Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight on Hold Due to Floyd’s Drug Testing Demands, Manny’s Fear of Needles
Boxing December 23rd. 2009, 11:00am
Floyd Mayweather wants Manny Pacquiao to submit to Olympic-like drug testing, meaning 48 hours before their much-anticipated March 13, 2010 fight. Pacquiao’s camp is against that, and believes that blood testing one month before the fight is sufficient. The sides are at an impasse.
Pacquiao’s people are fools. Why not just submit to the blood test? Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, called the demand “absolutely crazy,” and claimed it is being requested to “harass Pacquiao, who is squeamish about needles.” Pacquiao is willing to have his blood tested right after the fight, but not before it. What’s the difference? Any doctor in the house want to clear this up? Scenario we can totally see happening – Pacquiao caves and submits to the blood test right before the fight, and then pounds Mayweather in the ring faster than anyone anticipates.
The money line was buried at the bottom of this article: “The World Anti-Doping Agency successfully used blood testing at the 2004 Olympics in Athens to test for HGH.” Wonder why the NFL and MLB haven’t pushed for that? [Yahoo Sports]
