Jahvid Best is OK, Thankfully, but this Video of the Cal Running Back’s TD Leap Remains Terrifying
College Football, Video November 8th. 2009, 12:30pmJahvid Best suffered a “pretty serious concussion” Saturday night while spectacularly leaping into the end zone against Oregon State. Best landed on his neck, his helmet flew off, and the image of his frozen, unconscious body on the ground is haunting. This was the second concussion he suffered in eight days. Best is projected to be among the 1st RBs taken in the 2010 draft. [Knapp, Ratto]

Maybe, just maybe his helemt was a little to big. Oviously jumping 6 feet in the air and landing on your neck is going to lead to a concussion whether the helmet stays on or not, but has anyone else noticed how many helmets are flying off.
Helmets were never meant to come off with one hand or even after getting hit hard.

That’s because everyone thinks they are Deion Sanders from 1994 and they don’t buckle all the straps up.

Sorry to repost, not sure if you left the thread TBL:

ESPN did a pretty comprehensive run down last year of the top programs based on prestige. Check out the metric, it’s a pretty good one. They listed USC 2nd and Ohio State third.
I’d be interested to hear your basis TBL for putting Ohio State and USC in “the next batch.”

As long as the only contact the players have is with stippers ala Deion they will be alright but they aren’t taking that into consideration.

Buckle your chinstrap, kids, and wear it tight. If it hurts your hair, cut your hair. This is football season. You could die out there.
I’ll bet this guy has 15 Cat Scans and 10 more MRI’s before the draft.

The worst part is, this dude is in the endzone if he stays low anyway. The jump was completely unnecessary. His brain got 10 feet in the air though.
When my wife saw it, she was naming off all of the high risk groups he’s in for later in life (Parkinsons, etc). That was ugly.

Holmgren to Browns? In a Parcells type role? I thought it was decided in Seattle that he wasn’t good at ths stuff? Or is it just that he had “too much responsibility” with the many different hats he was wearing there?

Wow… From the concussion I assume? Damn, I’ve had 3.

I was watching the Ali/Holmes 30 for 30 with my lady friend and we were talking and she essentially called me retarded for thinking that Ali’s Parkinson’s was in any way related to boxing (“So who was punching Micheal J. Fox?”). So we did some angry mutual googling (that’s right) and they’ve only recently managed to find a link to head trauma, and even that is more tenuous then I would have thought (I feel like it’s been common knowledge that boxing did that to Ali, no?) You’re actually at much greater risk for Parkinson’s if you use anything manufactured by Monsanto than you are getting punched in the head, or at least medical science hasn’t established those links nearly as well yet. I was pissed.

apparently I think Parkinsons possesses everything around it.

That should say Oregon State, not Arizona State.
