Journalists Continue to Float Silly LeBron Solutions
1-liner, NBA November 11th. 2009, 2:30pmLeBron James: We’re barely two weeks into the season and already growing tired of all these incredibly silly LeBron James trade/free agent ideas being floated by journalists. Although nothing will top John Hollinger’s incredibly nutty Minnesota Timberwolves head-scratcher from the weekend, this one’s up there: “the Cavs should send him to … the Los Angeles Lakers. King James for promising center Andrew Bynum … Their salaries are close enough to make a match. James will earn $15.7 million this season and Bynum $12.5 million. If the Lakers add Shannon Brown ($2 million) or some cash and/or a draft choice to the transaction, the blockbuster works.” LeBron is a proven top three player in the league. Bynum has potential, but he’s got an injury-ridden history. Next. [Orlando Sentinel]

Lakers = No shot.
And this is coming from a Lakers fan.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:34 PM
I like that Wilbon thinks the Cavs should go get AI. His NBA knowledge is worst than TBL and college football.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:34 PM
There’s no way this team sniffs even close to 60 wins this year, there are distractions everywhere on this team.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:35 PM
TBL floating LeBron to the Knicks in 2007 = diligent blogging
Sentinal throwing out a LeBron trade scenario backed with numbers in 2009 = silly journalism
November 11th, 2009 at 2:36 PM
LeBron would be a true beast on this court.

Brian Schmitz wants to trade Vince to Cleveland for Lebron
LeBron to Orlando for Vince Carter. (Sorry Vince). It’s far-fetched, as the Cavs wouldn’t want to turn Orlando into a title favorite from the East for the next decade. But they would receive an eight-time all-star whose contract expires after next season. The Magic would have to dump some serious salary down the line to sign James and pair him with Dwight Howard. (Here’s the Rashard Lewis contract albatross at work). This could be a terrific route for James — and Orlando — to a title if he’ll play for 89 cents. What if the Magic threw in center Marcin Gortat with Carter and. say, took on another Cavs’ contract to complete a deal for LeBron? Hmmmm?

