Tebow Was Mic’d During Broncos-Texans: “There’s Only One Person That Carries the Ball Right Here”
NFL, Tim Tebow, Video December 30th. 2010, 10:10amTim Tebow was mic’d for sound in Sunday’s thrilling Denver-Houston game, and while the Broncos’ rookie didn’t come across as cool as Matt Stafford last year, we’re fairly certain even the Tebow haters will walk away from this video liking the former Florida star. Our three favorite parts: (:34) “Hey Pollard, how we have so many Purdue guys on the field, dog? … Purdue don’t roll like that” and (4:27, to his coach): “There’s only one person that carries the ball right here!” and (6:00, from Amobi Okoye) “Lose some weight so it’s easier to tackle you.”

I really want to hate him, but that makes it hard. “Yes, sir.” was almost as good as his use of “shoot” instead of shit.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:17 AM
If the media would quit pounding him down our throat, he would be likable.

//ok, not really Favre’d

I like Tebow, I’m glad this came against the Texans. Kubiak and the ownership deserve this.

i love soundfx.
this was great.

Tim is my favorite gay athlete.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:20 AM
What you may not have noticed is that they also over-layed the mic’ing of Brady Quinn so you could compare their quarterbacking nuances.

“Just a good ol’ boy, never meanin’ no harm; beats all you ever saw, he been runnin’ with the bawwww since the day he was borrrrrrn…”
I’m fairly certain they’re still going to make me wish ill upon him eventually, provided he wins something and they can put the marketing into the next gear.

These mic’d up videos are always cool.

didn;t catch him swearing. can you imagine playing that game (or really, even washing dishes) without swearing?

December 30th, 2010 at 10:25 AM
Don’t worry Correll Buckhalter, Percy Harvin knows how it feels to do all the work and have the glory stolen.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:25 AM
“Hey Pollard, how we have so many Purdue guys on the field, dog? … Purdue don’t roll like that”
amazing the differences between Purdue & Texas. Texas always has an awesome team and guys that suck when they turn pro, and Purdue has teams that suck with tons of guys who play well in the league
Hopefully the next CEO of UT football will figure out the problem
December 30th, 2010 at 10:26 AM
It will be interesting to see how he does next year with a training camp and a bunch of film available on him.
There’s something to be said for leadership over pure talent.
Unfortunately for me, Alex Smith has neither.

when someone says “you should like this” my initial reaction is to hate said subject. so instead of embracing tebow, i’ll just call him a one-read faggot with a stupid long delivery who’s more bark than bite at the NFL level, thank josh mcdaniels for peyton hillis again and continue on my day.

yes…there’s something. and that something should be a small portion of whatever you’re looking at because talent still wins, no matter what.
brady might be a great leader and all that bullshit, but it’s his ridiculous talent that got him there. there have been a lot of good characters at QB who haven’t made it because their tangibles don’t match up with their intangibles.

on of the guys on Sirius talked to an ass’t off the record last week about whether it was an “act” or not, and how the players react to him. The Assistant says it’s all real, and that he’s infectious, that the guys immediately pick up when he’s around
/bring it on, haters
December 30th, 2010 at 10:32 AM
Against the Texans? Meh.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:34 AM
see…i really don’t care about this shit. it sucks that we can’t talk about tim tebow the football player and instead waste all this discussion about whether or not he’s a real leader. this is fucking retarded.
he’s a fucking quarterback, not fucking douglas macarthur.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:34 AM
/googles “tim tebow fucking doublas macarthur”
December 30th, 2010 at 10:35 AM
brady might be a great leader and all that bullshit, but it’s his ridiculous talent that got him there.
if it was his ridiculous talent, he wouldn’t have been drafted #199. It’s his burning desire to win. It’s going up to Bob Kraft as an unknown 6th Round draft choice, introducing himself and shaking his hand, and telling Kraft he won’t regret picking him. THAT’S the main reason he’s there. All guys in the league can play, to some extent. It’s that desire that the Brady’s and Mannings have that differentiate themselves from the Moss’ and JaMarcus Russell’s
December 30th, 2010 at 10:37 AM
I think Tebow has talent, too. Don’t sell him short on raw athletic ability.
My liking of him comes more from the fact that he’s a great human being than his ability to play football though. I just can’t make fun of a guy that devotes the time and energy this guy does to all his efforts off the field.
It is a shame that he had to go and play in Gainesville though.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:37 AM
see…i really don’t care about this shit.
we know, you love Sergio Garcia hitting 240 yard 5 irons, but never winning anything. You’re big on youtube highlight plays. You’ve made that painfully obvious for 3 years on here

