown. Didn’t see that coming. That was my most outrageous joke of the evening.
- Miller looks very pale. The bullies must not have much of tan.
- Miller finally gets up with about 3 minutes left in the round. Missing a looping right hand and we’re back to the ground. Woot!
- Shields is doing his boring wrestling thing and Miller works it back to the feet again. Then a big takedown.
- I tell you what. That was a close round and Miller might have stolen it. He got a couple takedowns and finished on top.
- Miller comes out strong in the second. This is a very interesting fight. I don’t know how else to describe it.
- Um… can you strike to the back of the head in Strikeforce?
- Miller in a bad spot.
- A banana split? That sounds gay. Even more gay than most of the stuff in MMA.
- Shields is consistently a mistake away from getting that rear-naked choke. Finally gets out and up. Now he’s on top.
- Good second round. Shields should take that one being in the better position most of the time.
- Miller with the takedown to start the third. Shilds works to half guard. Miller remains cool and calm. I feel like he should be doing commentary.
- That’s where I would have done an impression of Miller if I could.
- Both guys gloves are coming un-taped. Or, just Miller. He landed a nice spinning backfist right before the break.
- Jake Shields is the better wrestler. I looked it up.
- The crowd doesn’t appreciate Jake Shields’ wrestling ability.
- OOOOOOOOOOOOoh Miller had him. Shields was about to get choked out. Perfect rear-naked. So close. Shields was, in fact, Saved By The Bell.
- Round FOUR
- *yawns*
- Sorry, that’s the blood thirsty side of me. Shields is doing his wrestling thing, not trying to do much.
- Knew the stand up was coming. Shields isn’t trying to win, just hold on for the win. Hey, it works. Full mount, roll. Transition. It’s a clinic by Shields and he always ends up on top. At least in the 4th.
- Another round for Shields. Miller needs to finish.
- Brett Rogers, still doing the press junket minutes before his fight.
- Much of the same to start Round Five.
- Shields on the back, looking fo rthe takedown. Miller fighting it off, trying to do anything else.
- Shields finally gets the takedown. The fans are nonplussed. He’s earning the win. It’s not super fun to watch, but it works. 2 minutes to go.
- Miller finally gets out. Almost gets the guillotine. Almost. Not really, but almost.
- Shields got the win. My father and brother enjoy watching wrestling and absolutely hated the fight.
- The fans were as excited about Shields’ victory as Miller.
- Jake Shields didn’t make any new fans tonight. Here’s why.
- Again, Shields vs. Miller opens the debate about holding someone down vs. doing something. Oh well.
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers
- Well, we’re finally here. Time for Russia vs. USA v. 2.0.0.9
- MMA fans love poker apparently. Or at least that’s what Full Tilt thinks.
- Oh, hi readers.
- Why is the crowd pro-Fedor? Isn’t Rogers from Chicago? And America?
- Big John will not take any of your bullshit. No touch of the gloves. Here. We. GO!
- Rogers looks very nervous. Fedor is bleeding and gets the takedown.
- Rogers is doing a great job against the cage. confidence must be building.
- Way too much went on there to write down. I’m not a computer damnit.
- Wow. Rogers just reigned down blows. Fedor almost with the arm bar. What round.
- That round was so fucking good I forgot to drink.
- USA! USA! USA!
- And with one huge punch….
- Great effort by Rogers, but Fedor is the best. His bearded entourage agrees.
- “I kill everyone” – Fedor
- “ ” – Brett Rogers (CBS feed)
- Fedor – Rogers 2 would be a pretty successful PPV. Just saying.
- “The fuck is an Overeem?” – American Public
- Still don’t understand why Chicago loves Fedor and hates Rogers. Either way, good night. Good fight. See you all later.

these big fuckers are banging.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:17 PM
Silva with some huge hits.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:18 PM
It’s incredibly anti-climatic to be live-blogging without an internet connection.
I think that’s dead blogging, but I don’t know all of the jargon.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:18 PM
And I say that and Werdum comes back with chin music.