this post is why TBL took the afternoon off…nothing intelligent to talk about/no scandalous hats to post, so he throws this in the hopper to drop after he jets. smoove move, TBL.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:43 PM
why would the cavs willingly take back shannon brown, a shitty player they had no desire to keep even after burning a 1st rounder on him?
why would the cavs want bynum?
why would the cavs want to suddenly save money even tho they’ve been burning it like a bum burns trash and have an endless pile of it?
why would the cavs TRADE CLEVELAND’S ECONOMY?
i hate people.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:45 PM
Hey look, it’s Craig Ehlo!
November 11th, 2009 at 2:45 PM
I love people throwing shit up against the wall praying and hoping that it stick so they can say “I called it!”. This is driving me crazy. Now excuse me while i go sit in the corner and make figurines out of my own shit.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:48 PM
Pfft, Hernia this chick would destroy fresh prince.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:49 PM
No way Wilbon’s knowledge is that bad. No way
November 11th, 2009 at 2:51 PM
Durant, Harden and Collison for LeBron
/would never happen either
November 11th, 2009 at 2:52 PM
this trade would make me stop and think for a second.
…
still wouldn’t make it, but durantula in the cleve? i could imagine worse things.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:55 PM
The thunder would be my number one option and Durant my number one player if the Cavs were ever dumb enough to trade LeBron.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:57 PM
I dunno PLSK and Spencer. Is it really that dumb? I probably wouldn’t trade him, but you get the inevitable question of wouldn’t you rather get something for him than have him walk?
He’s walking. Spencer has accepted that.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:57 PM
It works on the trade machine, Spence.
You seem to be pessimistic about LeBron’s chances of staying, so wouldn’t you want to get something back for him?
November 11th, 2009 at 2:58 PM
/high five Fetch
November 11th, 2009 at 2:59 PM
But why would OKC do it? No way LeBron stays in OKC.
November 11th, 2009 at 2:59 PM
and then NickP would suddenly become a Durant apologist.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:01 PM
You lose points for linking the intro with Reggie Theus instead of Dick Butkus.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:01 PM
SC- If i were Dan Gilbery, by trading him, you are sending the wrong message to the fans. The “what if” factor would stick to Cleveland forever and just be another blemish on the tortured sports city. I don’t think you trade one of the greatest players of your generation and let it go to free agency. You do the best you can with keeping him in town and if he scoots, he leaves, you did all you could. I think he’s gonna leave, but you never know because LeBron is dragging this on and not giving an subtle clues of what he’s gonna do. He’s giving both Cleveland and New York blues balls and playing the owners like puppets, which i think is smart. Let it go to free agency and go to war.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:02 PM
SC…you’ve proven that, on this subject, you really have no idea what you’re talking about.
re: trading lebron…yes, i’ve come to the realization that he’s as good as gone. i also see it big picture and realize that 90% of the fanbase would be gone as would the minority investors, and frankly, if lebron goes, basketball in cleveland is dead.
do i want something for him? no. i want to watch the greatest singular basketball player who walks the earth today all to myself. i want to root for him. there’s nothing that can replace what lebron has done for this city, no young stud, no slew of talented players.
it’s like an ex-gf who you really liked…id rather just never speak to that person again and get the memories out of my brain so it doesn’t hurt whenever i think about it.
even if the haul could get durantula, it wouldn’t be nearly the same. it’d just be a bunch of guys from other parts of the country who don’t know what it’s like to be from NE Ohio. you could get MJ and duncan in their primes and i wouldn’t give a flying fuck.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:03 PM
He’s walking. Spencer has accepted that
I’m going to stick with him staying in Cleveland
November 11th, 2009 at 3:03 PM
Probably wrong choice of words for today. Happy Veterans day to all the vets out there.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:05 PM
and then NickP would suddenly become a Durant apologist
funny
November 11th, 2009 at 3:07 PM
ummmm…..really? how does the WWL pay these journalists to make this garbage up? majority of it is not even close to realistic. by the way, long time reader here, TBL finally hooked me up with a username. Big ups to TBL for that. Oh yeah, I’m a Clevelander as well….
November 11th, 2009 at 3:10 PM
See Clown already pointed out the obvious…just yesterday from Ballin’: Utah 95, New York 93: At some point, the question will become – would LeBron really go to a team this bad?
If it’s an annoying topic don’t mention it once a day
November 11th, 2009 at 3:11 PM
welcome to
waiting for next year 2.0the big lead.November 11th, 2009 at 3:12 PM
I’m SHOCKED.
Beating your
meatchest again? I don’t normally jump into the LeBron threads. Mostly because, like my Rivers hate, it skews me. But if it makes you feel better, I’d rather have LeBron play in the UC than Marmalard under center at Solider.November 11th, 2009 at 3:17 PM
SC…i beat my meat like it owes me money.
and it has nothing to do with your lebron hate/love/whatever…it’s that EVERYWHERE is a possibility and you approach the subject with all the tact of a sledgehammer, pissing off cavs fans the instant you jump in.
and yes, i realize the same could be said about me on a trillion topics, but this one hits home, lawya…ive been watching lebron since he was a frosh at my rival high school. while ive realized that he’s gone in 2010, it’s nice to have that sliver of comfort that cleveland IS still a possibility, and the cavs are in a great position to keep him. you just ignore this…hurting both my civic and cavalier pride.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:20 PM
no one has mention that small fact that the Cavs would have three centers? THREE centers and Mo Williams being your only scoring option doesn’t sound like either a winning formula nor a “pay to see the Cavs!” move either.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:23 PM
you said it, we don’t know, no one knows, take your chances in FA.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:25 PM
Shaq and Ilgauskas are both gone after this year, which is when a sign and trade would take place.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:27 PM
oh, ok. My bad. Missed that point, Clown. I’m going back to sleep.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:30 PM
Still, a Bynum/Mo team would still suck. What top free agent will want to go to Cleveland without Lebron being there?
November 11th, 2009 at 3:32 PM
simplified and made real.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:33 PM
They’re trading them to the lakers for Kobe.

November 11th, 2009 at 3:34 PM
I was trying to be nice, spence. Who would want to follow Lebron large shadow? Any off night and you’ll here “Lebron wouldn’t have played that bad”.
November 11th, 2009 at 3:38 PM
to be honest, if lebron leaves, nobody in cleveland will care about the cavs. there were probably 1,000 total people at cavs games before he got there…and it was awesome.
