You Can’t Just Not Show Viewers News and Pretend Like It Didn’t Happen
1-liner, Baseball, Media Gossip/Musings July 29th. 2010, 6:00pmThe Fight: Why didn’t FSN Northwest, the channel that airs Seattle Mariner games, show footage of the dugout fight between Chone Figgins and Don Wakamatsu until after the game was over? “NESN network showed video footage of the dugout confrontation in the bottom of the fifth inning, with the Japanese NHK network following moments later, FSN Northwest did not broadcast any of its own footage to go along with the Sims commentary. In fact, FSN Northwest did not air any of its own footage until after the game was over.” What’s odd is that Seattle announcer Dave Sims told fans what happened, and if they went on their computer, video was already posted on twitter and facebook (and probably blogs, too). The channel claims it as a “communication faux pas.” Sure it was. [Seattle Times]
