This “parity” that Bud Selig speaks of is imaginary. USA Today looked at the teams that spent the most over the last decade, and found out that the top five teams made 27 postseason appearances. The bottom five spenders? Just two postseason trips. So if your team went into this season with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball … no shot at October baseball. Here’s the kicker: according to Forbes, the Florida Marlins led the league in profit last year – $46.5 million. They were 2nd to last in attendance and missed the postseason.
