Ryan Howard Lost His Cup
Baseball, Video September 1st. 2010, 10:25amRyan Howard’s cup popped out of place last night in the 5th inning, a fact he tried to conceal on the way back to the dugout. His teammates noticed. The laughter and music give this video the feel of a guy who walked across the lunchroom to ask out the hottest chick in school … and got shot down. [Crossing Broad]

This is better than the NYT article from last week.

your Philadelphia Eagles preview, folks!
September 1st, 2010 at 10:34 AM
Can we just get an actual Athlete Dong tag already?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:35 AM
I like peen and even I think a slow mo peen/cup adjustment is just too much.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:37 AM
Ha, that’s great. Those five milestones can eat shit.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:38 AM
Go on…
September 1st, 2010 at 10:39 AM
Now this is a cup issue
September 1st, 2010 at 10:39 AM
While it certainly wasn’t the hottest chick in school, I can commiserate with this type of emotional let down. Getting shut down is an immediate frightened turtle syndrome moment.

I see your slap shot and raise you Sami Salo’s ruptured testicle.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:41 AM
Beano Cook coming up on The Herd in a little bit. My favorite radio segment.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:41 AM
Some of that shit is gold. Like this:

Beano Cook coming up on The Herd in a little bit. My favorite radio segment.
Yuck. you probably also like the Frank DeFord sports segment on public radio.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:43 AM
I see your slap shot and raise you Sami Salo’s ruptured testicle.
Also a good one, can’t believe he came back and played in that series. (Don’t think he actually ruptured it).
September 1st, 2010 at 10:44 AM
Beano Cook: Notre Dame Notre Dame Notre Dame
Herd: USC USC USC USC
Now you dont have to listen.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:45 AM
Soup or salad!
Beano is the best crotchety old man of all time
September 1st, 2010 at 10:46 AM
Not really. Beano’s hilarious to laugh at.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:46 AM
Frank DeFord is a national treasure sir. And he might be Dracula.

If I had an earring worth $50K I sure as hell would remember to remove it before practice.

Ricky Stanzi, everyone. America’s Greatest Patriot™.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:47 AM
Too bad he only struck out once last night, could have been deemed “2 K’s, 1 Cup”
September 1st, 2010 at 10:47 AM
oh, right … not doing football previews. they’re everywhere. we’ll do a predictions post at some point, though. those are fun. then, in jan. you can pat everyone on the back or mock them.
you know, like the MLB ‘previews’
http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2010/03/29/2010-mlb-preview-al-east/
looks like i’ll go 2/3 in both leagues (misses: Mariners, Padres)
September 1st, 2010 at 10:48 AM
But seriously, fuck all linguists.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:48 AM
I was just about to send this to TBL — unbelievable
September 1st, 2010 at 10:49 AM
oh, right … not doing football previews. they’re everywhere.
yeah, I agree. Football sucks. Talking about football is even worse, especially when you call talk about the FIBA world championship prelimary games, or how a hockey player is dating a marginally attractive past-her-prime reality chick.

Missed the Braves too, although Hernia wrote that one.

Is the Easter Bunny going to be the sequel to The Tooth Fairy?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:53 AM
Ha I’m sure irish has that AL East preview bookmarked for this section alone:
September 1st, 2010 at 10:53 AM
So you trust that the Yankees breaking the tie last night is a sign they’ll leave the Rays in the dust? You also didn’t even have the Rays in the playoffs.

my kind of reader
i picked Phillies, still think they win the division
September 1st, 2010 at 10:55 AM
I don’t suppose anyone else wants to get into how wanting laws against flag-burning is actually an un-American stance to have
September 1st, 2010 at 10:55 AM
Predicting baseball standings is easily the hardest of the four major sports. The NBA you can set in stone though as soon as the draft is over.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:56 AM
Rick Monday is on his way to your office with a lead pipe and a 12 gauge.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:56 AM
Not really, the NFL has a 50 percent playoff turnover rate. I’d say baseball is one of the easier sports to predict division winners in.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:57 AM
Tampa Bay Rays – Forsee a July firesale. (Fans of the Rays prefer “reload.”) The only question is who will the Rays take to the cleaners in July? When they’re 10 games back of New York and Boston, how many young studs can they get for Carl Crawford and overrated Carlos Pena?
That was golden, too.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:57 AM
I just don’t know what to say. He wants to get paid, and he wants to be known as more than an action star. He can make more bad movies than Brendan Fraser and he’ll still be the man in my book.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:58 AM
i think one of my comments got eaten.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:58 AM
yea, but he’s rick six meaning that he’ll probably just end up giving butters the shotgun and flailing awkwardly.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:58 AM
I’m excited for Faster. It’s supposedly hard R>
September 1st, 2010 at 10:59 AM
He will always be the Scorpion King!
September 1st, 2010 at 11:01 AM
I agree with that. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t correctly predict at least 8/12 playoff teams preseason.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:02 AM
typo…5/8.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:02 AM
thinking of going with the 3-man commenter committee for football season. it’s kind of an unofficial title (ie, “Assistant TO THE Regional Manager)
going to be some stuff happening at TBL (all good) and i simply won’t have time to jump in and spar and yank the sh!t that needs to be expunged.
probably best to not announce these 3 guys to avoid sucking up from commenters and ‘friend of TBL label’ (which for some reason Gas is still trying to shed. Friend of TBL … like that’s a bad thing!) if interested, email me. yes, i have 3 people in mind. yes, people who send links get priority
September 1st, 2010 at 11:03 AM
Me too.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:04 AM
Similar to Deadspin’s “comment ninjas”?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:06 AM
Hello there, sparty and Mike NYC! You both look wonderful today!
September 1st, 2010 at 11:06 AM
Well, it was nice knowing you all.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:07 AM
Can we get a little more explanation on this?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:09 AM
Do we get firm rules on what will and will not be allowed, or will it be “ninja” dependent?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:09 AM
The TBL commenters are dead, long live the TBL commenters.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:10 AM
I think I see Charlie Steiner with a tie wrapped around his head over there.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:11 AM
yes, people who send links get priority
what’s a link?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:11 AM
Sanchez had a subpar rookie year, just like Peyton Manning. Say otherwise? BANNED.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:12 AM
who are the 3 commenters that tout a college football playoff the most?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:12 AM
Might as well get my shots in while I can.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:13 AM
Hehe. Both threw a lot of picks, one threw for 26 TD’s and 3,700 yards for a shit team. Basically, Manning in his rookie year was Cutler last season.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:14 AM
Yeah – im hoping this doesnt mean that the 3 that are chosen can just choose to ban who they dont like.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:14 AM
mobile TBL by monday right?
September 1st, 2010 at 11:15 AM
peyton smells like flowers and sauteed garlic and olive oil and can cure diseases with a checkdown while rescuing puppies with an audible.

September 1st, 2010 at 11:16 AM
He’s not Italian.
/or is he?
//no, definitely not
September 1st, 2010 at 11:17 AM
It’s an awesome thing!
September 1st, 2010 at 11:18 AM
Exactly. I think things have gotten a little too ban-happy lately. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone is entitled to mock someone for their opinion.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:18 AM
yea, but you have to admit that sauteed garlic and olive oil is probably the best smell in the world.
if they made a cologne out of that, id wear it.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:20 AM
Wouldn’t that be redundant?
/wopwopwopwopwopwopwop
September 1st, 2010 at 11:20 AM
Agreed and agreed.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:20 AM
you’re redundant.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:22 AM

funny.
