We'll Ask Again: What the Hell is David Kahn Doing?

Dealing Jefferson (slated to make $13, $14, $15 million in the next three years) freed up some cap room and for a fleeting moment, gave Minnesota some hope. And then, Kahn did the unthinkable – he landed another point guard. Minnesota inked Luke Ridnour to a 4-year, $16 million deal despite having drafted two point guards in the lottery last year (Flynn, Rubio) and signing Ramon Sessions to a 4-year deal last September. What is Kahn thinking? Don’t pretend like you know. Nobody does. Not even the clueless Kahn himself. Even if he moves Flynn (Cleveland was rumored to be in the mix recently), you’ve still got two point guards on the roster while selling Rubio on coming to the States.

Here’s how pathetic Minnesota looks right now: [EDIT: Two of those end-of-the-bench draft picks aren’t even with Minnesota. They were dealt during the great draft swap of 2010. It’s unclear who will make the end of the roster, but feel free to choose from this list of candidates.]

C – Darko/Ryan Hollins
PF – Kevin Love/Trevor Booker
SF – Wesley Johnson/Michael Beasley/Luke Babbitt
SG – Corey Brewer/Martell Webster/Wayne Ellington
PG – Flynn/Sessions

After winning 15 games last year, the T-Wolves should be in line for about 20 wins this year. If you’re already looking to the 2011 draft (as a Minnesota fan, you should be) here’s the bad news – while it’s very, very early, the draft looks to have two elite PGs (assuming they come out), a lot of PFs, and maybe one center (Kentucky’s Enes Kanter). The way Minnesota’s luck has worked out, you know there’s no way they land Kanter. [photo: Getty]
