Buffalo Bills’ Canadian Affair Not Working Out
NFL August 20th. 2010, 5:30pm
The Bills and the Colts played a preseason game in Toronto last night. Sure, its just a preseason game, but the attendance wasn’t great. (“Attendance was announced at 39,583, some 13,000 shy of capacity — the building was half-full at kickoff and three-quarters full at the end of the first quarter.”) This was the half-way point of the Toronto series and the poor attendance is making people question the point of the Northern expansion.
The Toronto Star, National Post, WERLV and ESPN/AP have all pointed out how disastrous this looks. Is this just pointless complaining? I doubt there’s any way that the Canada can get out of this deal that would keep the awful American football south of the border.
Perhaps the city of Toronto can trade the Bills for another team in the NFL? Perhaps the Jets or Giants? Its the same state. The Browns wouldn’t be that much of an upgrade. Is there anyway to save the NFL in Canada? Will the polite people to the North ever love our most beloved game? These are things the Bills’ brass and Commissioner Goodell have to consider as they continue to force this unwanted failure on Canada.
