Nationals-Marlins Brawl Features Midget vs. 6-foot-8 Pitcher, Wicked Clothesline, Chaos
Baseball, Video September 1st. 2010, 9:45pmIf the Nationals and Marlins brawl, and nobody’s in the stands to witness it, did it actually happen? The seeds for this rumble were planted last night, and the fireworks happened moments ago. Nyjer Morgan of the Nationals charged 6-foot-8 Chris Volstad of the Nationals, and after throwing a punch, Morgan got clotheslined by Florida’s Gaby Sanchez. From there, bedlam. Another video after the jump. More tomorrow, obviously.

TBL’s newest feature. TBL After Dark Late, Late Night Post.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:50 PM
they should just have designated fighters like hockey, and then let em circle up and have at it
September 1st, 2010 at 9:51 PM
That clothesline was awesome.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:51 PM
CHJ – I’m not retyping my response so I’m going to go make you read it in the last post haha.
what the hell is this guy playing Roddick doing?
September 1st, 2010 at 9:54 PM
Nyjer Morgan is such a punk. Throw a ball at a fan, knock over the catcher for no reason, now this.
I said this in the last post, but for somebody who sucks this much, he’s got some ball on him. Hope he gets released. Clearly retarded.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:54 PM
The cup of coffee Morgan had with the Regina Pats seems to have paid off.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:55 PM
This, I was happy seeing it, Morgan’s a douche.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:56 PM
Fetch, I just caught it — no worries. I can take a poke to the ribs. The Bears deserve loads of mockery and hatred until ownership changes. And Cutler’s pretty impossible to root for on the football field at this point in his life.
I’d love to have you on a podcast this year, by the way. Would you be interested?
September 1st, 2010 at 9:57 PM
1. Only if we get to interview you and
2. Only if you employ some sort of voice modification technology cause I hate my voice
September 1st, 2010 at 9:59 PM
If that gold necklace was the secret to Crain’s success, I’m going after that Tigers player.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:59 PM
Nyjer Morgan is such a punk. Throw a ball at a fan, knock over the catcher for no reason, now this.
Dude maybe a punk but that catcher needs to get the fuck off the plate or expect shit like that to happen. Throwing 2x is also bush. I swear playing in all the Florida heat fucks the minds of the FLA players. I swear they get into drama like this at the end of every summer.
If the guy has wheels, throw one into his knees and that’s it. Douchery all around here.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:00 PM
Mrejr-style, squeaky voice, or just all-around annoying?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:01 PM
1. Only if we get to interview you and
2. Only if you employ some sort of voice modification technology cause I hate my voice
The former is a deal. The latter … well, don’t we all hate our own pipes?
Best e-mail to reach you at?

Clothesline From Hell BY GAWD
September 1st, 2010 at 10:07 PM
I now imagine mrejr sounding like the pimple-faced kid from the Simpsons. “Here’s your taco sir.”
September 1st, 2010 at 10:07 PM
neither of those two. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s not that bad it’s just weird hearing yourself talk.

Speaking of voices, Laverneous Coles sounds like Chris Tucker.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:19 PM
fetch, doing work
/just watch, and learn
September 1st, 2010 at 10:20 PM
Aaron Boone is a idiot. Saying running over the catcher is a dirty play, and that stealing bases when your down 9 is bush league. Excuse me???? I guess he should just give up then? No wonder he works for ESPN.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:20 PM
Speaking of voices, Laverneous Coles sounds like Chris Tucker.
yeah.
hey, you know who horace grant looks like?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:22 PM
Harvey?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:23 PM
Running over the catcher is not bush league but as Harold Reynolds pointed out, he is safe if he slides and instead went after the catcher plus teams are watching him after what he did against the Cardinals.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:25 PM
And that, in a nutshell, is why MLB Network and Harold Reynolds is so, so much better than ESPN/Baseball Tonight.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:25 PM
hey, you know who horace grant looks like?
Harvey?
what Jose, you think they all look alike?
/hee
September 1st, 2010 at 10:25 PM
Like someone on here said earlier, catcher should have been in a different spot then.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:27 PM
Identical twins? Yes. And Asians.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:30 PM
I’m pretty sure Rex Ryan could coach just about anything and be successful. That speech was excellent.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:31 PM
I am so ready for a goddamn snack now.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:32 PM
I caught the last 30 minutes of (500) days of summer today. Damn that Summer, what a bitch
September 1st, 2010 at 10:33 PM
Watch the whole thing next time. Such a good movie.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:35 PM
Like someone on here said earlier, catcher should have been in a different spot then.
The catcher on that play is always vulnerable but the runner made a decision to hit the catcher and be out instead of slide and be safe. The fact is he clipped the Cardinals catcher who wasn’t near the plate a couple of nights early. You don’t think teams watch this. Plus the pitch went behind him, it didn’t even hit him. If he gets drilled after that or its near his head then so ya I would be pissed but its behind him. The guy sucks balls and is being a douche cause his time is up in the league.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:36 PM
Oh, I’ve seen it before. I just forgot how much Summer killed him.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:36 PM
Hey Fetch, I saw the chart on Twinkie talk, has he even thrown a pitch other than the fastball yet?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:37 PM
And that’s why I love Joe, other than his hitting, of course.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:38 PM
I’m not sure. I’m actually just listening right now. I have psych on the TV and I’m writing a mini paper for class tomorrow.
I did catch that Mauer throw though, thanks to your comment. So thanks.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:39 PM
I saw the last 3 minutes, and all I know is that Minka Kelly will never win a Golden Globe, Emmy, or Academy Award. She is sexy though, and that plus Joseph Gordan-Levitt might be enough to get me to watch it.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:39 PM
Fucking StubHub charges a service fee now? Jesus Christ.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:42 PM
I love Zooey Deschanel so, so, so much.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:42 PM
I haven’t bought from StubHub til this year, so there’s always been the $5 service charge to me.
$4 tickets for tomorrow’s game though, I’d be going if you can – I am.
/going to be fucking hectic downtown tomorrow with the Vikings and Twins at the same time.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:44 PM
Looking at Monday afternoon’s game. Taking the 5-year-old to his first game.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:45 PM
If it weren’t for Jose Bautista, Max Scherzer would be my best FA pickup this season by far.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:45 PM
ny-jer ny-jer ny-jer not nig…….whew, that was close
September 1st, 2010 at 10:46 PM
Cool stuff.
I’d wait til the weekend, honestly. Been watching the prices dip really low for this series, and the opener vs. Texas is even under $15. Could wait and see decent tickets for under $10 being it’s the Royals.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:49 PM
The only benefit of the Orioles having been terrible for so long is that tickets are wicked cheap.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:52 PM
I was thinking about that, right now best for infield area is about $55. I’m thinking stating him off on the infield side is better than the outfield.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:54 PM
That’s for home plate terrace, too
September 1st, 2010 at 10:54 PM
Which section were you looking at? I picked up two tickets for tomorrow’s in section 102 for just $8.99, was pumped.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:56 PM
Roddick just saved himself from going down 2 sets to 1… got it to deuce.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:57 PM
Yay, now I feel like a complete idiot, just posted in the last one thinking there wouldn’t be another post for the nite after reading a Buckner comment and responding only to see when it posted and auto refreshed there was a new post
September 1st, 2010 at 10:58 PM
Wow. Nice shot.
Roddick is pissed at the chair. Just blowing off steam on him now.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:59 PM
Lucky that throw was terrible. Cuddyer is not quick.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:59 PM
Anywhere on the infield side. 3 tickets are a bit of a pain, I think is the main problem. There are seats in the 313 ares, but row 14.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:59 PM
Wow bad blood all over the NL Beast.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:00 PM

