Bowl Game You Don’t Want Your Team Playing In
1-liner, College Football, Media Gossip/Musings November 20th. 2009, 10:10amBCS Announcers: Bad news if your team makes the Sugar Bowl -Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick will be the announcers. We still cringe at the thought of Brennaman slurping Tim Tebow in January. The good news is that Musburger and Herbstreit will call the National title game and the Rose Bowl. The Orange Bowl: Dick Stockton and Charles Davis. They might get the other battle of unbeatens – TCU and Boise State. Oops, our bad – Penn State’s going to be the BCS pick there. [USA Today]

TCU or Boise State is gonna beat the shit out of Bama in the Sugar Bowl.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:14 am
Yuck, I hope not, I’d rather get invasive dental work than watch them or OSU play again this year.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:16 am
bitch.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:17 am
If Bama is in the Sugar Bowl, I could see a repeat of last years uninspired performance, but I like their chances against Tebow this year.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:17 am
At least you didn’t tell me to shut the fuck up.

Dick Stockton is one of the better announcers of all time, but the man is damn near senile. I switch to the radio if he’s calling a Falcon game.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:20 am
I don’t understand all the hatred on Thom. Sure he had his slurp job of Tebow, but who in the media doesn’t act like that around him. Verne does it every weekend. Brennaman’s call during the Boise St upset over OU was great game calling. I wish more announcers showed that type of entusiasm during big games.

At least you didn’t tell me to shut the fuck up.
Or disparage your football knowledge and call you a dipshit. Those BCS selections, past 1, 2 and automatic are really mainly just about who travels the best. I cant’ imagine Boise will descend on New Orleans with all 50 thousand of its residents.

Why does Dick Stockton get paired with Charles Davis? Stockton is good. Why not put Stockton with someone who is, and I know this is crazy, also good.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Hey – it could be worse – they could be letting Barry Alvarez call the games again.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Brennaman’s Tebow love isn’t any worse than Collinsworth’s Brady crush. At least Brennaman never put a Tebow jersey on in the studio and pronounced him the player of the game BEFORE the game started.

What if there wasn’t an SEC Championship game? Would we have back to back years of Florida/Alabama for the BCS Championship? Or would the vote change to get Texas in this year?
November 20th, 2009 at 10:25 am
shut the fuck up…how dare you compare OSU with those hillbillies from happy valley.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:26 am
They’ve been working together on NFL games this season…I liked Davis better on the Big Ten Network
November 20th, 2009 at 10:27 am
I wonder if Kirk and Herbie will again spend the whole Rose Bowl telling us how much [insert Pac-10 champion here] deserves to be in the BCS title game.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:28 am
bsanders: On NFL Network on Sunday AM, Faulk and Irvin did a “Who ‘Ya Got, Brady or Manning?” debate. Faulk took Brady (Peyton had the same offensive system/coordinator/HC, #1 talent, etc). Irvin took Peyton (after watching Cassel, maybe Brady is a system QB?)
Peyton isn’t gonna be too happy w/ Marshall next time he sees him, i’d imagine
November 20th, 2009 at 10:32 am
Oh well. I loved Marshall as a player, but he was a prick at every training camp I ever went to when I was little. Besides, I’ll go with the 20 hall of fame QB’s they polled before Sunday’s game. 13 votes to 2.5 with a few of them abstaining. Not Terry Bradshaw, though. He loves him some rings.

Bring back the team of Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:38 am
It’ll be a new experience listening to Musberger doing a Rose Bowl and not turning it into a 4-hour infomercial for USC.
/hopefully
November 20th, 2009 at 10:38 am
I’m a BIG fan of Franlklin. Gottfried, meh.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:39 am

November 20th, 2009 at 10:41 am
Dude…No Pat Summerall? I miss that guy…
November 20th, 2009 at 10:42 am
He had been doing the Cotton Bowl, I think.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:42 am
Poor Gottfried would still be finishing his thought and they’d be just coming back from commercial
November 20th, 2009 at 10:44 am
Yes, thank goodness the announcers booth at the Cotton Bowl has an oxygen hookup on the wall.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:44 am
Ya Jay, still is. I was really hoping for him in the bCS lineup this year.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:47 am
TCU or Boise State is gonna beat the shit out of Bama in the Sugar Bowl.
We’ll let the Gators have that game this year. Besides, I know the Horns are terrified of playing TCU this year.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:52 am
A team that can actually put points on the board? Hell yes they are.
November 20th, 2009 at 10:55 am
You tried this last year and it didn’t work. You going to the game?
November 20th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Fox HD rules.
November 20th, 2009 at 11:04 am
You going to the game?
I was ready to pull the trigger on tickets last week. Only problem is that I don’t have any friends willing to pay $500/ticket. How about you?You always seem to go to these big games…
November 20th, 2009 at 11:05 am

November 20th, 2009 at 11:09 am

November 20th, 2009 at 11:13 am
unless iowa drops their game tomorrow, they will get the nod over penn state for a bcs.
ask the orange bowl how well the cornfeds travel.
November 20th, 2009 at 11:13 am
@Trey – damn you. FML! I just couldn’t convince myself to go alone. Well… I hope you enjoy the game, even with a loss.
November 20th, 2009 at 11:17 am
Nah, I went with some other people…just only had 1 extra. I wouldn’t go alone…or would I?
