Thats a bad pic of her. I saw a pic of her standing next to one of your writers and oh shes gorgeous
May 6th, 2011 at 8:34 AM
I lolled at it. Solid, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

AM Roundup by CRM already has me hyped for the return of the PM Roundup.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
no bueno. they’re just pissed they missed out on another execution.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:38 AM
Well I’m laughing.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
For once, a list I have no major issues with. There is something (a MILF) for everyone.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:40 AM
TBL, if you’re around, I had to respond to this when I read it this morning.
The list was called “Best players of 2010″, not “Best Players people who only watch the Red Zone Channel know of 2010″.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:43 AM
I couldn’t even get all the way through the death row article. That shit has me seeing red. How public officials get away with that stuff is beyond me. I would even like to see folks be able to sue the state and cities that wrongly imprison them, provided there was some evidence of douchebaggery on the part of the prosecution.

Uncle Mo scratched
May 6th, 2011 at 8:46 AM
Woke up from surgery with an Irish accent…
kinda cool, like folks who get hit by lightning or have a stroke and suddenly develop a skill they didn’t have before (glowing, drooping face)
seriously, tho, like being able to play piano or quickly pick up a language
May 6th, 2011 at 8:47 AM
Not a hockey guy, but here in DC people are livid. I don’t see how you bring Boudreau back given the above.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
The heart-warming tale of a criminal who wanted to stay in jail so he could spend more time with his stepfather.
did he get drafted?

i wonder what the CEO of dominos when it was the worst is up to these days…
/2,722 days
May 6th, 2011 at 8:55 AM
Maybe its just the disgustingly bad options for pizza delivery near me, but I’m tempted to try Dominos again. A marketer sleeps happily tonight.

Maybe its just the disgustingly bad options for pizza delivery near me, but I’m tempted to try Dominos again. A marketer sleeps happily tonight.
i dont know what your options are, but domino’s is serviceable.but papa johns dominates the dojo
May 6th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
Sportswriter gets hit by an 81 mph pitch
when i covered a class a team that late braves pitcher Rick Mahler was pitching coach for (great sentence structure), the team had a pre-game media-locall celebs game and ‘hitting’ competition. against mahler, i hit the ball to the shortstop area. i was wearing jeans and had my tape recorder in one of my backpockets.
in the game, i got picked off first by some old Phillie using the hidden-ball trick

Papa Johns is the worst
if your name didnt involve the best basketball player ever, i would challenge you to a duel for bashing papa johns
May 6th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Papa Johns isn’t very good. But the last time I had Dominos (albeit before this makeover) it was so much worse.
Every small or medium sized city has to have at least one local spot or chain that is decent, right?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Made more accurate.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
This.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Pretty meh. Did love the inclusion of Maria Bello from A History Of Violence though.

when I studied abroad in England for a semester, a chick in my class “developed” an accent. but only when she talked to locals. pretty sure she had some issues upstairs.

Preview for AMC’s next drama, Hell On Wheels. Fans of the Western genre should enjoy.

