It’s not that kind of fanbase. If it’s in the blood, it’s there for generation upon generation upon generation…

yep…and further to that, ND is always going to have a large fanbase in NYC, Boston, Philly, & Chicago…four of the key TV markets in the country.

Correct, that was for the last year of the expiring deal. New deal through 2015 is for more money.

I know you enjoy good football, as you should. But NBC likes money, and ND brings them a lot of it.

I thought the ratings were not strong this year? Also, the deal netted ND 9 million last year I believe. That is chump change compared to what Florida will get this year from the SEC mega deal.

Got to love the self fulfilling prophecy. If I continue to write about them becoming a big story, they will indeed be a big story. Alos, they don’t have their own fucking network. NBC simply shows their games. NBC talks ND football 3.5 hours a week. That’s not a network, that’s a long made for tv movie of the week.

If Fox only showed Patriots games and no one else in the NFL, you’d probably say Fox was their channel, right? Right.

Isn’t a lot of that generational though? I would assume that Notre Dame’s fanbase scews pretty old as it is, and with kids growing up getting to see any other program they want won’t Notre Dame

I kind of thought the same thing, until I saw where Tir Na Nog in Philly sold out 8 buses to take to the Pittsburgh game…and the demo on the bus was primarily 20somethings who attended Catholic school.

ND’s base fanbase (that sounds redundant) aka Subway Alumni, is still pretty damn strong, no matter how much the interwebs denies this.