December 30th, 2010 at 10:38 AM
I agree with all that. It also took Mo Lewis nearly breaking Drew Bledsoe in half.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:39 AM
if he didn’t have talent, he wouldn’t have been drafted at all. plus, nobody knows how to pick QB’s.
then again, brady has actually accomplished something in his NFL career to be considered a leader of men, and not just a leader of boys.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:40 AM
He should have that looked at.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:40 AM
im big on being entertained and this disney-esque glorification bullshit about tebow is not entertaining.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:40 AM
Ok no one’s saying Tebow has proven himself to be an awesome NFL QB yet or anything, we just like him. Geesh.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:41 AM
I agree with all that. It also took Mo Lewis nearly breaking Drew Bledsoe in half.
exactly. Desire and luck play as much a part between a guy making $3 million/year in the NFL and working at Wendy’s as talent does. How many guys really would have been great, but got drafted by the wrong team for their skill set, or got injured all the time?
December 30th, 2010 at 10:41 AM
the curly haired boyfriend actually had a semi decent article/perspective on this today. first column of his i read in years, but he goes on and on about how no one at all gave brady a first glance, let alone a second glance except for Weis who wanted brady to challenge bledsoe for the starting job in the near future. (reportedly)

December 30th, 2010 at 10:42 AM
jpq…and how am i the one who’s getting knocked for rooting for guys who don’t win shit, yet here you are defending a guy who’s reputation, at this point in time, is nothing short of pure crock?
there have been plenty of backup QB’s in the NFL who have led fourth quarter comebacks against shitty defenses in meaningless games for two teams without any playoff aspirations. you don’t hear us reciting hosanas for kelly holcomb and bruce gradkowski do you?
December 30th, 2010 at 10:44 AM
Aw-shucks fullbacks are highly entertaining to the Larry the Cable Guy crowd.

jpq…and how am i the one who’s getting knocked for rooting for guys who don’t win shit, yet here you are defending a guy who’s reputation, at this point in time, is nothing short of pure crock?
like CJ said, it’s probably because I like the kid. Is he going to be the all-time best QB ever? Probably not in a million years, but to discount leadership and his “rah rah” attitude as not contributing to his being a better QB or in making his team respond to him is wrong.
The Raiders players (at least what’shisDBname did) said they knew JRussell could throw a ball through a brick wall, but knew in their hearts they had no chance to win with him as QB because he didn’t study. Tebow doesn’t have those skills, but makes up for it in other ways
December 30th, 2010 at 10:47 AM
Those aren’t in season right now, are they?

December 30th, 2010 at 10:52 AM
it’s part of the package, obviously, and im not discounting it in any way. but the dude is a legitimately good football player, no qualifications, and he’s improved a shitload from his time in florida so why do we get another recycled reason to like the guy? there’s a real, live new story here that’s being put to the side for more bronze plaque BS.
my point isn’t that i hate tebow for any reason (i don’t) but that i hate hearing the same story that’s been written four fucking thousand times over. i like tebow because he’s good and tough and plays hard, not because he gives good speeches.

