First To Sign? Amar’e Stoudemire Almost A Knick
LeBronageddon, NBA July 2nd. 2010, 5:30pm
Amar’e Stoudemire is on the verge of signing a 5-year max deal with the New York Knicks. The deal would be worth upwards of $100 million, but the more important part is that an actual star player has signed with the New York Knicks! The Knicks actually landed one of the marquee free agents. And there’s still room to sign another!
Over the last few days it seems that all the reports about the top free agents have said that everyone is waiting to see what other players do. Obviously, after his playoff performance versus Orlando, nobody gave a shit about Joe Johnson, so it was up to a real prize free agent to sign somewhere to put the dominoes in motion. Now that Stat has landed in the Big Apple, who goes where next?
Maybe most importantly for Knick fans, does this make New York a more appealing possible destination for LeBron James? Dwyane Wade is “intrigued.” Could Amar’e Stoudemire really be the one to set the New York Knicks/super team in motion?
We’ll find out more this holiday weekend. I’ll be around with Duffy getting some soccer assists. Be safe out there people. Not everybody earned low 10 figures today – just STAT and Elin.
