Stephen Strasburg Astounds, Strikes Out 14 in Winning Debut

Despite an exorbitant amount of hype, Stephen Strasburg was somehow as good as advertised in his Nationals debut, allowing two runs over seven innings and fanning 14. Save for one forgettable frame, he was a joy to watch, owning the final seven batters he faced on seven consecutive strikeouts. His face met pie three different times and he exited the field wearing some kind of rare, non-losing related team rally wig. But without a doubt, the biggest news was Strasburg honoring Joe West’s plea for quicker baseball. Thanks to his quick pace, the game only took 2 hours, 19 minutes! In 2010, no matter the baseball story, it inevitably comes back to Joe West. Strasburg’s 14 Ks can be seen after the jump.
