Remember When the Chargers Drafted Eli Manning, and He Forced a Trade?
NFL November 8th. 2009, 4:16pm
Ah, memories. Eli, that little bitch, forced the Chargers to trade him on draft day in 2004 because he refused to play in San Diego. Today’s meeting Eli Manning and Phil Rivers will be the first since that deal. As much as we’d like to root for the Chargers – our AFC Super Bowl pick – we have to go Giants here. A Chargers loss helps the Jets get back in the playoff mix (a near impossibility, but still).
Worth keeping an eye on: Carolina at New Orleans. DeAngelo Williams just broke off a 66-yard TD run and it is 7-0 Panthers very early in the 1st.

The Bengals are 6-2!
November 8th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Bucs false start on 4th and 1. Turns out they’re 0-7 for a reason.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Packers 4th and 12, Rodgers picked off!! Returned for a TD!! Bucs are 1-7! Fuck you Packers!!
The Packers look just like the 2003 Vikings – so much individual talent, atrocious coaching and even worse decision making at QB.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
there is no more moral defeats when we play the colts tough. we played like garbage the first half and shot ourselves in the foot with 13 penalties for 105 yards the last time i checked. it sucks but we get them again in 3 weeks
November 8th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
The Aaron Rodgers bandwagon is emptying out, guy is terrible. I know the entire team has issues, D isn’t great, OLine is bad, but he just doesn’t get rid of the ball and doesn’t feel the rush at all. He’s regressed.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Rams can still get the number one pick. A great day.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Vikes didn’t even have to do anything and this was a great Sunday
November 8th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Bucs win. Rodgers throws a pick six to cap a 38-28 loss. he got sacked 6 times.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
I fucking hate the Panthers and their lucky ass Jake Delhomme. They fricking never lose in Louisiana.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
Gotta feel good for the Bucs. I wish they’d wear the throwbacks the rest of the year.
/seriously, how often is that last phrase uttered? Can’t we have an all-throwback season?
November 8th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
14-0 Panthers
Not panicking yet
November 8th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
I hate all of you.

The 2008-09 Detroit Lions are opening Icehouse and spraying each other. 0-16 is safe.

mike mccarthy you are on the hot seat. lovie you have some people fooled so you will last a year longer probably.jim schwartz you did 100% better than your predecessor you’re good until 2013..at least.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
And of course the league I’m starting the Saints D and Drew Brees I’m facing Williams.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Yep, I’m playing him in my fantasy league.
/what else can go wrong this weekend?
November 8th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
Yet Brad Childress remains firmly in grasp of the Minnesota job because he has the best running back, OL and run defense in the NFL.

i was just catching up on the last thread, backwards. You dumbasses are a bunch of He-Man woman haters.
I like my wife, she’s great.
Also, did anybody see the meeting that poor Raheem Brock had before figuring out to what to do on 4th and 1? He is completely overmatched as a head coach.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
I’d put Ted Thompson on that list too mrejr…
November 8th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
Badger, is Boise 6th?
November 8th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
HEY. I was the power of positivity.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Im with you Dirt. My wife is great too.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
HEY. I was the power of positivity.
I was only backing you up. Although, you did call your common law girlfriend a bitch.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Well the Saints are driving at least.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
@dirt
Boise is 6th
November 8th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Lions up 14-0 on Seattle, Stafford looks pretty damn good
November 8th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
That’s good, they can spoil the party, too. I don’t think that Boise will end up matched against TCU, which would really piss me off, but I’m not really a BCS-ologist.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
I just Paolo’d the “dunk” post.

November 8th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
well good thing lovie smith has no input on personnell because then his job will be really safe. i bet angelo just picks whoever he wants regardless of what the head coach says.
And this cover 2 scheme is awesome. i know for a fact the linebackers love to drop back 10 yards into coverage instead of being near the line to stop the run and near the flats to stop screens. The best part of lovies cover 2 is watching the dline(regardless of injuries) get knocked so far off the ball i could run through the holes. but yeah it’s everyone else’s fault not lovie’s. cant be. i mean when they went to the super bowl he was calling the plays right? ron rivera was? oh shit. what happened to him? he got fired? wonder why. because lovie felt he was getting too much credit? oh…
November 8th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
3rd and goal from the 5 for the Saints. Don’t kick the field goal
November 8th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
You’re only Paolo-ing it, if you make that comment back there, and then come in here, and link to that comment, and then tell TBL that you just emailed him.
If you’re ballzdeeping, you’re making the same comment over several posts, to make sure we all see it several times.
And if you’re Erich, you’re walking out onto thin ice, and then jumping up and down, waiting to get banned.

