a buddy of mine managed to get press passes and become a league photographer for the local games. apparenly all you need is a good camera and a decent lens and they’ll give you a press pass for sideline seats.
December 15th, 2009 at 8:14 AM
starting any day with Salma Hayek is a good thing.
I say this to my daughter every day when she does her homework, and I’ll pass on the advice to TBL. Slow down!
December 15th, 2009 at 8:14 AM
So, contrary to the UNC spin, the fan Roy ejected was not drunk and had a ticket for the section he was in.
Fuck UNC, and fuck Roy.
December 15th, 2009 at 8:23 AM
Good link, Tallguy.
Can’t wait to see what the Dukies come up with to chant at that pompous prick when UNC plays at Cameron.

a doctor who treated tiger woods is being probed for PEDS. Apparently he may have given it to the athletes he treated. Its on espn.com. It just gets better for mr woods.

Throw it down young fella. nasty
December 15th, 2009 at 8:29 AM
I’d be shocked if Tiger was on HGH. A rail-thin guy becoming a centaur in his mid-20’s? All natural, bro. Just him, God and some Pantera in the weight room.
December 15th, 2009 at 8:33 AM
cowboys from hell
December 15th, 2009 at 8:44 AM
Great story of survival. Another story to make you question humanity.
December 15th, 2009 at 8:47 AM
They will accept him as one of their own.
Got to love Phil Knight. He must be the only corporate sponsor that isn’t backing away from Tiger.

Duke is going to be brutal for them this year.

i didnt watch ATH or PTI. was the Roy Williams story highlighted?
Did Sportscenter mention it yet?
I dont care how many blogs mention the story … it really isn’t a story until ESPN dives in.
/sad but true

question from a coffee newbie: so the pot brews.
i pour a glass and then usually turn OFF the coffee maker.
2 hrs later, when i have my 2nd cup, i have to warm it up in the microwave.
should i just leave the coffee maker on so the pot remains warm? the smokey the bear in me thinks this could be a fire hazard
December 15th, 2009 at 8:58 AM

Nothing surprises me about this anymore. Next we’ll find out he has a $1000 a day blow habit.
December 15th, 2009 at 8:59 AM
Indeed Celtic, after reading that I just stared at the wall for about 5 minutes thinking about why things like this ever happen.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:00 AM
You can leave it on tbl…just to be safe make sure your coffee maker isn’t around anything flammable
December 15th, 2009 at 9:00 AM
Leave the pot on. The taste is better. Anything left on longer than an hour or two will burn it.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:02 AM
you’re fine leaving it on.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:02 AM
I usually leave the pot on, but it’s not quite 2 hours in between cups for me.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:02 AM
Oh and another thing TBL, don’t ever put your coffee in the fridge or freezer. This will dry out the grounds and actually affect the flavor. Most containers have a “fresh lock” or come in a bag that keeps the coffee fresh.
/biggest pet peeve is people who freeze their coffee.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:03 AM
Leave it on, but take it off after 1.5-2 hrs. Also, make sure not to grind up the coffee to a fine powder. Coffee is best when it is left slighlty coarse.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:03 AM
my coffee maker turns off after a certain amount of time

A coffee newbie?!? What, are you 16? You don’t watch college football and you don’t drink coffee. I bet you have a red coat in your closet.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:05 AM
Agreed. Leave it on, or to calm your nerves, buy a coffee pot with an insulated carafe. They are the best. You won’t get any of the burnt taste from the pot cooking on a hot plate all day.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:05 AM
TBL, your mistake is you have the wrong coffee pot. As a long time coffee drinker I now have a heavily insulated pot with a sealed lid, NO BURNER. It stays warm for about 3 hours, but doesn’t get burnt or nasty.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:05 AM
No worries, TBL, I didn’t have my first cup of coffee until I was 23.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:06 AM
Did anyone else see that Tyron Nix turned down Florida to stay on as Ole Miss’s DC? Apparently the Gators also contacted Bud Foster. I would think if Urban Meyer came calling it would be hard to say no.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:07 AM
high roller.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:08 AM
That would explain the need for sleeping pills.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:08 AM
i think i’ll have to go with the insulated pot, guys. thanks for the recommendation.
MM – been to starbucks a ton, but never brewed coffee at home. just started doing that a couple months ago.
my usual morning routine was simply OJ. im a morning guy, dont really need the jumpstart … the coffee mostly helps me avoid stuffing my face in the Am with baggels, english muffins, and cereal (i usually have all 3 by 12).
December 15th, 2009 at 9:08 AM
@Coop – Kudos son, kudos.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:09 AM
Ooo, this one looks choice.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:09 AM
If Isaiah Thomas did it, it would be their top story. They don’t care unless it’s one of their “whipping boys”
December 15th, 2009 at 9:09 AM
you underestimate the allure of ol’ meltyface beamer.

/my obligatory “anti-ESPN” comment to make everyone happy
December 15th, 2009 at 9:10 AM
People that need coffee to function in the morning are weak, and I judge them for it.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:10 AM
it didn’t happen
/ahmadinejad’d
December 15th, 2009 at 9:11 AM
While you are out buying your new coffee pot, buy a french press and a bean grinder. Don’t go cheap on the grinder, get a burr grinder that you can adjust the settings. French press coffee is the way to go.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:11 AM
So dirty!

Luckily for you I’ve had my coffee, otherwise I’d kick your ass.
I dont smoke any more, without coffee whats the point of waking up?

