The Browns Are Gonna be on TV!
1-liner, NFL November 14th. 2009, 1:30pm
Cleveland Browns Unfortunately Avoid Blackout: “The Browns have averted their first TV blackout since 1995. The team announced Thursday night that the remaining tickets for Monday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens have been purchased by the Browns, ESPN, Bud Light and WJW-TV, which will air the game.” If the Budweiser Clydesdales don’t have front row seats for this one, we should all be furious. Wait … MNF games are shown locally in Cleveland and not on, um, ESPN?
How does that work?

They’ve relocated to Belgium to brew Stella Artois.

When Atlanta played New Orleans on a MNF a few weeks back, they showed it on local CBS and ESPN, which I thought was odd.

Don’t they play Jets or Giants on Channel 11 under the same scenario?

I think that national games on cable channels have to be made locally available over the air.

I wanna say my9 Hernia. WThe local regionalk affiliate has rights to broadcast the MNF AND TNF games. We are just still are new to the games being on cable on mondays and thursdays.

so, there wouldn’t have been a blackout anyway, and thus no post named ‘The Browns Are Gonna Be On TV!’?

Only if it’s a sellout, though. In all honesty, it’s a stain on more than just the home team if a MNF game doesn’t sellout, and is blacked out. Looks pretty bad for the league, ESPN, everybody.

Hernia, I was browsing through your site last night.
Those Francesa pieces had me dying. Good stuff.

I think I’ve become a fan of the KFC commercial with animated versions of Westbrook, D Ware, Megatron, and Rivers. Too bad their food sucks.

Thanks man. He’s been extra ornery since being on his own.

KFC tastes like fried salt. Give me the sassy black lady from New Orleans who can’t believe how cheap her chicken is any day.

One thing Duke football does well: uniforms. Those things are sharp

Ha — I also enjoyed the Phillies’ fans going apocalyptic on you in the comments when you screwed up the thing about the dead announcer’s shoes or whatever.

cabin fever–stuck at home with sick kid, ruining it for the other three kids (me included). waiting for him to puke, but so far, an hour after medicine, some milk and some hot dogs, it’s all still down