Brees drops the shotgun snap. Fuck me.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:42 pm
Seahawks just went for it on 4th and 1 at their own 38 and didn’t make it. You can’t do that when Julius freaking Jones is your RB.

November 8th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
I know who is at fault for the bears! ron turner! because as head coach lovie is only responsible for the defense. no matter how bad the offense is the head coach cant say anything to the offensive coordinator. it is in the book of scientific and football related facts.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:48 pm
I think if you’re hallucinating a pussy loving man in windows an untrustworthy penis is the least of your problems. Of course, medical science disagrees.

November 8th, 2009 at 4:50 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
I irrationally blame you when Brees fucks up Jay. Sorry.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Horrible underthrow. Had a guy in the end zone. Gamble returned it to the 45.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
Well it might have been a good read on Gamble. Just saw the replay.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
No one made him sign there. I get so tired of athletes bitching about their situations (especially in salary cap sports, ESPECIALLY in basketball) when they fucking took a lot of money to preclude/make difficult the acquisition of other talent. You can be happy with your money or you can be happy about your situation, but if the former is good then seriously, shut the fuck up, rich guy. Work harder, be better, deal with it.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
I disagree…I don’t think they have a whole lot of individual talent.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Why did Sean Payton and Drew Brees want to pass it there? RUN THE GD BALL!
November 8th, 2009 at 4:55 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 4:55 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
i blame george bush when the bears defense gets shredded. anything to keep me from blaming lovie.

November 8th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
And in no way am I saying there is anything wrong with them taking the money. They should take the money. I’m just saying that when you’re say, Paul Pierce, and you sign a huge contract with the Celtics, and you aren’t good enough to be the franchise player, and you bitch about your situation, I don’t like you. Kevin Mchale gave that guy a whole different career.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Saints are in big trouble this time. Carolina can run and keep the ball from the Saints. Miami couldn’t.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
But… I just… Manning isn’t…. Rivers can’t… ARRRRRRGGGGGGH!!!!

Does anyone besides Sparty not believe this?
November 8th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
And in no way am I saying there is anything wrong with them taking the money.
I do. Fuck ‘em. STFU and play instead of bitching. He is Alvin harper all over again (not speed-wise), looking more valuable because of the other guy who gets you a lot of money. Then, you go to the other place, and get exposed for what you are: average.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
It’s not even a contest.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
I disagree…I don’t think they have a whole lot of individual talent.
Nay. Charles Woodson and Cullen Jenkins. But I agree with you for the most part. We have ZERO direction from the coaching staff.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:00 pm
he was average last year. 9 yards a fucking catch
November 8th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
JPQ, I’m just saying if someone is willing to give you a lot of money, regardless of if you deserve that money or not, I don’t begrudge you taking it. I do begrudge you whining afterwards.

November 8th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Has anyone’s body broken down so quickly from steroids as Merriman’s has in the past two years? The guy fuckin sucks.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Whitlock’s fox sports column was all about how Favre was right and Thompson is a douche this week or last.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Begrudgingly, sure. But Rivers still blows.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
I’ve been assuming the opposite. Seems like you gotta stop after you fuck up once in the NFL.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Green Bay stuck in right in my butt today and made sure i liked it. Goddamn, i’m hittin a cold streak with games as of lately.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Also would throw Clay Matthews, Greg Jennings, and Driver on there too, but they just had bad games today. Everybody decided to collectively shit the bed against the worst team in the NFL…shall be interesting to see who they make the scapegoat at the end of the season.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Go check out Vince Young, guys.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:06 pm
Yes, but who knows how long he was taking the junk before he actually got caught, who knows. He’s not old enough to already be losing a step and it seems like he’s lost two.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Cooper Manning > Eli Manning
November 8th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
If Favre makes a push at the SB and Rodgers continues to regress and not get the ball off quickly, of course it will be Thompson
November 8th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
His losing a step was losing the steroids.
/I actually assume he’s still on shit, so I don’t know what my point is.

