Pac-10 Adds Colorado, The Super Conference Era Begins
1-liner, College Football June 10th. 2010, 2:45pmFirst Super Conference: The Pac-10 looks poised to become the first of the 16-team Über conferences. Colorado will officially join the league, leaving the Big 12. They are the first of a raid expected to include Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. So, essentially, it’s a merger between the Pac-10 and the valuable part of the Big-12. The schools would then renegotiate the television deal and presumably make an insane amount of money. They will also push for a second automatic bid for the BCS. Expect the Big Ten and SEC to start scrambling for teams. More pressure on Notre Dame? Bidding war for Kansas basketball? Predicting four 16-team conferences: Pac-10, Big Ten, SEC and an East Coast amalgam that will own college basketball. Tradition is valuable, when that value is monetary. [Sporting News]
