The San Diego Padres Have Lost 10 in a Row
1-liner, Baseball September 6th. 2010, 11:05amSan Diego Padres: Just two weeks ago, the NL West leaders were poised to be the best story in baseball this summer – the team with the second lowest payroll in the majors was going to win the division and improbably reach the postseason. Look around the web and see if you can find anyone who predicted the Padres would finish above .500 or win the division. Not even PECOTA had the Padres being a factor. Now it’s all falling apart, as the Padres have lost 10 in a row and the Giants have crept within one game with about 26 to play. Worse yet, their upcoming schedule is brutal – three vs. the Dodgers, four vs. the Giants, three in Colorado, four in St. Louis, and no days off in between. [Union Trib]

Where’s the brutal part? The Dodgers suck, the Giants can’t hit at Petco, the Rockies are middling and the Cardinals are falling apart. Do they have a series against the Mets we should worry about too?

Yeah, The Cards cant beat anyone but the Reds. The Giants series should be real good, the Rockies seem to always just win games in September. Crazy how far the Pads have fallen, though.

The brutal part is they have no days off, the dodgers can still pull out wins, the giants are right behind them and the Rockies can always put together an impressive streak this time of year. Oh, and the padres are young and might start getting tired/flustered. It’s not looking good.

they can rename Baltimore checkdown city. I guess Boldin gets to be the deep threat.

Ha Chris Peterson in an interview on ESPN just admitted that a playoff would afford less access to teams like Boise State. He gets it.

I’m confused. What does any of this have to do with the Jets?

Padres haven’t had a slide yet this season. Latos’ inning limit is hurting them. More than anything, their bullpen is starting to fail them. Up until now, it’s been outstanding. That Frieri kid they called up has been getting torched lately.
Robert Redford marathon successful, gents. Thanks for the tips yesterday. My favorite so far has been All The President’s Men. Tackling The Candidate this morning.

Stallworth is still there, until his semi-annual hamstring pull/DUI manslaughter. Housh will barely play I’m guessing, #4 WR.

Stallworth’s out two months with a broken foot.
