Chris Paul was hopeful to be traded, but it seems highly unlikely anything will happen this season. Carmelo Anthony appears hopeful to be traded, but the good news is that something will happen over the next 11 months. The NY Media is already frothing about the prospect of a trade.

“Nothing would bother him,” the confidant said of Anthony playing here. “The media wouldn’t bother him because he really likes people. The pressure wouldn’t bother him because he loves to have the game in his hands. Nothing bothers him.”

That’s from the NY Post, and it’s played up as a thinly-veiled shot at LeBron, which of course is comical. Even though we’re fans of Anthony’s work, he’s made it out of the first round once in seven trips to the postseason. If ‘Melo were to get into another “Stop Snitchin‘” snafu or get popped for DUI right before the postseason (Denver got swept, 4-0 by the Lakers), the NY media would relentlessly hammer Anthony.

Even more significantly … we still haven’t heard a legit trade that could land the Knicks’ Melo. A third team would almost certainly have to be involved.

The good news is that Denver appears to be taking this well, even though the city is on the cusp of losing its third major star (Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall) in a short period of time. Anthony’s holding all the cards, Dave Krieger writes. “[Anthony] can determine his value on the trade market by deciding whether to participate in a sign-and-trade. And if the Nuggets don’t agree to send him where he wants, they won’t get value for him because he will have only one year remaining on his contract.”

Well, at least Denver has Tim Tebow.
