UNLV: The Rebels lost coach Lon Kruger to Oklahoma on Friday – did the Sooners overpay him? – and the two obvious names that popped up were former NBA player Reggie Theus and BYU assistant coach Dave Rice. Both played at UNLV. Rice’s selling point – his brother is the head coach at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, a powerhouse that has two Top 25 recruits in the class of 2012. Could Rice keep one or both of them local? Bobby Knight supposedly has expressed interest about the job, but my first inclination is that he’s looking for more money at ESPN. I hear UNLV is interested in Georgia coach Mark Fox, but that seems like a longshot. He dominated at Nevada, you may recall. [Review Journal]