$99 for a coffee maker? damn money bags.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:14 AM

You would be in the minority
December 15th, 2009 at 9:17 AM
Store the beans in the freezer. Grind just as much as you need to brew each time. Learned this from an expert. Starbucks Italian Roast, brew it strong and use real half-and-half, not some fat-free garbage or nancy-boy flavored variety. Drink it black before using powdered creamer. Forget the fancy brewpot. Get a campfire pot and perk it on the stove.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:18 AM
that industry is exploding. the non-Christian Right fed is letting that thing get legs. there was a story yesterday about insurance underwritting for crops.
i feel like there a ground floor opportunity here…with some risks.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:18 AM
Only $99? Mine was $149. Oddly enough, it still tastes like coffee.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:18 AM
Maybe you could just live blog it the next time you brew it, TBL. Seems like it might be a hit. Who knew?
December 15th, 2009 at 9:19 AM
Goodness, looks like my muffins are ready!
/tallguy
December 15th, 2009 at 9:20 AM
my wife makes the coffee. i have it like that
December 15th, 2009 at 9:20 AM
The key is to only pay it once, then return it to best buy before the warranty is up and get a new one. You only pay $10 for a new service plan. Rinse and repeat.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:20 AM
I know, it lets me feel superior to 90% of the population, peon.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:20 AM
i’ll meet you there.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:21 AM
Worked at a Starbucks/Barnes N Noble for awhile in what passes for ritzy in STL. Everybody is an expert on coffee, and my coffee was usually shit (as I was told), and yet they came back everyday. People take coffee more seriously than politics, and generally seem to be better informed.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:22 AM
One of my favorite “didn’t happen” is still that SNL skit with Heather Locklear and Mike Myers in the informercial where Locklear’s character insults every race possible and throws a “holocaust was a lie” line in there as well.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:24 AM
Cannot believe no one threw this out there yet:
“Cream?”
“No thank you, I take it black, like my men”

December 15th, 2009 at 9:26 AM

That skit is money.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:28 AM
Bud Foster turned down UF. VA Tech offered him a nice amount of cash if he stays on board for 5yrs.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:28 AM
you jump to conclusions so fast. it’s remarkable.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:28 AM
Yikes, that suntimes story says it’s 21 in Chicago today. Brrrr.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:28 AM
Kurt Warner has a faux hawk now. Unreal.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:29 AM
When is beamer going to leave? I could see him there for 10 more years if he stays healthy.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:30 AM
It’s the job Foster wants apparently. There’s no accounting for taste.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:30 AM
french press is the only way to go. 1 cup at a time baby. Lets you decide how strong/weak you like it. Plus, it looks bad ass.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:32 AM
well i would rather do that than be blind to everything like you. tiger could get caught on film injecting hgh in his ass you would still find an excuses or deny it was him.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:32 AM
Yep, jumped the gun on that one. My mistake. Enjoy your home brew. Starbucks is grabage, GRABAGE I SAY!
December 15th, 2009 at 9:34 AM
there’s a difference between finding excuses and not giving a shit about someone using HGH.
i think every person in america should be given HGH.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:34 AM
Did you read the article, or just the headline?
December 15th, 2009 at 9:35 AM
HGH is amazing.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:36 AM
i think every person in america should be given HGH
Mark Cuban?
December 15th, 2009 at 9:37 AM
both.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:37 AM
TBL – just head to the nearest Cuban restaurant on Monday morning and order a café con leche…your appetite will be supressed and your caffeine fix will be met for the week.
/tip o’ the hat to sparty for recommending the café con leche
December 15th, 2009 at 9:40 AM
i wonder if sparty started drinking that down here
December 15th, 2009 at 9:42 AM
mrejr – Why are you up so early? You’re usually rare to the AM Roundup, right?
December 15th, 2009 at 9:43 AM
merjer…see, your problem is that you’re an idiot though. tiger was recovering from an injury, and treatments using Actovigin and HGH are legal, post-surgery as far as the PGA’s drug testing is concerned.
so even if he was using HGH, what then?
December 15th, 2009 at 9:44 AM
got up to go take a test test got rescheduled. so here i am.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:44 AM
irish – I think so. I was actually in the Ft. Lauderdale area a few weeks ago and told him I was going to my first Cuban restaurant. he recommended the café con leche…I got it as an after dinner drink and couldn’t fall asleep for hours. it was tasty though.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:50 AM
I gotta figure out a medical condition. That block alone has like 7 dispensaries and is within biking distance of my house.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:50 AM
Miz: I landed a press pass for the Chick Fil A bowl. I think I am going to catch the first half before heading to a party. Are you going?
December 15th, 2009 at 9:51 AM
Trinity.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:51 AM
The Auschwitz survival story is unreal. I can’t even imagine laying there while someone is holding my kidney and its still pulsating and I have no pain killers. I hope all the Germans involved in things like that are burning in hell as we speak and have had their kidneys taken out every day for the last 65+ years and are suffering like mofo’s for everything they put people through.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:51 AM
@miz- i started drinking them when i lived in Miami. you are right, cant drink those at night because you’ll be up
December 15th, 2009 at 9:54 AM
unfortunately not. I wanted to but I don’t think it’s gonna work out.
December 15th, 2009 at 9:56 AM
My back and ankle are fucked up. I could swing that into a scrpit…which would be amazing.
December 15th, 2009 at 11:10 AM
Love staring my day with some Selma Hayek, thank you.
Get a french press, problem solved.
