Music City Bowl: North Carolina vs. Tennessee
College Football December 30th. 2010, 6:30pm
Bowl: Music City Bowl
Teams: North Carolina (7-5) vs. Tennessee (6-6)
Toasting Town: Nashville, Tennessee
Vintage: 1998
Alternate Name: Regional Matchup Bowl
Baldwin Level: Daniel
Scheduling: Tennesee bought out a home and home series with North Carolina in 2011-12 for $750,000. They wanted an easier schedule. They now play a non-conference slate of Montana, Cincinnati, Buffalo and Middle Tennessee next year. Six wins assured. College Football, “The Best Regular Season in Sports.”
Scandal: North Carolina lost a raft of players to ineligibility and suspensions from improper benefits and academic scandals, including potential top 20 picks Robert Quinn and Marvin Austin. Newton-gate and the flux of the regular season overshadowed this. It will heat back up when the NCAA holds its Committee on Infractions.
Orange Crush: The Music City Bowl, featuring Tennessee in Tennessee, sold out. This must mean people love bowl games.
For North Carolina to Win: The Tar Heels will be short-handed at running back. They need a strong passing performance from T.J. Yates. On defense, they should press their advantage on freshman quarterback Tyler Bray. He has been promising but erratic. They can pressure and have the playmakers in the secondary to force mistakes.
For Tennessee to Win: Tennessee needs to get pressure on T.J. Yates and force turnovers. In their four-game winning streak that closed the season, they had 13 sacks and capitalized on 15 turnovers. On offense, they aren’t a great running team. They need to protect Tyler Bray, put him in positions where he can be successful and hope he can convert on key third downs.
Prediction: The Tar Heels came razor close to winning their last two bowl games. Against a freshman quarterback, I think they get it done here.

Yes, because programs will quit scheduling patsies if a playoff is in effect.

Yes, because you keep banging on your stupid drum that provides sounds that are tone-deaf.

North Carolina is a cupcake game you blathering idiot. They decided they didn’t want to give up the home game money. I don’t care what the article said, they were just trying be polite.
Seriously, would you please just stick to writing about soccer? You have proven time and again that you don’t know anything about college football. It is almost as comical as TBL writing about sports.

blathering? sounds like a chutney of some sort. i’ll have a scone with some pomegranate blathering.

That was a much bigger celebration than the K-state guy – that was at least 3-4 salutes with much more vigor
December 30th, 2010 at 7:28 PM
This big time.

As a KU fan, I have no problem saying that was fucked up. I have a ton of friends in NY today for the game. What a shitty taste they must have in their mouths. Fucking horrible.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:33 PM
I was trying to flip back and forth, but both times it was after a US goal.

so this guy hs to be canned, right?
December 30th, 2010 at 7:35 PM
It was earlier today and I forget if it was early Syracuse/KSU or Army/SMU but I saw two refs run up to a player and attempt to hold down his arms after he scored a touchdown. It’s fucking ridiculous.

Jersey, the States has dominated (as expected) two nice goals so far. Germans are going to be taking penalties all night.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:36 PM
gross. only the jags can fuck the texans out of a top 10 pick
December 30th, 2010 at 7:36 PM
yea found it. this will work.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:39 PM
I’ve always wondered why Germans aren’t good at hockey. Were they never good at Hockey?
December 30th, 2010 at 7:39 PM
Tex, I’m just hoping that 8~8 isn’t enough to give the coaching staff another year. Starting to think it might be.

The Germans’ best athletes play futbol and enter the youth academies early. They don’t spend money (relatively speaking) on youth hockey.
The German Elite League is one of the better leagues in Europe. But under European Union rules players from other EU countries are not considered imports (many other Euro leagues have stringent import limits). So young players don’t develop, starting to see more of them come play in the CHL.

Lol, TF.

Boise gets “screwed” out of the BCS, but they get there by playing tomato cans. Teams like Tennessee try to do the same thing to compete, since their in conference schedule is actually hard, and you blow them shit
what an idiot
December 30th, 2010 at 7:47 PM
YOu get the strap yet
December 30th, 2010 at 7:48 PM
Alright, thanks Zeus. You would just think considering their size, geography, climate, love for sports, etc., that they would at some point say “Hey! Let’s get good at hockey!”
December 30th, 2010 at 7:49 PM
Not yet, but the scripts have been made. The promo will be shot and posted. Don’t you worry.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:49 PM
oh my. I just saw a pic of katy perry without her mask on and shes hideous
December 30th, 2010 at 7:50 PM
Why did Rick Nash ever sign that extension with the Blue Jackets? I ask myself this every time I see the Jackets play. He was the central figure in my master plan to rebuild the Leafs.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:52 PM
Was reading some twitter and someone questioned Peter King as to why Del Rio isn’t a Coach of the Year candidate.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:52 PM
Not shocked, but that doesn’t take away from her glory.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:52 PM
O don’t understand that either Garland.
He should have signed for 3 years and see what kind of team they could build. With that cap hit, he’s not easy to move.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:53 PM
It was always about her breasts to me…and there’s no picture that can make those look bad.
December 30th, 2010 at 7:57 PM
oh my. I just saw a pic of katy perry without her mask on and shes hideous
She look like Rosie O’Donnell?
Gotta give her credit. She hides her ugliness behind clown make-up & her bad voice behind an autotune machine. Amazing what a pair of the same fake tits that 5 million women in this country have has done for her career
December 30th, 2010 at 7:58 PM
That’s what I was banking on him doing.
The Leafs are so fucked. I’ve been checking out the big minor midget tournament going on this week and trying to project which players could potentially be high picks in 3-4 years based on the assumption that the Leafs will be picking high and might actually have their picks.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:01 PM
I have been reduced to cheering for the Islanders, cause it doesn’t look like the Devils will be ‘caught’.
Whitney’s injury is big, if he is done for the year the Oilers are finished.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:04 PM
I love Charlie Coyle. He is going to be a great one.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:04 PM
its the whole Betty Boop and vintage 50s look
December 30th, 2010 at 8:07 PM
He’s been impressive Fetch. Not many teams have a more impressive draft history in the last 10 years than the Sharks.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:08 PM
I’d kill for the Leafs to be in the Oilers position. Leafs are years away from even being a borderline playoff team.

Gotta love the Knicks getting rolled again in the state of Florida.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:13 PM
that the UND black jerseys are 2nd best in college hockey only to our greens, which are the best in hockey period.

Spike following them around in that blue & orange clown costume still, or did he bail after Miami?
/what a fucking douchebag
December 30th, 2010 at 8:17 PM
That is an awful lie to be perpetuating.

December 30th, 2010 at 8:19 PM
Uh oh, can’t afford to lose Campbell to injury.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:20 PM
Someone is getting chippy today. Just don’t hit me.
December 30th, 2010 at 8:30 PM
Someone is getting chippy today. Just don’t hit me.
naw, never hit you Jersey. Just laugh at 50+ Spike running around in that stupid uni all the time. Fine at the Garden, but showing up at Staples or in Miami courtside wearing it is kinda lame