Wow.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
I don’t really have a problem with papa johns. Pizza hut is what I don’t like. crappy pizza and over-priced.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
I like Papa Johns. Great crust.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
Duckworth’d maybe……
I heard Gus Johnson has parted ways with CBS. That sucks.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
this guy caught the northern lights on a flight using timelapse
also, ryan kesler seems to be making up for lost time. againts the bhawks he hadn;t scored a goal in 20-some playoff games; now he’s scored 2 or 3 in the past week
May 6th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
I could probably get 5 different gluten free pizza’s, which are pure evil, but not a single decent grease covered pile of heaven.
And Papa Johns is the worst. I’d rather eat vegetables.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:05 AM
If he is back, it’ll only be because there may not be a better candidate to take that job. And I would imagine he would have a short leash if they started slowly next year.
The Caps job would be considered a good job, too, with the talent that team has.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
Maria Bello from A History Of Violence
she and the movie, great on both counts
i see a list of top 20 MILFs every day here in the burbs of chicago, in one of the wealthiest counties in the country, and as a mr. mom, i get the bonus playgroup, playground action too, not just weekend
May 6th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
“The Godfather” was one of those few times where the movie was far better than the book.
And if they make this prequel novel into a movie, the casting will be heavily scrutinized.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
I could probably get 5 different gluten free pizza’s, which are pure evil, but not a single decent grease covered pile of heaven.
whole foods has pretty good pizza, and i even tried a vegan pizza, with whatever they use to make cheese. it wasn;t bad, the substitute cheese had a mustardy bite that was good
May 6th, 2011 at 9:10 AM
You are not looking forward to seeing Shia Lebeouf play the godfather?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:10 AM
Sounds like a premise for Charlie Sheen’s next TV foray.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Just the thought of that gives me agita.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
of course. I go with Papa Murphys now and just bring home a pie and doctor it up to my own liking.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
She must take a lot of bad photos because I’ve only seen one attractive picture of her.
The key to Papa John’s is the garlic butter dipping sauce. Smother the pizza in the sauce and it actually tastes good.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
Vez, Kesler wasn’t utilized in the first round with the goal of providing offense. His job was to shut down Toews, something he excelled at.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
I’m going to get shouted down by the majority on here, but for some reason I kind of prefer our local hole-in-the-wall Pizza Hut (not one of those KenTacoHut places – the old school actual restaurant). It’s dirt cheap, lots of options for crusts/toppings, and least the pizza comes out the same way every time.
Plus, the retaining wall outside the place has a mural of sports stars from when the restaurant opened. Nothing like looking out the window and seeing the likes of Larry Bird, MJ, Doug Drabek and all those “great” 80′s Steelers.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Omaha is decent-sized yet it’s a terrible pizza city. A lot of locals have their favorite family-owned place, but they’re kidding themselves if they think it’s actually that good.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
The Caps are going to can Boudreau. The organization just doesn’t have a history of making rash decisions, and they’re certainly not going to fire him through the media after the GM is asked directly about his job status. He should be fired in a few days.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Not this stupid shit again. Get over yourselves, superfans.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
Thats a bad pic of her.
texans go back to sleep. i have not seen one bad pic of her
May 6th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Spencer, if you’re around… The waffle sandwich is back at DD! I’m holding one right now!!!
May 6th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
“The Godfather” was one of those few times where the movie was far better than the book.
I still thought the book was better, it went into Luca’s and Johnny Fontaine’s story more, told what happened to the guys that raped the mortician’s daughter, etc.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
Makes sense to me. Any thought as to who they might hire next?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Vez, Kesler wasn’t utilized in the first round with the goal of providing offense. His job was to shut down Toews, something he excelled at.
well, you know i acknoweldged that at that other three-letter place, but even so, for a scorer like him the 20 games before the bhawks series stick out, no? he couldn;t have been used to shut down other teams’ top guys in every series. then again, the past two/three years, their only playoff games were against the bhawks just about
May 6th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Spencer, if you’re around… The waffle sandwich is back at DD! I’m holding one right now!!!
LMAO, this site is great.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
I’m going to get shouted down by the majority on here, but for some reason I kind of prefer our local hole-in-the-wall Pizza Hut
I agree on this, plus their jalapeños are some of the hottest ones I’ve had
May 6th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Pizza discussion? YAY!
Big fan of Papa Murphy’s now. There’s a new mom and pop take and bake by me too. Going to have to try it. SG… Where do you generally order your pizza from? I’m a Pequods guy, the one on Clybourn.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Yep.
/Minsky’s FTW
May 6th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
There’s this old, retired guy who always walks the neighborhood for his exercise. He’s rather crotchedy, and constantly yells at everyone (including me) for driving too fast, for having dogs that bark, etc. He once threatened to sue me for my house after my dog, when she was a puppy, went running toward him.
Anyway, I was working in the garage yesterday afternoon when I watched this bastard stop at my neighbor’s house, look both ways to check for traffic, unzip his pants and then piss in their shrubs. I yelled at him and he denied it, saying he was just looking at their flowers.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Spencer, if you’re around… The waffle sandwich is back at DD! I’m holding one right now!!!
how good is that? i get an erection from the commercials,so i am willing to bet its solid
May 6th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
I honestly can’t recall the last time I’ve ever had Dominos/Pizza Hut. It has to be a dozen plus years. We have so many good small pizza places around where I grew up it was insane. Plus I can always drive down to Philly to get the pizza slice that is the literally a half of a large pizza.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
There was entirely too much Lucy Mancini in the book. And of the doctor that fixed up her vagina. That was just cruft in the story arc as far as I was concerned that was (appropriately) shunted aside for the movie.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
That War Dog gallery is awesome. If I tried to get one of my dogs to jump out of a plane with me, they’d give me the “go fuck yourself” look.