November 8th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 5:18 pm

@Cabbage
I don’t think Murphy would give total control to Holmgren, so no. Wolf and Holmgren working together back in the 90s was tits though so maybe Holmgren could be convinced to give up the GM duties. Of course that leaves us with trying to find a GM that gets along with Holmgren…Guess what I’m really saying is… come back to Green Bay Ron!
November 8th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
I actually thought the fights were really good last night. All 4 were fairly competitive and provided a good variety of fighting styles.

/old obscure TV reference
November 8th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
My wife and I watched and enjoyed them as well. I’m by no means putting down any of the quality of the fights. Production is so-so. But to me since everyone that has tv has CBS and what Strikeforce was up against in that timeslot(next to nothing) I would say that number is surprisingly low.
My guess is UFC 105 draws an equal or higher number even with Spike reaching millions of less homes.

Early frost or no rain?
That’s adorable. Not in real life dude.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
i need dallas to take desean jackson out of the game for me to have a chance
November 8th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
stabbinkabbin,
I used to work NFL games and have been in the truck. They have a mandatory number of first half and second half commercials. They only start running commercials after kickoffs when there’s a long time-consuming drive and they need to make sure they meet all the requirements. Right there the Saints scored in the first NINETY SECONDS of the third quarter. They were not behind and anybody who has worked a game will tell you they did not need to run a break there.
And I absolutely think it took a lot of air out of the Saints and definitely the fans.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
Thank you Rivers! Good strategy: keep the weird satellite dish microphone away from the big fired-up football player after he scores a touchdown.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
you shut your cotdamn mouth! when is the mighty plantation going to be released?!
November 8th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
Not the news I watch. They can’t wait to talk about how U.S./British policy radicalized people who were completely loyal to the country prior to the Bush years.

November 8th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
How many Phil Simms highlights will they force feed us today? Is it his birthday, or is he dying?
November 8th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
BTW, Nothing is gheyer than Farmville. Except maybe someone posting all their accomplishments from the game on their facebook.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
you shut your cotdamn mouth! when is the mighty plantation going to be released?!
From your keyboard to god’s ears brother.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
I did not know that, i just wouldn’t say i blame FOX for killing your momentum, your first point was valid tho, you have no answer for D’angelo Williams, everything else is secondary.

November 8th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
i hate my friends on facebook. the fuckers never play any games so im always fucked when it comes to shit like that. thats why i prefer farm town. its up to ME when i can expand my farm not someone choosing to play the fucking game
November 8th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
In general I feel it’s been talked about though. Sure as shit it’s all that’s on talk radio.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
TIE GAME! BOMB TO MEACHEM!
November 8th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
That should get your momentum going again, Meachem and Henderson all day, i need to keep Colston off the fantasy board
November 8th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
How I know I’m old.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Updating the most mundane things about your personal life on your facebook status is the gheyest shit ever. Write something funny and make me laugh and your good. I don’t wanna hear about your grandmother who passed away 3 years ago today or how your soo stressed with life and wish it would end…..i usually just click the “i like” button when i see this bullshit.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
I still don’t like our chances unless we make Jake fuck up.
We haven’t come close to stopping Williams.
But that’s a good start. False start Panthers.

My friend broke up with a girl he dated for a month, and they broke up about four months ago. He still writes statuses about her.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
No, old is not having a fucking clue what Farmville is.
/should’ve known something wasn’t right when I saw the word withered
November 8th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
Shit. Jake converted a 3rd and 13.
He has never lost in the Superdome. He just owns us. That happens sometimes.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Seconded. WARNING: That really creepy Sosa pic is on that link as well.

“Jake Delhomme’s balls seem kinda high.”–Brian Billick
(insert your own joke)
November 8th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Finally. 5 yard loss for Stewart on 3rd and 3.
Saints should bet the ball back here.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
It’s some farm game on facebook that fags and housewives play.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Anytime a company’s commercial centers around a gag that says “It’s funny because it’s an old song!” deserves to go bankrupt. It has nothing to do with a product, it’s not funny, it’s not entertaining, it’s excruciating. Please stop, e-trade.
I’m pretty sure I blathered about this last week too.

