Big Brain’s Big Ol’ College Football Top 25
College Football, Video November 23rd. 2009, 3:55pm
Not a lot of shuffle, as expected. Alabama and Florida played schools they were gonna truck. Texas played a school that woulda given ‘em a close game … two years ago. The Charlie Weis era “officially” ended. Nevada is beastly when it comes to college football and rushing attack. (Love the pistol offense.) Do they have any chance against Boise State? See you Friday night, Chris Petersen. Onto the rankings:
1. Florida Gators – All about December 5th now, although if next weekend is Bowden’s last game as coach of FSU, well, that COULD be a trap.
2. Alabama Crimson Tide – All about December 5th, although let’s not forget Auburn started 5-0.
3. Texas Longhorns – Colt just needs to avoid this dude in the Big 12 title game:
4. TCU Horned Frogs – You’ve probably seen this, but here’s the best profile of their coach, Gary Patterson, you’ll likely ever read.
5. Cincinnati Bearcats – Pitt game’ll be interesting, mostly because it’ll be Brian Kelly’s second-to-last game as coach here.
6. Boise State Broncos – They only beat Nevada 41-34 last year and 69-67 (not a misprint) in 2007. Just saying.
7. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — ACC title game is a battle of the first two backs off the board in April 2010.
8. Pittsburgh Panthers
9. Oregon Ducks – If they win Civil War and get OSU (the other one, i.e. Ohio State) in the Rose Bowl, what’s the final? 27-20 Oregon seems logical.
10. Ohio State Buckeyes
11. Iowa Hawkeyes – If they replayed the PSU game right now, PSU would win by 21.
12. Penn State Nittany Lions
13. Oklahoma State Cowboys
14. Oregon State Beavers
15. Miami Hurricanes — Will open next season ranked Top 8.
16. LSU Tigers – Think there’s a chance he does have the Michigan job in 2011? I’d say 12 percent.
17. Clemson Tigers
18. Virginia Tech Hokies
19. BYU Cougars
20. Utah Utes
21. USC Trojans
22. California Golden Bears
23. Houston Cougars
24. Ole Miss Rebels
25. North Carolina Tar Heels – Butch Davis has done well here, but considering how highly-recruited Marvin Austin and some of these dudes were, you’d think he’d be a top-15 team as December approaches in a generally-weak ACC, no?

The Oregon-Oregon State game is going to be sweet. Top-5 game all year. Clemson-GT should be good as well. After the SEC title game it will be the next-best conf. title game.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:00 PM
Steve Spurrier to Notre Dame. you heard it here first.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:02 PM
Did you hear that Alabama and Florida? Your biggest rivalry games aren’t that important.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:02 PM
No way, no how. That shit would be blow my mind.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:03 PM
College Football? Never heard of it.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:04 PM
fuck Missouri
/basketball school’d
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:04 PM
because of how much sense it makes? spurrier would fit ND like a glove.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:05 PM
It’s always sweet. Seems like every year one team makes some inexplicable decision that costs them the game.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:06 PM
danny wuerffel isnt walking through that door
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:06 PM
Can’t golf year round in South Bend.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:07 PM

November 23rd, 2009 at 4:07 PM
No. Sorry, not happening.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:08 PM
He hates recruiting and he hates cold weather. Oh, and he is damn near 70
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:08 PM
For example…
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:08 PM
Will open next season ranked Top 8
you know it Big Brain
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:09 PM
Excellent Dirty Dozen reference.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:10 PM
cassino, you have to be elated the Apple Cup is in Seattle this year. Should give you enough of an advantage that you can pull out a victory (unlike last year).
/laughs uncontrollably
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:11 PM
dammit i was trying to get the rumore buig enough to where ESPN picks it up! i cant do it by myself!
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:11 PM
Go Ducks. Civil war on a thursday is bullshit.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:11 PM
Cannot subscribe to this statement, even as a State fan. Clark is not big-game enough. Typical PSU year. Feast on the easy competition. Suck when playing superior teams.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:12 PM
To Hell With Georgia
/that is all
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:12 PM
Because the Cocks are winning the SEC next year.