May 6th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
This, any pizza that has to be dipped in some garlicky gimmick to be edible is immediately removed from good pizza consideration. IMO best chain pizza is donatos
May 6th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Roeth- that’s gross. In some states, that gets you on a sex offender list.
Menarky- if God had a breakfast sandwich, this would be it. There even have it in blueberry waffle now!
May 6th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
If anyone is ever in Brussels and has a yearning for American food, there is a Pizza Hut there. Most I ever paid for one pizza (€12 euros, which XE.com tells me = about $17.50, plus like €2 for a drink) but it was deliciously greasy and holy shit there were free refills, a concept that does not exist anywhere in Europe.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
This. All of this.
I would make pizza at home, using store bought shells, pizza sauce, and cheese, before I ordered from either Domino’s or Pizza Hut.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:24 AM

May 6th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
Roeth that is fucking hilarious.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
This guy deserves to get hit by a bus.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
Can’t agree more. I did like the detail on McCluskey more in the book (Fordham grad), however the first two movies are far superior to the book.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
Vez, Kesler’s career high in goals prior to this year was 26. A slump of 20 games, which, as you mentioned, 13 in a row were against the Hawks, doesn’t surprise me.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
Mantis- I have to ask… Is there anywhere that does a Philly Cheesesteak pizza? Because the thought just crossed my mind that if there is, it could be awesome.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
You gonna adjust that total when the 2010 season is vacated?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
Team Little Caesar
May 6th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
I feel bad for Bruce Boudreau. But you can’t fire Nik Backstrom, Alexander Semin and Mike Green.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
I know they think highly of their AHL coach Mark French, but I’m not sure if they’d stay within the organization if Bruce got canned. I like going the AHL route personally because a lot of good head coaches got their start there (Bylsma, Babcock, Carlysle, Boucher off the top of my head), and I don’t see any available retreads who I’d want at the helm. Hiring a Hitchcock or a Keenan would just be asking for trouble.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
Makes sense to me. Any thought as to who they might hire next?
Mactavish (though sounds like he’s near the top of the list for the Wild job) or Hitchcock.
/glares at SC
May 6th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
I ordered Dominos once after the new marketing campaign started. It was significantly better than before, but not good enough for me to order it again.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
Donatos is alright. but, Their sauce is way too much like Spaghettio’s. Also they used Romeo Crennel as a pitchman.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
SC – I think I’ve had Pequods before but it’s not close enough to me that I can get it delivered. I usually do D’Agostino’s or Giordano’s thin crust.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
my old dog (pictured to the right) gives me that look when I tell her to jump out of the truck.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:28 AM

