Omar Kelly, who covers the Dolphins for the Sun-Sentinel, sent a couple of tweets this week about some players who may be moving elsewhere in the offseason. In regard to Vince Young, Kelly says “I’m told to bank it, Titans QB Vince Young will be playing for the Vikings in 2011. They have his QB coach and Leslie Frazier.” Vince Young hasn’t been officially released yet, though the Titans have said he will not be on the team next year, and will be traded or released.

Young may have one additional thing going for him if the Titans release him and move on-availability. The labor talks and a potential lockout during the offseason may limit trades such as a move for Kevin Kolb or Donovan McNabb, and the price may be more palatable. Young is an interesting case. Coming in, there were questions about his throwing motion and mechanics; going out, the questions now revolve around his ability to operate on a team and be a leader. He’s not a hopeless case, but he’s going to have to grow up quickly. I’m not sure going to an organization that just coddled a quarterback and let him operate outside the team concept is a great immediate first step.

On DeAngelo Williams, Kelly says he’s surfaced to the top of the must get list for the Dolphins. Ordinarily, I would say 28-year old running backs are a bad investment. It will depend on his price, and I certainly wouldn’t break the bank on him. Still, I see Priest Holmes-like potential in Williams if he gets to the right situation. Holmes moved to Kansas City from Baltimore in 2001 at the same age as Williams will be in 2011. Of course, “right situation” and Chad Henne probably shouldn’t go together, though Jake Long could certainly play the Willie Roaf role.