Fetch – No one likes their voice. Took me a year to just say “fuck it” on the news casts.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:01 PM
What now? Please tell me it invovled either Nyjer Morgan getting fucked up again, or Jose Reyes getting his ass kicked.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:01 PM

I go back and listen to the podcasts I’ve done with sparty and cgb, and just cringe. I find myself asking “is that what I really sound like?”.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:03 PM
I’m just late to the party on the Natinals fight, that’s all.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:03 PM
in tennis news, not shocked that Roddick is throwing a shit fit and might choke this match away
September 1st, 2010 at 11:05 PM
While I’m not at Fargo-esque levels or anything there’s always a couple cringe worthy moments listening to myself where I sound like a Sconnie…terrible
September 1st, 2010 at 11:05 PM
Bahahahahaha.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:05 PM
Yea man. I listen to the sports show whenever I have a long conversation, and I noticed I just let the accent out. On the podcast I dont care, but I remmeber for a few years trying to lose the damn thing. However, now I’m known down here as the NYer so just fuck it.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:06 PM
I thought that you had to be good in order to choke in sports? Roddick is not good, at least tonight he isn’t. He is the 2nd best guy on the court… by a longshot.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:06 PM
Damn that Joe Schad and his fast tweeting. This is what I wanted to link.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:06 PM
Wow. Purple drank might be illegal, but when presribed by a doctor and taken correctly, cough meds + codeine is joy in a bottle. I’ve been in bronchitis/congestion hell for 4 days and finally tonight, the ER doc made the call. Halleluiah.
/but jeez do I feel wasted.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:07 PM
besides fetch, your voice sounds okay. Haven’t heard a Spartycast though.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:08 PM
Always forget it’s on this time of year, still I absolutely love late-night US Open tennis.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:08 PM
Brooklyn Decker shot!
Roddick’s only weapon is his serve right now. He’s got nothing in the rallys. He’s spoiled away too many chances now on getting to a break. That foot fault is in Andy’s head.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:09 PM
I don’t really have an accent other than when I’m hammered, but I sound like I’m 12.

September 1st, 2010 at 11:17 PM
I’m listening to it now. Is that Skype?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:17 PM
Already looking forward to January?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:19 PM
I just thought about it. Fun story: not to sound like (name redacted) here but my Sophomore year of college we had a bunch of people over at our apartment that night and I ended up hooking up with this girl and I had to stop halfway through to turn on the match. Needless to say she was not pleased. Fortunately she had to be so drunk she was almost dead in order to hook up with me
September 1st, 2010 at 11:22 PM
Spartacast? Yeah. For some reason on the most recent one my audio didn’t come through as cleanly, and when the fan on my laptop kicked on it was very audible.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:32 PM
Off topic, but here’s a collection of Norm McDonald Weekend updates.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:37 PM
I had no idea there was a Spartycast…listening to the most recent one, not bad at all, needed more Iowa bashing though
September 1st, 2010 at 11:40 PM
John McEnroe is ready to go down there and beat Roddick, dude’s off.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:46 PM
Man it’s hard watching Mark Sanchez play QB.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:47 PM
Heartbroken that I wasn’t mentioned by e-name on this Spartycast as being an Iowa-OSU attendee…Lefty is dead to me, I’m assigning all my triple option love to Navy this season

Between the Josh Wilson trade and how shitty Sanchez has played, plus Pace being hurt and Revis holding out, I’m excited for MNF on the 13th.

Who isn’t excited for that? There’s only one other team I wanna see get the shit kicked out of them more than the Jets.

haha. What a douchebag
September 2nd, 2010 at 12:00 AM
Wow. 3-1. Roddick down in the 2nd round. Tipsarevic was outstanding, totally deserved it. His serve was money throughout and he worked Andy on the ground game.
