Benched Pistons Laugh As Coach Is Ejected
NBA February 26th. 2011, 11:00amEminem’s Chrysler Super Bowl commercial was an inspiring rally cry for both America and Detroit. Well, most of Detroit. Slim Shady’s message did not resonate with the Pistons. They’re currently fussin’ and fuedin’ with head coach John Kuester. Friday saw a part of the team boycott Kuester by skipping shoot-around and then players laughed as he was ejected from their game against the 76ers.
Before All-Star weekend, some veterans tried to create a team-wide boycott of a shootaround in protest of Kuester. They held off in hopes that Kuester would be fired over the break or there would be some trades. Neither happened so they tried again Friday.
Seven players missed all, or part, of the shootaround before their game against the 76ers. Kuester was not pleased and went with a 6-man rotation while Austin Daye, Tracy McGrady, Ben Wallace, Chris Wilcox and Rodney Stuckey sat in uniform on the bench. When Kuester freaked out in the second quarter and got tossed, the players who didn’t have basketball to distract them, were shown laughing. This is not what Eminem meant when he was talking about “what we do in the Motor City.” Though, I suppose you could consider most of the actions in Detroit “brisk.”
They’ll get eventually.

Dumars has to either punish the players involved or fire the coach. I say suspend them (the players) all without pay.

Team needs to be blown up and players bought out. Keep Gordon, Daye, Jerebko and Monroe. The sale of the team needs to be finalized asap.

With the trade deadline missed, the only real option is to fire the coach. It would be unprecedented to get rid of all those players.
February 26th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
You’d think that, for a man who outright stole millions of dollars from the Rockets, T-Mac would know better than to put a bad spotlight on himself.
As for what Dumars should have done, how about traded most of these guys and tried to get younger and hungrier. Then maybe Kuester’s tactics would seem fresh.
Now, he’s going to have no choice but to fire Kuester and then use the summer to shed contracts.

The Knicks looked good last night against the “laughably bad” Cavs.
/LOL x infinity

Remember these are supposed professional athletes.

Kuester has no business being a head coach in the NBA.
February 26th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
This. I know that the players need to be more professional, but I’m guessing at least 20% of us on this site know what its like, not when you get just a bad boss, but a horribly incompetent and dumb boss.

Feel bad for the coach. When did Rip Hamilton turn into such a prick? I thought he was always considered a guy guy?

so, uh, hurley?

The players need to be suspended. Is there any coach in the NBA not named Jackson or Popovich who gets any respect? Why have coaches?
And if the Pistons are refusing to show up to practice to do their jobs, shouldn’t they be hiding out in Illinois?

Tmac and Ben Wallace, couple of classy guys
February 26th, 2011 at 12:06 PM
Dont fire the guy…would only give some backing to what the players did…suspend them all indefinitely and send a message.

February 26th, 2011 at 12:22 PM
Fuck him. Went to back to back finals w/o him and won a ring.
Flip is the one who should be laughing.
As for the Pistons fuck this team. Cut everyone and fire everyone but Daye and Monroe.
February 26th, 2011 at 12:25 PM
Very true, still can’t have a player mutiny though. Joe D needs to be fired, Keuster needs to be fired, team needs to be sold asap so this can happen.

February 26th, 2011 at 12:39 PM
TBL, if you were Rip Hamilton sitting on the bench as a “DNP – Coach’s Decision” for the majority of the season, you might get pissed too.
February 26th, 2011 at 12:46 PM
lol. Detroit is the ritz compared to that piece of shit city.
February 26th, 2011 at 12:53 PM

February 26th, 2011 at 1:05 PM
You guys have that nice little lighthouse though. I bet it brings in the tourists…
February 26th, 2011 at 1:07 PM
Well, there aren’t 1000 cops to kill black people anymore in Detroit. There’s like 17.
February 26th, 2011 at 1:10 PM
It’s right on Lake Michagan. Al Capone had a house there. It’s also produced Wilson Chandler, Anthony “Pig”Miller, Sinbad and Ernie Hudson. Also, Rober Whaley one of the biggest woulda coulda shouldas in the history of life.

February 26th, 2011 at 1:18 PM
Jose you have to get a Negro visa.
February 26th, 2011 at 1:23 PM
If I went to St Joseph and brought one of you with me, would I need a pass for you guys or is it okay because you’re with me?
February 26th, 2011 at 1:37 PM
when a coach buries you on the bench for the whole year, you’re not bringing him flowers.