These guys want to fight.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:19 PM
if you put silva’s head on chewbacca it would still look too big for his body.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:22 PM
if you put silva’s head on the Lincoln memorial, it might still look too big for the statue.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:22 PM
out of all martial art i want to learn i want to learn bjj first.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:30 PM
Best only has a concussion. It really looked like he was paralized.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:30 PM
Silva owned the first round, but now I think it’s a split decision.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:30 PM
werdum with a little bob and weave
November 7th, 2009 at 9:31 PM
These guys look like Rock’em Sock’em Robots.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:32 PM
osu won Michigan lost nd lost…great day
November 7th, 2009 at 9:33 PM
werdum took this round but silva is just to big for werdum to get in a finishing position
November 7th, 2009 at 9:34 PM
just one round’s opinion: weak last round showing by silva. didnt see the first 2 rounds.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:35 PM
Yep…Silva let Werdum get that fight from him.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:36 PM
wow the judging system in mma needs a complete overhaul. what a bad decision
November 7th, 2009 at 9:36 PM
easter island statue head got ripped off
November 7th, 2009 at 9:38 PM
Nice of them to mention Silva’s suspension, but not say what it was for.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:38 PM
I thought Silva had that as well.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:39 PM

Espn liveblogging the Final Nine live here
Obviously don’t go if you want to watch it Tuesday pm
November 7th, 2009 at 9:39 PM
I think the first round was all Silva whereas round 2 was even and round 3 was Werdum. But Silva sat back and didn’t take over that fight.
You should never leave it to the refs. You never know what they’re going to see.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:40 PM
mrejr, learn BJJ then take Muay Tai. You will love it. Learn to never actually kick with your foot though. Ever.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:41 PM
My shins hurt even thinking about that.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:42 PM
wow strikeforce is really keeping the show moving. ufc take note. i like the pace of the show so far
November 7th, 2009 at 9:43 PM
my only question: is there some kind of rule that you have to wear a dbag tshirt if you are in MMA or into MMA?
November 7th, 2009 at 9:44 PM
Who’s the hot chick with the rather large forehead, and when does some crazy cage fighter hump her leg?
November 7th, 2009 at 9:44 PM
my only question: is there some kind of rule that if you dont like mma you have to ask the same douchebag question about the shirts?
November 7th, 2009 at 9:45 PM
is there some kind of rule that you have to wear a dbag tshirt if you are in MMA or into MMA?
Those shirts are gross. That’s how, in life, you can tell who not to talk to in a bar. Just walk away from those people.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:46 PM
it’s a legit question. Those things are fucking retarded and every MMA person I’ve ever seen has worn one
November 7th, 2009 at 9:47 PM
is there some kind of rule that you have to wear a dbag tshirt if you are in MMA or into MMA?
I almost think that they get into MMA to wear the dbag tshirts.
Isn’t this the legacy of Affliction’s short-lived company?
November 7th, 2009 at 9:47 PM
i would rather wear those than a gay soccer kit
November 7th, 2009 at 9:48 PM
Fetch, I think they’re a group or a sponsor or something. They have a stable of fighters, so they’re representing their benefactor.
Then, they sell the brand out, like And1. A lot like And1.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:49 PM
this is combo of elitexc and affliction kinda.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:49 PM
Roll Tide!
For what it’s worth, it was an INT. Seriously doubt the game would have finished any different though.
Big win for Texas today against UCF…
November 7th, 2009 at 9:50 PM
Ah that makes sense. That’s one question settled.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:51 PM
We also learned that MMA loving dudes are equally sensitive to soccer loving dudes if they perceive that you are pooping on their posts.
Wait till I drop a poo bomb into whatever hockey writer starts posting on here, though.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:52 PM
Wait…we’re going to get hockey posts?!
November 7th, 2009 at 9:54 PM
Mousasi hammering but looks ready to fall tired.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:55 PM
aren’t you from somewhere in New England dirt? How aren’t you a hockey guy?
