Jon Gruden Will Not be Taking the Notre Dame Job – or Any Other – This Offseason
1-liner, College Football, ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings November 16th. 2009, 10:15amJon Gruden: “Jon Gruden has agreed to an exclusive multi-year agreement with the company. In addition to his MNF role alongside play-by-play commentator Mike Tirico and analyst Ron Jaworski, Gruden will appear on ESPN’s NFL Draft and Super Bowl week coverage, among other platforms, and he will call the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl in South Florida on January 31, 2010. Gruden will serve as an analyst for ESPN Radio’s 2010 Rose Bowl and BCS title game broadcasts.” Notre Dame fans can cross Gruden’s name off the list. No other name besides Cincinnati’s Brian Kelly (that connection began last Fall) has legitimately surfaced in the hunt to replace Weis, who seems certain to be canned at season’s end. [ESPN PR]

You can finally count me amongst the Notre Dame fans who think Weis needs to be canned. When you’re looking up at Bob Davie in the record books, it’s time to move on.

I’m not a fan of having analysts double dip.

You think he finally realized that getting up at 4AM every day sucks ass?

I’ve been an Irish fan my entire life. Never rooted for them to lose, until Saturday. ABC. Anyone But Charlie

For those of us who are tired of Notre Dame posts

Call Urban Meyer, make him a strong offer, make him say no to you. Then hire Brian Kelly. Kelly will be the logical legit choice, but you at least have to make an offer to Urban.

At least TBL’s come around and realized that Kelly is the
rightonly option.November 16th, 2009 at 10:38 AM
Notre Dame will fuck this up. Remember, they were the ones dumb enough to give Chaz Cheeseburger an extension after losing to USC.

The 5th best team in the Pac-10 beat the Big-10 champion on the road.

The only thing worse than another Notre Dame post is another stupid as fuck Pac10 is better than Big10 argument.
November 16th, 2009 at 10:45 AM
There is an argument?

1) what kind of a buyout does chucky have if he takes the redskins job next year?
2) am i the only one (besides tom curran) who thinks chucky is way too over-the-top of an analyst? everybody is great. everybody does a fine job on every play. his analysis is so syrupy, i tend to start digging for waffles in my freezer when i watch monday night football.

Sanders…why? The games are in the same location, and a week apart.
November 16th, 2009 at 11:02 AM
Plus MNF will already be over.
November 16th, 2009 at 11:18 AM
Bet Chucky has clause for ND job.
November 16th, 2009 at 11:27 AM
Bingo. Offer Meyer the moon and the stars, if (more like when) he says no, go get Kelly for 3 mil a year.

I’m going to go ahead and let you guys in on a little secret…Bob Stoops is going to be the next head coach at Notre Dame. I say this with 90% confidence.
November 16th, 2009 at 11:38 AM
What about the 10% Jay V?

There are two conferences in college football that have fans, and those two fanbases disagree about which is better? I HADN’T HEARD!
November 16th, 2009 at 11:40 AM
Are you kidding? I’m not saying it won’t happen, but it makes zero sense if you’re Stoops.
November 16th, 2009 at 11:43 AM
No joke. If you’ve got a knock about winning big games against you at Oklahoma, why would you turn up the heat (with an increased degree of difficulty) by going to Notre Dame?
November 16th, 2009 at 11:45 AM
Irish…the other 10% is a mix of backup plan: Brian Kelly/Kirk Ferentz/Jim Harbaugh. I’m pretty sure that they aren’t even going to bother trying to deal with Meyer…there are a LOT of hard feelings about the last go-around.
In lesser coaching news…but with a twitch of ND-related content…I hear that Ty Willingham is most likely going to be UNLV’s choice.
November 16th, 2009 at 12:06 PM
After Meyer takes ND back to the top those feelings would go away.

Ferentz isn’t leaving Iowa City. He has it made.