November 23rd, 2009 at 4:13 PM
We’ve established Spencer is writing this right? I’ll be a bojack homer (pour one out for Paolo) and point out we beat Miami by many many points in Blacksburg, also we have the same record. Furthermore, LSU has done: dick, shit and nothing all year.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:13 PM
jay v – are we nemesises and I didn’t know it? if so, I feel cheated for not knowing and failing to textually assault you here in the comments.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:13 PM
bbyran, I have already made Friday a vacation day. No matter the outcome I will definitely need it. You going to the game?
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:15 PM
How do you figure?
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:15 PM
cgb…this isn’t my work. OSU would be no. 1.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:15 PM
Writing what? This feature? No way.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:16 PM
The same thing can be said about Oklahoma State
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:16 PM
*nods* but won’t finish that high.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:17 PM
Yeah lately these things have been decided pretty early on. Oregon did F’up the FG try in ‘07.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:17 PM
The same can be said for about 20 other teams in the top 25
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 PM
@Miz…lol, no, I just find myself often disagreeing with you, perhaps silently. No sweat, we aren’t nemisises.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 PM
spencer’s a dummy, but he’s no fool.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 PM
there isnt any fucks, shits or goddamns to be spence
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 PM
TBL intimated that it was someone in the CFB biz. Most likely a writer. Of course I would love to know who it is so I could read his other stuff.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:18 PM
The same thing can be said about teams 3-6.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:19 PM
fuck Missouri Spencer
Right on. I’m with you. Please go on.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:19 PM
Swing and a miss
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:20 PM
Never said that…but they will be a major threat to finish in the top 15 (which I have said), especially if sign Lattimore, which is looking like a done deal.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:20 PM
TBL intimated that it was someone in the CFB biz. Most likely a writer. Of course I would love to know who it is so I could read his other stuff. Gods
I always thought it was one of the commenters. No proof, but I didn’t know what TBL told you.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:21 PM
TCU is legit.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:22 PM
Think Michigan will go after Les Miles this season? And would LSU fans fight to keep him now?
/still sad to have missed on the Paolo funniness.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:22 PM
That makes a lot of sense actually, since the rankings are trash.
Yes, the weak ACC, in which your OWN poll includes 5 of their teams.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:23 PM
disagree with me more vocally. I get bored feeling like I’m right all the time…I like to prove it.
/being an asshat
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:23 PM
When these first came out, TBL said we would be “very surprised” what BBoB does for a living. First thing I thought of was college FB writer or analyst.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:23 PM
BBoB is actually Jason Whitlock.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:24 PM
We were all bagging on him, and TBL’s response was, “if you only knew who he was.”
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:24 PM
Hey Jay, still blaming Jefferson for Miles telling him to spike the ball?
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:26 PM
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:26 PM
We were all bagging on him, and TBL’s response was, “if you only knew who he was.”
Jerry O’Connell?
Also, what the hell am I supposed to do with all these Paolo points? Are they transferable?
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:26 PM
he thought we’d be very surprised because it’s Jerry O’Connell. but now we’re not surprised anymore because he’s been outed.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:27 PM
Huh? So do you not even watch your own rivalry game or what? Last year, yeah, Oregon State made the questionable decision of not playing defense, but before that was an overtime game and a two point game that ended on a blocked field goal.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:27 PM
Yes.
Any quarterback with half a brain wouldn’t have waited for his coach to make a decision for him.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:28 PM
Please don’t sleep on the Iron Bowl. Our offense goes into lulls but if we’re hanging around in the second-half, we could do some damage.
Not to mention this is the 20th anniversary of one of the biggest games in college football history –
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:29 PM
Oops. I misread your comment. I still blame Jefferson for waiting 15 seconds to call timeout. Miles should take the heat for the spike.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:29 PM
sexist.
