Oregon’s Jeremiah Masoli Transfers to Ole Miss
1-liner, College Football July 29th. 2010, 11:30amJeremiah Masoli: Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt appears to have landed former Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli. According to ESPN’s Joe Schad, Masoli is expected to be admitted to one of the school’s graduate programs, and he’ll walk on to the football team. With the Rebels having lost QB Jevan Snead to the NFL, Masoli would be a welcome addition to a school that isn’t expected to contend in the SEC West. Of course, Masoli is a high-risk transfer: “Masoli pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary after he stole laptops from a fraternity house at Oregon in March. Chip Kelly, the Oregon coach, suspended him for the season. In June, Masoli was cited on a misdemeanor marijuana charge, and he was kicked off the team.” Not all Ole Miss fans are thrilled about his potential arrival. [Ledger]

Now Spurrier can vote him first team All-SEC.

Ole Miss should select a bullfrog as their new mascot now.

Do you have to be a good student to be admitted to a graduate program?
July 29th, 2010 at 11:35 AM
This kid is going to grad school? I believe for people like him and George Jung, that is referred to as prison.

Masoli? What the hell is that, Taiwaneez? Whatever it is, that boy’s got the guts of a bergler!
July 29th, 2010 at 11:37 AM
Too bad, Raymond Cotton playing QB for Ole Miss would have been just about the most stereotypical thing ever.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:39 AM
Not at Ole Miss.

Seriously, Raymond Cotton? That sounds like a Hollywood villain to be played by James Carville.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:45 AM
I thought he was good in The Assasination of Jesse James (saw it last week). Movie was good, a little too long for my taste though.

Shady legal issues? Check.

was masoli even that good at oregon?
the state of oregon makes good beer
July 29th, 2010 at 11:46 AM
depends on how good at football you are.
just another case of houston nutt being the most hypocritical coach out there, and that is saying a lot.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:47 AM
This still won’t be Houston Balls’ biggest QB quagmire ever, though:
July 29th, 2010 at 11:47 AM
Doesn’t Masoli have to sit out a year?
July 29th, 2010 at 11:47 AM
Good movie, but too long. At least I that’s the movie I’m thinking of. Brad Pitt, right?
July 29th, 2010 at 11:47 AM
well I am in one so apparently not
July 29th, 2010 at 11:48 AM
Nope.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:48 AM
Yes, unless he qualifies for one of the exceptions which I have no idea if he does or not.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:48 AM
This makes no sense to me. Masoli means they’ll win one, maybe two more games. The upside is not worth the PR hit they will (rightfully) get.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:49 AM
No, since he graduated, and Ole Miss offers graduate programs that Oregon does not.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:49 AM
He was let go of his scholarship and is going to enroll in a graduate program at Ole Miss that Oregon canot offer. He plays now.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:49 AM
Oh shit, he already got his undergraduate degree so he won’t have to.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:49 AM
If he gets intercepted does the announcer dare say “[Cornerback's name] picks off Cotton”?
July 29th, 2010 at 11:50 AM
This is a school that has a Rebel Ball every year. There are confederate flags everywhere. This is a pebble in the landscape of boulder PR hits this school gets.
Plus, it’s an SEC school struggling for football relevance. Maybe Masoli helps them upset an LSU or something like that. The risk is worth the potential reward, IMO.

CHICKEN LEGS!!!!
July 29th, 2010 at 11:51 AM
If that corner’s last name is Black we’re all in trouble. Especially if Bob Griese’s doing the game.

I just got hungry for some tacos.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:52 AM
They’re scrambling. Their would-be QB up and quit on them. They’re fucked otherwise. I’d say Masoli’s probably worth an extra W, maybe two. That’s huge.

I gotta believe TBL does a facepalm every time one of those chicken legs posts go up.

Chicken legs baby.
So bsanders, I know I like to give you shit but I always like the CapRooney pieces. When (if) are they starting again? Are you beholden to the August cutoff?

I’m in the minority, but that was my favorite movie of that year. Loved the pacing, that movie needed to breath and the cinematography, wow. That was a movie that was made to be seen in a theater.

Not doing ‘em this season. FSV’s using someone else. I’ll still be around in all the NFL posts in the comments, though.

The cinematography, alone, was a good enough reason to see this one. Just a great looking movie, and I echo your sentiments. One of the best films I’ve seen in awhile.

cinematography was fantastic, but I think 15-20 minutes at least could have been chopped off and it would have been jsut as brilliant. I usually never complain about length of movies either if the movie is good, but I felt that way about this one.

That’s a bunch of bullshit right there. I guess I hope they get done by some hot Asian chick who obviously knows nothing about the sport. That seemed to work for the British Open Preview.

it wasn’t really that bad, and certainly better than our J-M$c could have done on his own. I’m just trying to make Cap Rooney feel better about getting the shit can.

I’m very interested in seeing what TBL does for CFB. I thought his preview stuff was very random last year. At the risk of getting banned, I should mention that S&F is going to do some great things this CFB season.

STUPID PREVIOUS POST: “Plus, it’s an SEC school struggling for football relevance. Maybe Masoli helps them upset an LSU or something like that. The risk is worth the potential reward, IMO.”
so i guess that means the big 12 is searching for football relevance after losing two straight cotton bowls to Ole Miss (bad example) what about the 2008 National Champion Florida Gators, ask Tebow about Ole Miss’ football relevance. As for LSU, Ole Miss has beaten them the last two years and finished ahead of them in the standings…perhaps Miles and LSU should search for some relevance