November 7th, 2009 at 9:55 PM
stojakavic..i mean mousasi wins via ref stoppage
November 7th, 2009 at 9:57 PM
I say that and then bam, the ref steps in and calls the bout.
November 7th, 2009 at 9:58 PM
shields vs miller should be a very entertaining fight.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:01 PM
I am looking forward to Ninja Assassin. Haven’t had a good ninja movie since the White Ninjas were fighting the Red Ninja clan.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:02 PM
aren’t you from somewhere in New England dirt? How aren’t you a hockey guy?
I live in New England, but I’m FROM Texas. So not a ton of exposure to the hockey.
That black guy didn’t even want to fight. I was happy they stopped it, but he was happier.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:03 PM
Wait…we’re going to get hockey posts?!
According to TBL, one of the regular commenters has decided to put up hockey posts. I don’t know if it’s Souvenir City or Fetch, but it’s somebody who loves hockey.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:05 PM
I hate when they say “ground and pound” when they’re already on the ground. That’s just pound.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:05 PM
Texas is really turning into a hockey hotbed.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:05 PM
i would not be surprised at all to see mayhem getting chased by the cops after a killing spree and when they catch him he is covered in feces and blood. and after this entrace he better perform.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:06 PM
Has MMA gotten more mainstream acceptance than I thought, or is CBS just required to put erectile disfunction commercials on every program they have?
November 7th, 2009 at 10:06 PM
but the whole process is called ground and pound. you ground your opponent and then pound them. really it is that simple.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:08 PM
Texas is really turning into a hockey hotbed.
I know there’s at least 4 minor league teams, plus the Stars down there. I think even El Paso has a hockey team.
I watched one season when I lived in Dallas, and hung out with some dudes, but it didn’t take. That was when I was boycotting the NBA for being shitty.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:10 PM
but the whole process is called ground and pound. you ground your opponent and then pound them. really it is that simple.
Mrejr, I understand it. But when Peja was fighting that black guy who thought he was pretty, the black guy took Peja to the mat. Then they got flipped, and then Peja started pounding.
He didn’t do ground and pound. He just did pound. So he didn’t do the whole process.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:11 PM
Cung Le must have found out real quick that don the dragon wilson has the shitty kung-fu b-movie market cornered
November 7th, 2009 at 10:11 PM
Has MMA gotten more mainstream acceptance than I thought, or is CBS just required to put erectile disfunction commercials on every program they have?
with as many of these are you see, Taguchi, you might want to make sure your peen is fully functional. You seem to be their target audience.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:15 PM
weak slam
November 7th, 2009 at 10:19 PM
shields bleeding from his nose. miller really needs to keep this standing for a chance to win.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:19 PM
shields blodding from his nose. miller really needs to keep this standing for a chance to win.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:29 PM
mayhem wins his first round. awesome.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:31 PM
this piece of crap fight is for some kind of title?
Boo!
November 7th, 2009 at 10:32 PM
These announcers are really overselling. They keep telling me what an impressive display of some shit I’m seeing, only to have whatever lousy shit i’m seeing quickly become something else, equally crappy.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:35 PM
shields is doing some impressive work but it is of the impressive but horribly boring matt hughes type of work. mayhem does have talent though.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:37 PM
I get the feeling this is Shields fight to lose. He’s not giving it away, but at the same time, Shields isn’t taking the risks.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:39 PM
cheese and rice this is a boring damn fight.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:41 PM
Really? That combination?