May 6th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
I also like Art of Pizza
May 6th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
Hiring a Hitchcock or a Keenan would just be asking for trouble.
Keenan – yes, Hitchcock – no. They need a stronger authoritarian voice in there and Hitchcock can be that guy, not sure someone without prior NHL experience is going to be able to capture the attention of the players in that room.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
thanks zeus
May 6th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
We have a bunch of places locally (PGH) that attempt to make a “Philly” pizza. The best one is this wing joint called Dino’s. They lay the beef on dough first, then add the cheese, with peppers/onions/etc. as the toppings. It comes out looking like a vegetable pizza and then you bite in to find the beefy goodness.
/i know – it’s not the same as a true Philly style
May 6th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
Maybe value wise. But not quality wise.
The NCAA could vacate the past 10 years and I wouldn’t give a shit. Just lay off the the scholarships and post season ban.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
I would make pizza at home, using store bought shells, pizza sauce, and cheese, before I ordered from either Domino’s or Pizza Hut.
I do the same, but sometimes it’s the convenience and not having all the ingredients right then and there.
Oh, and Bennie Tudino’s in Hoboken is the shit.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
LaRosa’s pizza get’s my vote as best chain. One of the best meatlovers pizza’s I’ve ever had.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
the $5 hot and ready is a fine deal. unfortunately they don’t have little ceasars around here anymore.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
Agreed on Backstrom. He’s disappeared from the playoffs since Game 4 of the MTL series last year. I thought Semin did okay this year, but you know his deal (consistently inconsistent). It wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to move Semin and/or Green, especially since they have Wideman under contract next year. They’d likely try to move Semin first, though.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:31 AM
Yes. Kids eat that shit up though and you can’t beat $5
May 6th, 2011 at 9:31 AM
Those three are the “key” for the failure of the Caps in the playoffs the past few years. Green could be the most overrated player in the league.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:31 AM
I live in Italy across the street from a Napolitano pizza place that is delicious. However, it’s just not sufficiently greasy, not even close actually.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:32 AM
Loved all of the basketball “analysis” on the Mike Greenburg show this morning, which consisted of no actual basketball analysis but plenty of talk about what Bynum’s comments really mean, and Chris Broussard and Jalen Rose rating the last 8 teams chances of winning the championship. I’ve never actually heard Broussard say one thing about the actual strategic part of basketball. But it was all good because I flipped over to 660 and got to hear Chris Christie and that douche Carton yucking it up. Hate morning sports talk radio… give me the Shmooze all day.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:32 AM
Your right or my right?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:32 AM
Ahem. Break up the Tribe.
/That is all.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:33 AM
I think the Domino’s campaign was a good idea, but it quickly jumped the shark when they started holding their “focus groups” in the middle of the farm or inside a Domino’s store. Yeah, like you couldn’t tell you were inside a Domino’s just because they put the sign down, and I guess the fake black wall kept them from smelling the putrid Domino’s store smell.
To me:
Going home and baking a Papa Murphy’s pizza >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Domino’s and Papa John’s combined
May 6th, 2011 at 9:33 AM
Badger- not Ian’s? Because we have one in Chicago now. Madison’s finest!
SG- Art of Pizza is great. First time I had Dags was at Wrigley.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:33 AM
I have seen it. Usually it’s ok, but not as good as a cheesesteak. The key ingreidant is the steak. Has to be really good sirloin. And the best cheesesteak is Provolone with onions.
/lets drop a food grenade
May 6th, 2011 at 9:33 AM
Making your own crust is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I usually do that, then pick up prosciutto, fresh basil, portobello, bocconcini and either use crushed tomatoes or fresh made pesto for sauce.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
Also, I don’t know a truly great pizza joint in Baton Rouge, but when I lived in Columbia, MO, Shakespeare’s was the shit.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
Truth.
I wish there was a pizza place that stayed open until 3:00am here. I’d be ordering that shit every weekend. I turn into a garbage disposal when I drink.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:35 AM
IMO best chain pizza is donatos
they don’t always cook their za enough for my taste. if i get a thin crust pie, i want it to be crispy.

I shun the generic pizza chains (Papa John’s etc.) especially since I now live in the Northeast, but at least they deliver the pies to your house. Nothing beats that.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
I’m fucking hungry now.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
I was blown away that Chad Dirt Durbin didn’t lose the game. Do you think Pure Rage Perez may be getting tired? His pitches have been all over the place lately.

there’s a pretty good beer crust recipe out there that takes about 30 minutes to rise, and if you pick the right beer it’s amazing.
wife and i make pizza once a week on Fridays. use left over chicken breast, marinated in a nice hot sauce, cheddar jack cheese, bbq sauce, shaved blue cheese and a couple slices of ripped up pepperoni….mmmm can’t wait ’til i get home tonight.

If you like listening to a guy who pretends he knows a lot about sports…
May 6th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
For me, it depends on where I’m getting the cheesesteak.
If it’s one of my local places, I go provolone, mushrooms, and onions.
If it’s one of the stops at 9th and Passyunk (usually because I’m out with out of towners or out drinking), I go to Geno’s. At those places, I go with whiz and onions. Except at Tony Luke’s, where the cheesesteaks are good, but not as good as their other sandwiches.

