Carson Palmer’s House in Cincinnati is For Sale [UPDATE]
1-liner, NFL February 10th. 2011, 12:15pmCarson Palmer: How badly does he want out of Cincinnati? “Channel 9 Sports has learned that Palmer is about to list his Indian Hill home for sale. A local Comey-Shepherd representative confirmed that preparations are being made to put Palmer’s residence on the market, hopefully by March.” Is this a ploy by Palmer to force the Bengals’ into trading him? Or is he really willing to retire at 32 and leave millions on the table? Palmer was born in California, raised in California, and went to USC. Wonder if he’s moving back West? Wonder if he hopes to Jim Harbaugh will have him in San Francisco? [UPDATE: A reader notes Palmer bought some property in Del Mar, which is outside San Diego, in December.]

Comey Shepherd is a sex dog, right?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:16 PM
Mike Brown is a stubborn old bastard. If he wants out, his only option is retirement.
Of course, as a Browns fan, I’m hoping he does retire so they can draft Ryan Mallett with the 4th pick.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:18 PM
Trade him to the Niners for a 3rd round pick and Troy Smith.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:18 PM
Harbaugh is loving Alex Smith…however, both Smith and Palmer will accomplish his goal: Luck 2012
February 10th, 2011 at 12:19 PM
he’s made over $70+ mil and his family is rich…he’ll be fine.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:20 PM
Dammit, ScarletFever. I wish I would have waited for my hee-larious joke so that your comment would be aligned perfectly next to the headline “Could Ryan Mallet Fall to the 3rd Round?”
February 10th, 2011 at 12:21 PM
Channel 9 Sports has learned that Palmer is about to list his Indian Hill home for sale
Dude, Indian is not the preferred nomenclature. Please, Native American Hill.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:22 PM
I read it as Commie, like a nazi
February 10th, 2011 at 12:23 PM
Irrelevant. He’s supposed to perform for our amusement!
February 10th, 2011 at 12:23 PM
What if he’s just moving to a different house in the area?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:23 PM
I prefer feathers-not-dots Hill
February 10th, 2011 at 12:24 PM
Haha, that would have synced up perfectly. I am quite pleased that my Ryan Mallett = Ryan Leaf 2.0 prophecy is coming to fruition.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:24 PM
What if he’s just moving to a different house in the area?
Mind=blown.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:24 PM
If this thing gets really ugly, isnt gonna be a little awkward for his little brother next year?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:25 PM
I am quite pleased that my Ryan Mallett = Ryan Leaf 2.0 prophecy is coming to fruition.
I like calling him Dan McLeaf. He’s got the physical tools of Dan McGwire and the personality of Ryan Leaf. What could go wrong?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:25 PM
This post reminds me of all the “Bill Cowher is buying a house in Cleveland!!!!!” hoopla of a couple years ago.
Rich people buy and sell houses all the time. Don’t read too much into it.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:26 PM
No, b/c his ass will be cut.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:26 PM
he’s not…his wife said to the media that he needs to get out of cincy. that doesn’t mean moving to the kentucky side*.
*i know what you’re saying…isn’t all of cincy the kentucky side**?
**yes…yes it is.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:27 PM
Rich people buy and sell houses all the time. Don’t read too much into it.
Did you know Vanilla Ice is a house flipper in Palm Beach? I didn’t until recently when HGTV brought that little nugget into my life.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:27 PM
Yep. Plus, he knows he isn’t as good as he once was. He’s got a nice family, plenty of dough, and he’s probably smart enough to know that doing nothing, being healthy, having peace of mind and living in SoCal > Playing with a shitty football team, having shitty health, being berated constantly, and living in Cincinnati.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:28 PM
until he proves you completely wrong, and then you look like a fucking idiot.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:28 PM
Would it really be that shocking if he did decide to retire? He hasn’t been the same since the leg injury. He’s made plenty of money (although selling a house in this market isn’t a great investment move on his part), why not leave now before the lockout happens and be a TV guy?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:28 PM
It’s okay, he’s got his movie-peeing business to fall back on.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:29 PM
Spencer… I used to think this way too. But how do you really turn down something like $40M? That’s just so much money.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:29 PM
Yeah sure…..and Sean Payton isn’t having secret underground meetings with Jerry Jones.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:30 PM
While I don’t think listing his home for sale is any indication of intent, I do think Palmer has had enough of the Bengals’ dysfunction and wants out. His best bet, though, would be to have his agent look for a team interested in a 32-year old QB (someone like Arizona or Minnesota) and try to put together a package that would entice Mike Brown into letting him go.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:30 PM
I am pretty good at predicting which QBs are destined to become utter failures.
/see Clausen, Jimmy
February 10th, 2011 at 12:31 PM
Reportedly the Predators are about to make a deal to upgrade their team significantly. Fuck… Please don’t be Fisher.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:31 PM
Could just be that neighbor Pete Frampton’s all-night jam sessions are getting annoying.