I didn’t even hear other guys around him swearing. Do you think they swear less when Tebow’s in the room? Is he like grandma and the guys are like, “We don’t say those things in front of Tebow.”
December 30th, 2010 at 10:57 AM
CJ, that is retarded. The Rapist and Vick can run offenses in spite of poor offensive line play (and both lines haven’t been terrible all season, just inconsistent).
And everything Spencer is saying about the Pats and Brady I agree with.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:58 AM
I wasn’t saying it to be mean, just an observation.
Fuck, this cold is dominating me so bad right now I might just ditch drinking all together tomorrow.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:58 AM
Its starting to hurt less. I think this year could exercise some demons. Pats are about to break the 08 Giants record of fewwest turnovers. And if they beat the Dolphins Belichick will become the first head coach ever to have 4 14 win teams. And every time they have won 14 games they’ve made the Superbowl.

They sure can, they also are more prone to hanging on to the ball and trying to make a play on their feet than throwing the ball away if the coverage is good. No disprespect but it does make the OL look worse when youre running back and forth and getting hit more than other QBs.

I’d put a Guaran-Sheed out there that the Pats are not winning the Super Bowl this year. Bound to have a Browns game in the playoffs. Most likely against the Chiefs.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:01 AM
I’m not a big Pats fan but after the Jets game they were still +500 to win the Super Bowl on Betus so I threw a few bones on it.

The time he had to throw during the 2007 regular season was ridiculous. The highlights would show him just standing there waiting for Moss to get far enough downfield for his liking before he’d launch it.
/Dude has a cannon

//bottom line…the SSS is the times when he has days in the pocket. brady gets rid of the ball as fast as any QB in the lig*.
*no hyperbole there
December 30th, 2010 at 11:06 AM
watch the defenses brah…it’s easy to sit in the pocket with 7-8 guys in coverage (with safeties not even daring to blitz because of moss). even the shittiest OL’s could deal with that.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:07 AM
OK, I can see where you’re coming from now. I could quibble that it only makes your O-line look worse to people who don’t know what they’re really watching, but I think you’d agree with that anyway.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:07 AM
The fact that Brady is always the guy brought up in discussions like this proves he’s an anomaly and not a model for future success for other teams.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:08 AM
be ready for the dolphins to pull a win out of this one. good fuel for belichick to use in the bye week as they get ready for the chiefs or ravens.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:08 AM
What I mean is, someone who looks just at the sack numbers and says “Oh my god the Eagles offensive line is awful!” That person is not someone who’s opinion is relevant.
That sounded like Polian, didn’t it? Eff.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:10 AM
Actually thats Romo.
/if we are talking release
Realistically its Peyton. His offensive line is horrible and when he knows his coverage isn’t there he throws it in the dirt.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:10 AM
I kinda like Tebow (never understood the hate) but he sounds like he’s delivering the lines frantically, like he’s trying to be too enthusiastic at a school play.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:13 AM
yea, but romo holds onto the ball like big ben does. but still, dude flings it out quick. agreed with all of your comment.

Hard to believe Romo is going to be 31 when next season starts. It will be interesting (even if I wasn’t an NFC East fan) to see how his career develops from here on out. He’s got what, three and a half seasons in as a starter?
December 30th, 2010 at 11:20 AM

18 game schedule is going to be murder on the games… if you were going to start an NFL team with a currrent backup QB (who has never been a starter), who would you pick? Webb, Hoyer, Flynn, Gradkowski… not a lot to work with.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:39 AM
Thats what happens when you got a great QB like Drew Bledsack stacked in front of you. He has 4 years. That will be it. None of that matters because Stephen McGee will be dominating the NFC East for years to come.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:39 AM
gradkowski’s started a decent bit of games.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:42 AM
I’ve long thought that as great as he is, if Peyton would stand tall and take a few more hits and deliver the ball a second later he would probably have more jewelry.

Okay, add McGee to the list… mostly I just want to know who is the next Brady/Romo/Cassel (un-low-drafted guy with 1-2 years backup absorbing a system who could be a good starter in the league. Frankly I’d put my money on Hoyer, as long as Belichick keeps churning out 6th round Pro-Bowlers.

I’ve never understood the Flacco hype so much. He left Pitt because he couldn’t beat out Tyler Freaking Palko for the start, who is now in the illustrious position behind Brodie Croyle on KC’s practice squad.
I liked him a while but can’t pass judgement till he gets a good coach.