I think someone might end up signing Brooks Laich. Anyone think Arnott will be back?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
there is a place here that serves til 4:00 or so, but you pretty much have to be drunk to eat it. terrible, terrible stuff.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
Which I’m typically good with, until they start charging a fucking fee for it. Fuck that noise. I live 5-10 minutes from all the pizza joints I order from. I’ll just go get it and not wait for your driver to dick around for 40 minutes while it gets cold. Fuck your fee.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
The article on the guy getting fucked by the State of Texas after they wrongfully incarcerated him is sickening. Texas can get fucked.
Read it. Can’t say I’m surprised. Anyone see the Daily Show the other night where they had that loon who’s in charge of what goes into the textbooks in TX?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
All I did while in Brussels was drink beer. I loved that city. It was up t here with Amsterdam in terms of how cool it was.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Yes. I love how he wouldn’t admit that his goal is to put religion into textbooks. I disagree with that ideology, but have the chops to say what you want to do and not dance around it.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
I typed that as if I was sitting inside the computer. that last drink of bourbon last night has me a wee bit foggy this morning.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
He’s had 3 rough outings in the last 10 days. Might be a little tired, but I think they’ve used him wisely. They need to win a couple games big to give him a couple of days off.
Durbin pitched well yesterday, which floored me.
I would fully expect to see Germano today, solely because everyone else has been needed over the last 4-5 days.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
Love Ian’s, but I guess I wouldn’t have considered that a “chain”. Had no idea they opened up in Chicago. If you like mac and cheese, give that slice a try, good stuff.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
Yes. I love how he wouldn’t admit that his goal is to put religion into textbooks. I disagree with that ideology, but have the chops to say what you want to do and not dance around it.
Yeah, the guy was a pro at dodging the real questions Stewart was asking him. I’ll give him that. He, unlike Jim Cramer, managed to not look like a complete an utter fool, even though he didn’t really answer any questions to anyone’s satisfaction.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
ha, i don’t get the czabe hate. did he push a shopping cart into your car one time or something?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
You can glare all you want but I will maintain it’s really not Boudreau’s fault. You did the research, so I respect the opinion. All I’m saying is that it’s not like Boudreau didn’t make any adjustments. The team was faulted for its lack of defense and he completely revamped their style to compensate for that. It worked well enough to get them from in the tank in December to the #1 seed in April.
Let’s be honest here… Boudreau isn’t the primary problem, he’s the scapegoat and I totally understand that.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
I think someone might end up signing Brooks Laich.
Hopefully a team in the Western Conference wearing blue and orange.
Anyone think Arnott will be back?
Not for $4.5M.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Loved all of the basketball “analysis” on the Mike Greenburg show this morning
big, big mistake listening to that assdick. i really dislike him more than any personality
May 6th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
I don’t know about where you live, but all the distinctive-looking Pizza Huts around here have shut down, and now they’re all part of these tacky Pizza Hut/Taco Bell hybrid stores.
I don’t know if it still tastes similar, but I have issues with ordering pizza in a place that is part of a Taco Bell. Pepsi killed it for me.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
ha, i don’t get the czabe hate. did he push a shopping cart into your car one time or something?
I used to like him, but like I said somewhere in the comments yesterday… he was on in Milwaukee as the local morning radio show’s sports guy, and they just went completely political… also, he really doesn’t know ANYTHING about baseball or basketball. The “I’m just a guys guy – I like beer and boobs” shtick wore a little thin on me I guess.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
Wally
This is gonna be a tough weekend with facing Weaver and Haren. Need Choo and Smooth to snap out of it to give Fausto, White and Masterson some run support.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
I’ve never even had it in Madison, just here. Normally I don’t like pies with goofy shit like mac and cheese on them, but at 2 am in Wrigleyville, it’s a great idea. There’s a place in Wicker Park by where I used to live called Crust that has a similar menu. I went there once sober and never went back. Those types are only for the booze fueled.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
i’ve read about him before, unfortunately, people like that are the one reason i’m hesitant to move to texas.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:45 AM