November 7th, 2009 at 10:43 PM
that title should stay vacant. They should declare a victor, but not give him the title. And that red headed retard didn’t win.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:45 PM
I was hoping Miller would die in that fight, literally. Maybe fight a real Middleweight and it happens.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:45 PM
There’s a plus to this show tonight…No Joe Rogan post-fight interviews.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:46 PM
this how a fight card should be like. fast and not too much lag between fights. now if only every fight could be exciting.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:48 PM
This is really a really shitty cagefighting outfit. I hope this Fedor is awesome, because up till now, i am nonplussed.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:48 PM
Now that’s a T-shirt. That thing is awesome (if you take off the sponsors of course)
November 7th, 2009 at 10:54 PM
Fedor is one scary dude.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:57 PM
lesnar is scarier.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:57 PM
November 7th, 2009 at 10:57 PM
If Fedor loses, I’ll be drinking til I can’t feel feelings.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:59 PM
/For America’d
November 7th, 2009 at 11:00 PM
Nice to see Missy Elliot in attendance and getting behind MMA
November 7th, 2009 at 11:00 PM
Both of these guys look kinda fat.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:01 PM
Shocked if this goes longer than 1 minute
November 7th, 2009 at 11:01 PM
Fedor looks like a guy who would kill you without hesitation.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:02 PM
I should have dusted off my Fedor Facts for this occasion.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:03 PM
Can’t believe Rogers got up from being down in side control.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:04 PM
Arm bar coming in ..10, 9, 8..
November 7th, 2009 at 11:05 PM
Damn it! If this was PRIDE Fighting, Fedor would have soccer kicked the shit out of Rogers.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:06 PM
This is by far the worst Jiu Jitsu I’ve ever seen from Fedor.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:06 PM
Yep, whole different strategy in the cage stateside
November 7th, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Ewww.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Not sure if you caught it, but Fedor leaned forward like he was going in for a soccer kick.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:07 PM
Nice Job Brett. Barely anyone gets to the second round against Fedor. That broken nose I think had a big deal to do with it..also wonder why Fedor couldn’t execute that Kimura and why he didn’t go to an armbar out of the guard the first time around.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:08 PM
He absolutely did..was it to show how he would have dominated if it wasn’t in the states? or was it a momentarily lapse?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:08 PM
I like that they have the ref cam. It’s PRIDE vintage for sure.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Need the screaming girl!!!
November 7th, 2009 at 11:09 PM
healthcare bill passed, if anyone is interested.
/nobody
November 7th, 2009 at 11:10 PM
He got KNOCKED….THE FUCK OUT!!!
November 7th, 2009 at 11:10 PM
wow. good fucking night mr. rogers it is now Fedor’s neighborhood
November 7th, 2009 at 11:10 PM
Dropped him like a bad habit.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
wow that was loud, props to rogers though for taking it to Fedor in the first round though
November 7th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Nobody can be impressed with Fedor or Rogers after that. I was laughing the whole time just imagining Lesnar smoking these 2. Make Lesnar and Fatdor happen, asap. Please!
November 7th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Healthcare bill interest > this
November 7th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
I think it was a little bit of both.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Holy Shit… UConn is a 2 point conversion from tying up Cincinnati!
November 7th, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Anyone watching the Dawson v. Johnson II fight on HBO?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:12 PM
You’ve gotta be kidding me if you think Brock would beat Fedor based on the evidence we have. Love Brock, but he wouldn’t have gotten out of the first three sub attempts that Rogers did. Rogers has very underrated Jiu Jitsu, Lesnar has zero Jiu Jitsu.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:12 PM
that looked like it hurt.
They finished this lousy show with one hellacious fight. I’d actually like to see both of those dudes fight Brock Lesnar. That big black guy was good, but he got fucking creamed.
So now I know. Fedor hits hard.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:12 PM
219 votes, wow.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:12 PM
lesnar would run through fedor. brock has a killers mentality and the talent and power to back it up.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:13 PM
Who? What?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:13 PM
Brock would destroy Fedor. Not impressed. Brock is just as athletic, more powerful than Fedor. Rogers handled him Round 1, Brock would have won via stoppage if he were in that position.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:14 PM
healthcare bill passed
Just the house, right? It’s not over yet, is it?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Fedor looked sloppy. I’m nowhere near convinced he’d beat Lesnar. Oh and Fedor is fat at only 230. If he was in UFC and hadn’t been a heavyweight his whole career, I’d say he should cut hard and get to 205.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Not kidding at all. Lesnar would never be on bottom position versus Fedor, ever. His body control is too good plus his size. If Rogers can GnP Fedor even a bit imagine what Lesnar would do. Still laughed at the pounding Fedor took on the bottom. Oh and Brock wouldn’t get tired like man tits Rogers. Analyze shit, c’mon.
