Shaq’s ex wife is only going to get half of the money (aka community property – salary, increased values in real estate, stock apprehension, etc) “they” made together has a couple within the six years that they were married. However, if he commingled his pre-marriage funds, it maybe difficult to determine what the value of the community property.

Kobe on the other hand married his wife early in his career. 3 years in I believe, so she is going to be entitled half of most of his career earnings.

Professional athletes interested in protecting their wealth, should get married after their playing careers have ended.
