Media Feuds: Tony Kornheiser Still Hates Mike Wise
1-liner, Media Gossip/Musings November 17th. 2009, 10:10amTony Kornheiser vs. Mike Wise: After the Redskins lost to the Falcons, Washington Post columnist Mike Wise – not Jon Heyman’s BFF – wondered if Washington would ever win again this year. Of course, it beat Denver Sunday. Here’s Kornheiser on the radio, today: “They won in the way–and I guess you’d have to have lived here, or paid attention for a while and not come to town and start writing columns when you don’t know–they won in the way … the notion that people who have written columns in this city saying they’re not gonna win any more games. THE NEXT GAME THEY WON. Now what is your position? Now you write a column saying optimism is unbridled and we can go all the way? Is that what you’re gonna tell people, because you have no idea what you’re talking about?” Love an angry, ranting Tony Kornheiser. He was our journalism idol growing up in the DC area in the 80s. TBL commenter feuds > Washington media feuds

There was some other altercation in the press box Sunday involving someone from the Washington Time, I think. I heard a piece of an interview on sports radio and apparently some female media member’s unprofessionalism offended several people in the box and I think it got physical. Good times in DC these days.

you are correct jpq…
O/T – showing my age here BIG TIME, but did anyone used to watch “The Equalizer”? The lead actor died. All my cultural icons, dropping one by one.
End O/T

Rex Ryan is a crybaby and Ray Lewis is a hypocrite. That is all.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:33 AM
Holy crap…I LOVED that show. I have the entire series on an external HD. That was a triple blow…Ken Ober, EDward Woodward, and Bobby Frankel…all in a 24 hour period.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:34 AM
Also…Mike Wise is a serious douche.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:34 AM
I generally love me some Kornheiser, but this is a joke.
The Skins stink.
He is annoyed that a guy wrote that they might only win 2 games. He says he thinks they will win 4. Really, that is worth taking shots at?
He says that this game meant more because Denver has really good fans? what int he world does that mean?
He says that they won by running the ball which is like some sort of Skins secret sauce that only the locals know?
And again with this notion that the Skins are somehow more loved than any other team. Petty ridiculousness.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:36 AM
Yes, which is why Sunday was so fucking painful.
WHO DIDN’T SEE THAT FAKE FIELD GOAL COMING?
November 17th, 2009 at 10:37 AM
anyone else annoyed at how Tony and Wilbon played the stupid card when it came to the rookies of the year?
November 17th, 2009 at 10:38 AM
TK stack money is the man!!
November 17th, 2009 at 10:39 AM
IIRC, The Equalizer went back-to-back with Scarecrow and Mrs. King (or was it Wiseguy?). Either way, quite the formidable duo.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:39 AM
that’s almost as annoying as wilbon pretending he knows shit about the NBA.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:39 AM
Sure, but IMO they are no worse than the Broncos.

The Skins stink.
Just wait til they beat the Cowgirls next week and the local media starts the hype machine, again.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:43 AM
The Equalizer was great, as was Scarecrow and Mrs King, but Manimal was the shit. All 5 episodes they aired.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:44 AM
If Kyle Orton doesn’t get hurt, Denver wins that game by double digits. I’m not sold that Denver is a playoff team this year (I thought 7-9 before the season starts) but that’s silly.

Can anyone (maybe TBL?) point me to a good Kornheiser comp book of his older newspaper articles? Been looking to get one for a while, not sure which
November 17th, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Can’t go wrong with “I’m Back for More Cash”, S1.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:49 AM

the first one is called Pumping Irony, and the second is is I’m back for more cash. you can get them both at abebooks for a penny apiece, plus postage.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:53 AM
Back for More Cash, Pumping Irony, and Bald as I Want to Be. I thought there was one more but I guess it’s not a comp book.
Thanks, Rex, I’ll check it out

He wanted “Tuesdays, I’m Laurie”, but Albom pitched a whiny bitch about the idea. Would love to have seen TK in drag on the cover.

He was also in one of the best, and unheralded films of all time, Breaker Morant.
One of his best lines in the film was his last, when he yelled to the firing squad, “Shoot straight, you bastards – don’t make a mess of it!”

Kornheiser hit that one out of the park …living in that area for 7.5 years, that is exactly how the local media and those douchbags in DC roll …I thought it could not get worse but then three years after I left DC here I am still in Philly