/The more you know.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Anyone watching the Dawson v. Johnson II fight on HBO?
I would watch Rosario Dawson and Shawn Johnson go at it on Cinemax. And i wouldn’t have missed the first one, either.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:18 PM
Nobody can be impressed with Fedor or Rogers after that. I was laughing the whole time just imagining Lesnar smoking these 2. Make Lesnar and Fatdor happen, asap. Please!
I thought both of those guys were pretty badass, although the big black one was scared of getting hit as hard as he knew he was eventually going to get hit.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:18 PM
Fedor is best fighter in history? Umm..no.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:18 PM
if another rogers-fedor match is what strikeforce is offering they wont last long.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:19 PM
Well, I’m not saying they wouldn’t beat my ass.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:19 PM
Dawson is from CT so I am interested if he wins. He is wearing trunks with Jasper Howard’s number (UCONN DB who was stabed to death). Floyd Mayweather says he is the best fighter pound for pound right now. Out of New Haven, CT
November 7th, 2009 at 11:19 PM
Good call bulldog. Plus Rogers has power but was very poor setting up his strikes. Lesnar is crazy quick with his strikes. Lesnar would murder Fedor standing. Rogers getting out of the subs looked much more like him being 5 times stronger than Fedor rather than him purposely moving to get out. Considering Lesnar is likely much stronger than Rogers… I’d see the same happening.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:22 PM
Fedor will be the Mayweather of MMA unless he fights Lesnar. Keep picking your opponents and avoiding Lesnar. No reason there shouldn’t be a Lesnar-Fedor fight.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:23 PM
no. fedor’s stand up is better than brocks. and so is his bjj. in a fedor-brock fight brock would have the advantage in power and wrestling. that is it.

I think this Strikeforce lulled me into believing that the fight I just watched was awesomer than awesome, by showing me a fight right before it that was suckier than a suckfest. Maybe I was deceived.
What if this giant black dude fights Check Kongo? Is that interesting? 2 enormous black dudes battling each other?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:28 PM
Looks like Houston eked out a miracle against Tulsa.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:31 PM
if there is a sporting event it better have all black guys.

TBL will have them back in the top 10 after that stellar performance…
UConn showed that Cincy has a lot of warts. They can really bring it on offense, but WVU will give them a lot of grief…
November 7th, 2009 at 11:35 PM
I can’t believe that Nebraska and SUH!!!! is holding Oklahoma to 3 points…
November 7th, 2009 at 11:35 PM
Fair enough, but are you at all familiar with Fedor before tonight? Go back and look at how the man dominates from the bottom. Brock would put his limbs out there for the taking, and would not be able to defend against a sub the way Rogers could.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:36 PM
Every “elite” team I’ve seen this year has showd some pretty obvious weaknesses. Everyone ripping Iowa today (and they should)..tell me if Florida is undefeated if Tebow got knocked out of a game. They might not even be able to get first downs if that was the case.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:38 PM
Oh and I’m not saying Fedor is unbeatable. If there’s one thing we’ve learned about MMA, is that it’s impossible to just simply not lose. With that said, can’t understand the heat Fedor is taking right now after that fight, it’s the one sport where you’re guaranteed to look bad.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:44 PM
tell me if Florida is undefeated if Tebow got knocked out of a game.
he did, and they are. They’ve had very conspicuous help from the SEC refs though.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:46 PM
Well, he did against Kentucky. That game was already in hand, but he did get knocked out.
The truth is that Iowa isn’t talented enough at the other 21 positions to overcome losing the QB. They weren’t that good to begin with, but they were winning, and posted a couple impressive wins along the way in Arizona and at Penn State. Good run for them. Enjoy the Citrus Bowl.

I’ll say it: I would murder Taylor Swift……’s vagina
November 7th, 2009 at 11:49 PM
She’s cute, but real skinny. I too would have sexual relations with her, if I could work it out.

