Joe Paterno Is Older Than Most Working Professionals
College Football December 22nd. 2010, 4:00pm
Joe Paterno should retire, says columnist. Paterno is 84-years-old and has won 401 games. As long as he keeps coaching, people will write columns about how he’s too old to coach. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, Morning Call.
Paterno finally is showing his age physically and, it appears, he is not as focused mentally as he used to be. Penn State this year lost five games, four by large margins, its home attendance fell by an average of 2,800 per game, and, with higher ticket prices kicking in next fall at Beaver Stadium, the program soon could need a shot of energy.
Feel free to read the entire list of reasons Joe Paterno is too old to coach. You’ll be surprised to learn that age is a factor.

This argument should be fairly easy to make, and the guy who wrote the article failed miserably.

JoePa retiring would kill Penn State tv ratings…I’m convinced half of the viewers tune in on the ever increasing chance that he croaks on the sideline
/how else do you explain the ratings for the shitty brand of football on the field
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:12 PM
I would like to beat Mike McQueary (real name).

Oh, mentiroso!!!

Somewhere there is a folding chair in a Wal-Mart entrance with his name on it.

even with a poor year, Penn State has a chance to win 30 games over the past 3 years with a win over Florida. I believe Duke refers to 30 wins as a decade.

I think most people know he should retire, but he is such a part of that school that no one will force him out. He’s there as long as he wants to be. As a Nebraska fan I hope he sticks around another 5 years.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:18 PM
2 decades. At least, since the Ball Coach left us.
/30 wins is a decade for Penn State in basketball though

It’s his car, he built it. Let him drive it as long as he likes. Even if he’s really sitting on the passenger side now, and steering with a dummy wheel. Who is this hurting?
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:21 PM
In the past 5 years only USC, Texas, Florida, and Ohio State have more wins than PSU. (TCU and Potato Community also)

I was informed this was a bus.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:24 PM
Nice caption. Gams isn’t used enough nowadays.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:25 PM
The bus broke down in Reno, and some people have been salty ever since.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:26 PM
Who is this hurting?
according to this blog and many of its commentors, it is killing Penn State football. they went 7-5 this year!!! (never mind back to back 11 win seasons) their recruiting class is so small, no one will play for him (forget about last year’s top 10 class, and the fact that they don’t have a ton of guys graduating, so they can’t sign a full 25).

I wouldn’t go that far, maybe crap his pants though.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:28 PM
Who’s the ginger?
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:31 PM
There’s no better reason to be salty than being stuck in Reno. Reno is the west’s puckered butthole.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:33 PM
A Joepa post? Et tu CRM?
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:34 PM
I believe his name is Mike Mcquery he used to be a QB at PSU. I think he is now the QB coach.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:36 PM
that has to be it for Brown, right? I can’t see any team hiring him at this point.
And as for Shaun Hill, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’d stick with Stanton if he is fully healthy.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:37 PM
As a University of New Mexico alumn, I would take a 97 year-old Paterno over Mike Locksley any day…
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:38 PM
Hill was doing some good things before he went down. Good things being throwing it up near Megatron and letting him come down with it, but still…
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:43 PM
True, Joepa is only a threat to crap his pants, I can’t see him slugging an assistant coach.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:45 PM
As a city university alumn, I have no idea what my schools team name is.
December 22nd, 2010 at 4:49 PM
That, along with the 2-22 record…college football is depressing ’round here.