Chipotle for lunch.. I win!
February 10th, 2011 at 12:32 PM
all that extra $40mm would do is create an estate tax pain in the ass for his survivors. unless you’re straight up retarded, it’s almost impossible to spend that type of money in a lifetime.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:32 PM
It’s all a ploy to get Jordan the starting job.
/not really

There was this absolutely amazing feature in one of the Washington free papers a long time ago (’98, I guess? Last time I lived there) about Vanilla Ice where he was trying to push himself as a punk rocker. I always remember the quote “How many of you motherfuckers known what ADD is?” from when he was on stage. I’ve tried finding it on the internets but there is too much Vanilla Ice related detritus to wade through
February 10th, 2011 at 12:32 PM

We all gave Ryan Leaf and Heath Shuler more than one year before their shittiness was declared. Jimmy deserves another shot at legitimacy.

I was thinking about doing the same. What’d ya get?
My standard is burrito bowl with black beans, veggies, chicken (sometimes barbacoa if I’m feeling saucy), hot salsa, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. I also steal a Chipotle Tabasco bottle and take it back to my office.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:34 PM
The Predators have acquired Mike Fisher from Ottawa for a first round pick and a conditional pick. Details will follow.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:34 PM
Mike Brown doesn’t get nearly enough crap nationally for being such a terrible owner/gm/head scout.
I’d like to see Palmer get one more legit shot (SF, Minn) before saying he’s no longer good. He’ll always be a statue in the pocket, but his arm is still there.

he-who-wore-#4-and-must-not-be-named proved that retiring is just a state of mind and negotiating ploy, it’s not really the end of a career.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:36 PM
Oooooh I better his wife is happy he’s moving to Nashville!
February 10th, 2011 at 12:36 PM
Was listening to Sirius NFL channel all day yesterday. They just had to keep mentioning that Sean Payton is moving his family to Dallas. Like anyone really thinks something major is going to happen. Dummies.

That’s how I read it too.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:38 PM
Take as many years as you’d like. My opinion of Jimmy was solidified the day he rolled up to the college football HOF in a stretch Hummer to announce he would be attending Notre Dame.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:38 PM
Oooooh I better his wife is happy he’s moving to Nashville!
He had a limited no trade clause, have to figure Nashville was at the top of the list. Sens shed serious salary in the deal.

Kenny Holland will acquire/sign Weber or Suter in the next 2-3 years.

Suter is a FA in 2012. Raffy is off the books.

February 10th, 2011 at 12:45 PM
How many years are left on Fisher’s contract?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:46 PM
Fisher has two more years on his deal at $4.2 M cap hit but real salary is $4 M next season and $3 M in last year.
That’s from LeBrun.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:46 PM
2 after this year. At a 4.2 cap hit.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:46 PM
Rusty? Again? What the hell is going on here?
February 10th, 2011 at 12:46 PM
How many years are left on Fisher’s contract?
2 years, cap hit of $4.2M for each year, but $4M and $3M in actual dollars.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:47 PM
Chrysler joke from the previous threads.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:48 PM
2 years… I bet you he and Underwood announce a separation or divorce by the summer of 2012.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:48 PM
you’re trapped in hockey quicksand. here, use this long pole to get yourself out of it and jump to the next post.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:50 PM
Per Mackenzie, Conditional pick is Preds 3rd round pick if Preds win 1 round in playoffs, turns into 2nd round pick in 2012 if the team wins two-or-more rounds.
I actually like the deal for both teams, Ottawa sheds salary and picks up picks for their rebuild. Preds get a solid player (though probably slightly overpaid), if any team can afford to move some picks it’s probably Nashville.
February 10th, 2011 at 12:50 PM

Well we’ll see you later Carson. Good luck getting 500k for that house you spent 2 million on in 2002. Cincy is a giant declining market when it comes to home values. He’s a punk and can leave, if his wife is in charge we don’t want his no ball having ass in Cincy anyway.