Yougottabefuckingkiddingme.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:29 PM
Yeah I’m taking Thursday and Friday off. No sense in driving back to Portland Thursday night. I’ll either be celebrating or drowning in my sorrows. I’m just bitter I have to burn 2 vaca days.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:29 PM
Meant to add THIS
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:31 PM
Huge game for the Huskies, need to push that record against Northwest Schools to 2-16 over the last 6 years.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:31 PM
KC – Paolo points have an exchange rate of 200 Paolo Points = 200 Yen.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:32 PM
Please point out the “inexplicable decisions” that you speak of. UO got a FG blocked. It wasn’t a bad decision to try it.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:33 PM
He’s fucking retarded sometimes, but I still don’t think he’s Larry Coker.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:34 PM
Rankings need more Ball State
Well it was fun while it lasted having the Badgers ranked and poised for a ten win season…fuck Northwestern and their little shit stadium and their shit spread offense
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:36 PM
There is video of Miles on the sideline telling him to spike the ball.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:39 PM
Just saw this.. you really think they are #4 legit? Clemson was the only team worth a shit they beat (squeeked by), and it was early in the year when Clemson was not the team they are now.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:39 PM
Actually it’s the one game of the year I don’t watch. Yes there was those two close games in consecutive years, but 8 of the 10 before that were decided by more than 10 points. So yeah, usually these things are decided early on.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:41 PM
Utah and BYU are descent.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:42 PM
What percentage of the population watching that game was yelling at the TV that you can’t spike the ball with 1 sec left? 95%?
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:43 PM
bbryan,
I said I misread. I am conceding the spike but not the timeout.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:43 PM
Sorry missed you already touched on this. The best I can give you on the timeout blame is 50/50. Coach can step in at any time and call it.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:44 PM
2007. Tie game, Oregon ball, driving to score. Oregon State hands Oregon the game by committing a personal foul moving Oregon to the 21, and a first down with 26 seconds left. Not to be outdone, Oregon centers the ball (and moves back 3 yards) so that they can kick a field goal while time expires, which they promptly miss. They then lose in overtime.
QQ, noticed you haven’t updated your blog about basketball since the season started.
/laughs uncontrollably
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:48 PM
Yeah, I’d put three of TCU’s wins ahead of the best team Texas beat (Oklahoma State, right?)
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:48 PM
That is because it is football season. There will be more up once conference play starts.
/hang your hat on your mediocre bball team
//football is king and your team stinks
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:48 PM
Every year = one year. Boom Roasted Quizz.
/he’s got you on the basketball
//Oregon sucks too
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:49 PM
Eh I would bet that more than 5 out of 100 people watching that game were from the South. Probably closer to 50% were yelling that.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:54 PM
There are others, that’s just the most recent, and honestly I don’t give a fuck. It might be the first time I’ll ever openly root for Oregon in conference play, cuz they’re going to beat the piss out of tOSU, whereas the Beavers would fuck up the Pac-10’s string of dominance.
November 23rd, 2009 at 4:57 PM
See you in the tournament! That is, the Pac-10 tournament. Then you can watch us from home in the NCAAs.
November 23rd, 2009 at 5:00 PM
I may have to print and frame this comment. But have no fear, OSU would beat the piss out of tOSU too.
November 23rd, 2009 at 5:42 PM
i thought sparty outed miz as bbob a while back.
November 23rd, 2009 at 6:23 PM
I ain’t Miz.
November 23rd, 2009 at 6:23 PM
I do think PSU would beat Iowa right now, but not by 21. Let’s say 7. You’re right — Clark would choke in 2 or 3 key spots.
November 23rd, 2009 at 6:24 PM
Would love, love, love to see the Beavers win on the 3rd and face the other OSU. Mike Riley is so underpaid.
November 23rd, 2009 at 6:25 PM
If Nebraska had a more legit offense, I’d take that game closer. Suh and Crick will sack McCoy a combined five times. Texas still wins, 27-13.
