Raiders Blast Adam Schefter Over “Untrue Statements” Regarding Pursuit of Matt Leinart
1-liner, ESPN, Media Gossip/Musings, NFL September 2nd. 2010, 2:00pmRaiders vs. Adam Schefter: The Raiders, who have feuded with media members before, sent out a hilarious press release yesterday. The headline: “Schefter Makes Untrue Statements Regarding Raiders.” It went on to say, “The Raiders have never discussed trading for Leinart. The Raiders are very happy about their quarterback situation.” And with Jason Campbell (injured wrist) starting, Bruce Gradkowski as the backup, and either Kyle Boller or Colt Brennan getting the 3rd QB spot, who needs a former Heisman Trophy-winning pretty boy who has looked terrible when he’s gotten on the field in Arizona over the last four years? It’s been a rough week for Schefter.

It’s going to be weird when the Raiders aren’t stupid any more.
September 2nd, 2010 at 12:18 PM
I wouldn’t want to be linked to having interest in Leinart, either. My money is that he’s a Bill by week 4 though.
If you had to take one for a death pool, who ya got? Al Davis or Keith Richards?
September 2nd, 2010 at 12:18 PM
Jason Campbell > Matt Leinart
Bruce Gradkowski > Matt Leinart
Kyle Boller > Matt Leinart
Clot Brennan > Matt Leinart
September 2nd, 2010 at 12:19 PM
Based on last night’s Hard Knocks, I would say its been a bit rougher for Tim Cowlishaw.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:03 PM
Does Schefter get suspended when we discover that he’s full of shit and just did this as a favor to his agent to act like there’s a market for his piece of shit quarterback?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:03 PM
Does anyone have a link (tweet?) in which Schefter claimed this?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:04 PM
Tell me about it. His rookie year he threw 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions! that is absolutely horrendous. No upside at all! How could any team with a rookie that has that kind of performance be expected to compete for championships in the QB’s second year!
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:04 PM
Al Davis, Keith Richards, Abe Vigoda.
Sportsgal…FMK…Go.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:04 PM
Did anything happen to Kiper when he kept pumping up Clausen before the draft?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:04 PM
I would bet on Miley Cyrus first. Al Davis’ mother lived to 103, and we all know Keith Richards can not die.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:04 PM
“The Raiders have never discussed trading for Leinart.
Thank God.
The Raiders are very happy about their quarterback situation.”
Oh, my.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:05 PM
Adam Schefter sucks
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:05 PM
I would bet on Miley Cyrus first
Is fetch going to love her to death?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:05 PM
We really need the Pirates and Raiders to remain as stupid, confusing and awful as they currently are. I think we’re in good position.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:06 PM
Raiders being Raiders. Although I a press conference to rail on Shefter would have been better than just a press release.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:06 PM
I would bet on Miley Cyrus first. Al Davis’ mother lived to 103, and we all know Keith Richards can not die.
“When the world is destroyed by nuclear war, two things will remain. Keith Richards and bugs.”
/Pours out some Jack in Bill Hicks’ honor.
//He wrote that over fifteen years ago.

Leinart will never be a Bill as long as Machine Gun Kelly has a say in the matter

Feel free to add in Notre Dame.
/Raider fan with no real comeback
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:09 PM
Oh I agree, I don’t WANT them to change. This arrangement works out great for everyone.* Is Al Davis going to be handing off the reigns to his offspring? It would be cool if the Raiders ineptitude was genetically inevitable.
*except Adam Schefter
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:09 PM
KC, I’d be more impressed if Bill Hicks had written that in the last 15 years

@BrawnyTom – It was actually me, but thanks.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:13 PM
Bill Hicks > Mark Sanchez
/ added for accuracy
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:13 PM
‘Cuz he’s been dead Stark
Jeez. That’s right. He died in like 93 or 94. Damn, he wrote that 20 years ago. And Keith is still kicking it.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:13 PM
The question is whats the breakdown of Sanchez versus Leinart?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:13 PM
Leinart will never be a Bill as long as Machine Gun Kelly has a say in the matter
cot damn right
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:14 PM
Hey, I did it! I found a way to make a comment about Maqrk Sanchez and use the word “accuracy” without the words “lack of”! What do I win?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:14 PM
Al doesn’t own the majority of the team…he is actually just the managing general partner. I am not sure if he has the right to name a successor, or if the board will vote on one when he dies in 2034 (the latter seems more probable).