Is Iverson killing his HOF chance? He’s been complaining like a little girl for the past two years.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:50 PM
Is Iverson killing his HOF chance?
Stone cold first ballot lead pipe lock. What he’s killing is his chance to make 25 million more dollars over the next 4 years as an “instant offense” type backup. No team would take him on his terms, so he went to the worst organization there was, and made it less than one actual game played before he complained that things weren’t on his terms.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:54 PM
id take lesnar over fedor
November 7th, 2009 at 11:54 PM
Being a real prick could dampen those votes. He’s in, no question, but it might not be the first time…
He’s showing his true colors now. Now it’s understood why no one with a chance of the playoffs wanted anything to do with him. Are the Pistons vindicated based on his rants after 3 games this year?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:54 PM
Eventually he will start to look like a me first, f- the team type player who got his stats but never won anything. Yes, he’s been to the Finals, but that just makes Larry Brown look like a great coach than Iverson a team player.
November 7th, 2009 at 11:55 PM
Cincy can score with anyone, but their defense looks really suspect right now. Suspect enough that I think they’ll really struggle against WVA and Pitt…
November 8th, 2009 at 12:02 AM
Cleveland… think of the fights you’ve seen out of Penn, Silva, and GSP of late. They look completely dominant in every part of the fight. Fedor simply didn’t look in control of this fight at ANY point. I’m guessing he was pretty nervous too though… I can’t imagine he has gotten by throwing only wild rights.
You can always lose in MMA, but the best fighters get “caught” while they still look like they have been in total control. Who knows. I just wish we could see Fedor vs. Lesnar even more now.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:07 AM
They also play Illinois. Could be a 56-52 game if good Juice shows up.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:08 AM
This may have been the best weekend of college ball this year. Awesome stuff.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:20 AM
So is Weis done or what? Surely he is.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:25 AM
I can’t imagine a situation where he isn’t…
Brian Kelly? That’s the obvious.
Urban is the darkhorse, but I think doubtful.
Any other names?
November 8th, 2009 at 12:26 AM
gods: nebraska’s D tore up OU. i think landry will be pretty good once he gets a decent o-line though.
and yes, weis is done
November 8th, 2009 at 12:28 AM
I’m amazed at how neutered Oklahoma is without Bradford. He is very, very good, but I wouldn’t have expected them to completely fall flat without him. They are not very good right now.
I didn’t see tonight though. Was it Sooner mistakes or Husker D that did it tonight?
November 8th, 2009 at 12:32 AM
Both. Landry Jones threw 5 picks, but he didn’t really have much time all game. OU also missed 3 field goals because they have their fucking punter kicking fg’s for some reason.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:33 AM
But OU’s o-line is terrible. Hopefully they start to pick things up before the end of the year.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:43 AM
Best defensivce performance I’ve seen from Nebraska in a decade. It was also the worst offensive performance I’ve ever seen. Landry threw the ball 60 times (or close to it). Crazy number.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:53 AM
So, TCU should be in the title game. Just thought Id throw that out there.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:59 AM
Maybe, but unless there is only one 13-0 team, they have no chance. They are the real deal though.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:02 AM
they have a better resume than Texas. Their non-conference was better, and there’s a real argument that the Mountain West is close to the Big 12 this year. The Big 12 is terrrrrrrrible.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:04 AM
The B12 is horrible. Just awful to watch. Texas is fun to watch, but that’s it.
November 8th, 2009 at 1:09 AM
Holy shit. This Final Verdict thing on College Football Final. Ghey as fuck.

November 8th, 2009 at 6:27 AM
Hate to bring this back to a MMA post butttttttt
Fedor would have lost tonight if elbows were allowed on the ground. In a UFC fight, Rogers messes up his face more in the first round and leans on him more on the ground if he’s able to use the elbows and forearms more.
Just sayin’
November 8th, 2009 at 7:55 AM
I am anxious for the Fire Charlie Weis post that was scheduled for 8am. I intend to use my decided sarcastic advantage to make fun of Notre Dame football really early this morning.