November 8th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
gsg: im listening to the allen hunt show on that topic. hunt is riding a slippery slope with that topic. because unfortunately some people who dont have a fully functioning brain will hear that and take it to mean they have a right to harass random muslim people.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
How I know I’m old.
No, old is not having a fucking clue what Farmville is.
What I meant. Someone is trying to find me to get me to go to a wedding and is harassing my 18 year old sister on facebook. In the good old days Don Draper just assumed new identities.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
I play scrabble on facebook. Thats because Im a loser that likes mind games and Sporcle.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
So playing these games on Facebook would probably require looking at your page more than once a week?
November 8th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
I generally like Allen Hunt, but i was sort of shocked that he went this rout on the topic. I hope he’s not letting his Christian leanings get the best of him (He’s a former pastor)
November 8th, 2009 at 6:33 pm
The exact shit i’m talkin about, no one really needs to know or care about that.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Pierre Thomas is doing his DeAngelo Williams impersonation on this drive. Started at the 3. Now past midfield.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
fucking hell man. come on rivers, complete a pass beyond the line of scrimmage. i need these numbers
November 8th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Peirre Thomas or Devery for a TD please
November 8th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Yeah, I had a high school classmate I barely knew writing literally 2 dozen “I hate ObamaCare” status updates a day.
I’m not saying whether I agree with him or not. But dude, get a life.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
/left myself wide open on purpose there
November 8th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
So go to the wedding and half way through the reception beat the shit out of the person harassing your sister. Unless that person is a woman, then don’t do anything because hitting a woman is wrong, wrong, wrong.
/you can teach an old dog new tricks
November 8th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
Giants/Chargers game, they were about to cut to their 4th commercial break in less than 15 minutes, it was after a punt, there was even a guy hurt… but someone on CBS actually said “You know what? That’s enough commercials. We’re sticking with the game.” Upset of the week.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
Haha +1 cabbage.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
/you can teach an old dog new tricks
I just thought the wording was funny, I wasn’t the one giving you deep shit about it. If you need a hug I’m here though.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
yeah hunt said “he didnt go postal, he went muslim.” wow. wrong.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Saints inside the Red Zone. 5:20
November 8th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Mrejr, give him a call. He usually lets the military to the front of the line, especially on a story like this.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
SHIT! Colston drops the touchdown. He is SO off his game today. They might review it.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
what the hell I should have picked up Meachem I guess
November 8th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
Battle of vagina qb’s: Giants take a 17-14 lead.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
They’re reviewing it, but this is where they miss Lance Moore. He doesn’t drop anything. I don’t think we’re gonna win the review.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Iggles -3 tonight?
November 8th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
No TD.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:44 pm
Shit. And now a holding call on a first down conversion inside the 5.
Carney has not been reliable this year.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Fucking Tomlinson is extinct.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Carney nails it this time. 23-20. 4:36 left. Too much time.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
In Philly, sure why not
November 8th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
Did Colston take Carolina + the points?
His worst game in a long, long time.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:47 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 6:52 pm

They’re going for it.

November 8th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
But wait! Called back, only a 41 yard run, no TD
I was wondering about that. What if I had jumped?! How would you feel then?
November 8th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Rivers throws a duck over the middle for an easy pick, first and goal Giants with the lead, 3 minutes left
November 8th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Wow, Rivers is a sad panda.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
3rd and 8. Need a first down to win it. If they run and don’t convert, Panthers get the ball at the 2 minute warning and no time outs.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Fucking Rivers. That better not cost me. What a pussy ass throw.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Fucking Sean Payton. Throws an incomplete pass.
YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT, PAYTON.
They’ll get the ball back with 2:20 left.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
i would call in but im afraid whatever i said would just go right over his head and callers would call in and say “that guy is just stoopid. im gonna go firembomb a mosque fuck this shit!”
November 8th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
Saints down the punt at the 2.
November 8th, 2009 at 6:58 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
d’angelo fumble, CJ TD, awful sequence of events for me
November 8th, 2009 at 7:01 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
new post.
November 8th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Eh, I’d call considering you offer a differing opinion. he doesn’t berate his callers.
November 8th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Why would anyone expect 60 Minutes at 6:00 (or whatever time your living in) during Football season? That’s like apoligizing for the restaurant being crowded on a Saturday night at 6:30.
November 8th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
I just breathed a sigh of relief. Thanks DeAngelo for fumbling!
November 8th, 2009 at 7:03 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 7:11 pm

November 8th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
