Nebraska Could Be in the Big Ten By Friday, Which Could Mean the Big 12 is Kaput by Month's End

If true, Nebraska’s decision will likely start a domino effect that would dramatically alter the landscape of major college sports. Winners? The Big Ten and Pac 10, which would expand and profit handsomely. Losers? Almost certainly Kansas and the three other Big 12 schools that aren’t likely to receive an invite anywhere. Also likely to wind up on the loser list: the Big East. And maybe … Notre Dame?

After Nebraska bolts, the next school to face a major decision would be Notre Dame. Let’s say the Irish pass on the Big Ten. Then Missouri gets the invite. If Notre Dame accepts, Texas and the other five teams in the Big 12 (Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Colorado) would bolt for the Pac-10. So what becomes of Missouri? Are the Tigers more attractive than Colorado? Or could the Big Ten decide it wants Missouri in addition to Notre Dame, plus a team (Rutgers?) or three from the Big East (Rutgers, Pittsburgh and Syracuse)?
