Who Doesn’t Love a Good Florida State Arrest?
College Football, Video July 26th. 2010, 5:15pmRemember the last time Florida State mattered? You have to go all the way back to the turn of the century when the electrifying Peter Warrick – he had a little Reggie Bush in him – led the Seminoles to a 12-0 undefeated season with a win over Mike Vick and Virginia Tech in the national title game. FSU went to the title game the following year (13-2 loss to Oklahoma) but has had just one 10-win season in the last nine years. Now, the only Seminole highlights are epic arrests, like that of linebacker Nigel Carr over the weekend.
Carr has been charged with five felonies: two counts of burglary of a structure, one count of property damage, one count of theft of a credit card and one count of fraud.
Carr, a junior, was expected to start (or at least contend for a starting job) this season. But because FSU has been a strong brand for the last 2+decades (thanks to Bobby Bowden), the media still has high expectations for Free Shoes University this season. Florida State is picked by the media to play Virginia Tech in the ACC title game this season. Hey, we love Christian Ponder, too … but we’ll be picking Clemson and Kyle Parker in the ACC Atlantic. And despite out love for Virginia Tech, we’ll take a gander on North Carolina in the other half of the division. It’s no fun to always pick the favorites, right? [Sentinel]
