Derrick Rose Is On Another Level Right Now
NBA February 6th. 2010, 11:00amDerrick Rose’s ankle is obviously healed. Seems like every single night he’s got a highlight dunk now. Last night against the Hawks, he had two. Unfortunately, highlights don’t make wins. All-Star snub Josh Smith went for 18, 14 and 10 as the Hawks won 91-81.
Out West Kobe Bryant played with his ankle taped like Barbaro. Not sure what good playing with all these injuries is for Kobe or the Lakers. Bill Simmons had a great point in his podcast with J.A. Adande – Kobe sees missing time as missing X number of points. Despite Kobe’s 33 points on 50% shooting last night, the Lakers lost to a Nuggets squad sans Carmelo Anthony. Chauncey Billups had a career-high 39 points with 9 threes.

Ugh. I don’t even like Kobe, but the constant hate makes me root for him. And Bill Simmons doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about. Like ever.
/And yet I still listen to his podcasts.

We get it. You don’t like Kobe, thanks.
Pau had 17 shot attempts, Bynum had 7, Shannon frickin Brown shot the ball 13 times, and you’re complaining about Kobe’s assists totals? Everyone on the team got touches, the Lakers just couldn’t grind it out.

Fire Dumars…
I guess that is a career regular season high for Chauncey. I think he dropped 40 on the Magic in game 7 his first year with Detroit.

There’s nothing wrong with trying to establish your place in history. So Kobe doesn’t rest so he can build on his legacy. BFD. It’s not like the Lakers don’t need him. Another thing I read was that Kobe is refusing to miss games to prove a point to the front office. That just because he’s 31 doesn’t mean he isn’t durable, thus meaning he’s worth a big extension. The guy hasn’t missed a game in three seasons-including playoffs and Olympics-cut him some fuckin slack.

Simmons’ entire argument for Kobe is revolved around the fact that Kobe doesn’t make “everyone in a room freeze like MJ” when he walks in the door. So he’s kind of a moron with a lot of the shit he says.

February 6th, 2010 at 12:03 PM
Was that the infamous “I’m looking forward to the second round” series?

hoyas, predictably, looking strong. Wright and Freeman winning backcourt battle. but Reynolds is a 2nd half stud, anyway

I think Doris Burke is one of the best color commentators in basketball.
February 6th, 2010 at 1:06 PM
I see no problem with her either…at least she will talk about the game and what’s happening unlike the Vitales of the world who do little more than endorse themselves throughout an entire broadcast
February 6th, 2010 at 5:11 PM
Doris doesn’t commit either of the 2 mortal sins of color work. She doesn’t think that the people are there to see her, and she doesn’t get stuck on one point and bang it home for the rest of the telecast. That makes her a rare gem.