Meanwhile, Florio continues to desperately grasp at straws.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:15 PM
Leinart is better.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:16 PM
Kudos to you.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:16 PM
I’ll take Sanchez. Leinart is that bad. At least Sanchez has confidence, unwarranted or not.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:17 PM
Who would have thought that going into the 2010 NFL season that Vince Young is most likely to have a better overall season than Leinart and Cutler
/suck it Hoge
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:19 PM
Al Davis or Keith Richards?
percy harvin
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:21 PM
What a shitty year to draft a QB. Arguably the best QB in the draft.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:23 PM
can we throw carson palmer in there too? granted, he’s the best of the bunch, but he’s still a cocky faggot.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:24 PM
DJ Shockley?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:25 PM
Bad confident QB’s fuck there way into things and by god they are going to fuck their way out of it.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:26 PM
Hey fans! Only one more week to enter to win a trip to meet Merril Hoge!
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:26 PM
I don’t think we’ll be seeing TBL for a few hours.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:26 PM
Arguably the best QB in the draft
Oh, come on. Vince Young may not be great and he’s totally unorthodox but he’s pretty clearly the best QB in that draft. Decent pick by the Titans. And, Spencer, Carson Palmers “cockiness” is the same thing as his “faggotry” – no need to list both
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:26 PM
We really need the Pirates and Raiders to remain as stupid, confusing and awful as they currently are. I think we’re in good position.
you know that many experts believe that the current Pirates management has been doing a really good rebuilding job, right?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:26 PM
Young still sucks, those other guys just suck more.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:27 PM
Only fake Rex Ryan can top the Sex Cannon. Even King Laserface doesn’t standup to that parody.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:27 PM
id still take cutler over VY.
it’s not cutler’s fault he’s saddled with shit…ok, maybe it’s his fault a little bit.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:27 PM
What a bunch of shit. You see that picture of him? Bro, if I’m gonna meet you, you better be wearing a tie, and that knot better be the size of your head!
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:28 PM
Arguably the best QB in the draft
Pittsburgh’s ability to produce QBs continues unabated
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:28 PM
Leinart should have stayed at USC.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:30 PM
Yeah, I fucked that up. Cutler is better. VY? Too close to call.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:31 PM
The funny thing is if Leinart goes into the 05 draft like he should have he would be on the 49ers and everyone would still be picking the 49ers to win the division.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:32 PM
Cutler is better at turning the ball over and losing, so if that’s what you like a QB to do, yeah, I guess he’s better.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:33 PM
The funnier thing is that as a Niners fan, I am 100% confident hed we picked Rodgers over Smith, Rodgers would be sucky, and Smith would probably be tearing it up
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:33 PM
The funny thing is if Leinart goes into the 05 draft like he should have he would be on the 49ers and everyone would still be picking the 49ers to win the division.
But he would have been the #1 QB on their depth chart. Kurt Warner wouldn’t have come along and dethroned him. And because the Niners were such a shitty team, he’d have gotten the benefit of the doubt. Given the Cards’ recent success, any dip in form means it’s his fault.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:34 PM
@ YYSA: With pretty much the same disclaimers, ie, “In spite of their average to worse QB play…”
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:37 PM
I keep saying it, the pirates will win the world series in 2015.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:38 PM
Maybe so. Rodgers has a shitload of talent, but McCarthy and Clements completely tore apart and changed his mechanics over 3 years, all of which he spent learning under [Minnesota QB]. The way the Packers developed him obviously has a lot to do with his success.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:38 PM
Leading up to the draft in 2005 I wanted the 49ers to trade the pick I knew we needed a qb but I didn’t want Smith or Rodgers.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:41 PM

Really wish the 49ers would bring in Joe Montana to work with Smith as some type of coach so he could quit doing those damn skechers commercials.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:41 PM
Mike, I think that’s more a Jeff Tedford thing than a (Lee Jeans) thing
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:42 PM
I meant Wrangler, but whatever, same difference
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:46 PM
I meant Wrangler, but whatever, same difference
no, not the same, at all. Wranglers have a realness and a comfortableness that is unmatched in the denim industry.
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:46 PM
100% agree with this….neither one of those guys were worth the #1 pick,..unfortunately the rest of the league knew it too and we couldnt shit for trade value
I hope I am wrong, but I think we will regret passing on Clausen in the draft…the guy is a jerk, but he can ball
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:50 PM
Did LeBron James write the Raiders’ press release?
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:53 PM
I hope I am wrong, but I think we will regret passing on Clausen in the draft…the guy is a jerk, but he can ball
I liked upgrading the offensive line if the two rookies can hang and Smith gets a little time to throw he will be fine.
September 2nd, 2010 at 3:01 PM
The Raiders are bat shit crazy and paranoid and Shefter (no matter what you think of him) should probably wear this as a badge of honor.
September 2nd, 2010 at 3:25 PM
I liked upgrading the offensive line if the two rookies can hang and Smith gets a little time to throw he will be fine.
I’m a Niner fan too and I agree – upgrading the o-line was a much better move than going for Clausen, especially that early in the draft. Don’t trust Smith still but was hoping they wouldn’t go after Clausen that early. Now if they had taken him in the second round (one pick away) I would have loved that.
September 2nd, 2010 at 5:23 PM
The Raiders? LOL. I think they have many more pressing problems than what some guy from ESPN says. … like getting rid of that worst team in the NFL the last 7 years label.