May 6th, 2011 at 9:45 AM

no, we do the screwing. thats just fact.
really though, people who served time and were later found innocent should be handsomely compensated by the state.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
Love Ian’s, but I guess I wouldn’t have considered that a “chain”. Had no idea they opened up in Chicago. If you like mac and cheese, give that slice a try, good stuff.
There’s one over on the East Side in Milwaukee too now, I believe.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
When I’m drinking and I’m in the city, I definitely go for Geno’s. I remember back in ’02 going to a party at LaSalle and going down to Geno’s at 5am and then running up the Art Museum steps and drunk dialing our buddy who was hooking up with an absolute skank.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
i’ve read about him before, unfortunately, people like that are the one reason i’m hesitant to move to texas.
if you think we are all like that, than dont waste your time and stay out.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
I’ve always wondered… do Philly folks consider mushrooms to be a standard ingredient on a cheesesteak? There’s a place here called Philly’s Best that has the best cheesesteak in the city. Guy that owns it is Philly born and raised, there’s pictures all over the location on Belmont of him delivering to news anchors in Philly and locations like Ben Franklin’s house. They don’t serve mushrooms on their steaks. Just white American cheese, onions and steak.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
Let’s be honest here… Boudreau isn’t the primary problem, he’s the scapegoat and I totally understand that.
He’s the captain (admiral?) of a ship that flamed out of the playoffs 4 years in a row. Has to be considered one of a number of primary reasons. As much as Caps fans might wish it, no one is taking Green or Semin off their hands for $5.25M and $6.7M cap hits respectively, so they are left with really only one option.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
People like Clown deter me. I couldn’t handle hearing “Hook Em” after every Texas softball win or every time some shitty football player gets drafted 2 round too high only to go suicidal (looking at you, Vince Young).
May 6th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
i’ve read about him before, unfortunately, people like that are the one reason i’m hesitant to move to texas.
I shouldn’t be the one to talk, as I live in Atlanta – the McMansion capital of the United States – but my trips to Dallas and Houston left me very unimpressed. They just seemed flat, hot, and culture-less. Unless you count the filthy rich and the dumb blondes in Dallas as culture.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
Should the Caps consider moving one of their young goalies? I would stick with Holtby and Neuvirth.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
haha, no i know not everyone is like that, however, i’m very strongly against the whole religion taught in school issue so I’m wary when text books are introduced containing that kind of info no matter the state.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
I also lived in Huntsville, TX. And literally the only people who weren’t like that were the professors at Sam Houston State.
/they came from somewhere else
//the people from Houston were pretty cool

you never really get used to it, although it is almost a sport to call out over the top ut douches. an easy sport, like tee ball.

I used to work in Buckhead and would dive down Mt. Paran Rd. and Tuxedo Drive (Arthur Blanks’ hood) and there were always tons of huge mansions for sale. The same ones were up for sale the entire time I worked there. They never came off of the market. Great looking houses, though.

I’d consider doing the same. Varlamov is injury prone and an RFA, Neuvirth and Holtby are signed for at least 2 years for reasonable money. Hope Varlamov likes winters in Magnitogorsk.

May 6th, 2011 at 9:53 AM
This made me laugh.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:53 AM
Green has two years left and is an RFA after that. I agree with Vlad, there’s definitely a buyer out there for a deal like that. Just a matter of what kind of return the Caps could get for him.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:54 AM

well, yeah. not a good sample city. texas has just about every terrain, activity, and city out there. dallas and houston may not be as naturally pretty as california or pittsburgh, but they are great places to live and they have just about everything you need.
and the women are second to none.

Wow, really?
With all the hockey discussion here, I’ll ask the experts if Lou Lamoriello has lost his mojo, or it’s an aging Marty and a dearth of young talent, or all of the above?
May 6th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
Probably my favorite pizza topping that isn’t a cured meat
May 6th, 2011 at 9:56 AM

One year and then RFA. Teams will be scared off by the injuries.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:56 AM

Yeah, if Austin’s anything like Madison, I think I’d very much enjoy living there. So my blanket statement of hate for the entire state of Texas is retracted until I get a chance to visit Austin. Although, my roommate was there last summer, and he said it was awesome, but not as awesome as everyone made it out to be. Could be that he went there in the middle of summer and it was 105 degrees.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:56 AM

The Devils has one priority above all else this offseason… SIGN ZACH PARISE. Lou hasn’t lost anything but that contract for Kovalchuk was definitely not his idea. As for Marty, the sun is definitely setting on his career. He won’t walk away from $5.2M next season but after that, I think he hangs up the pads.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
no, but luckily i’m in the computer resale business and my company has a branch down there…also the product I specialize in is based in Austin.

side of mushrooms with a steak. Delicious.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
I’ll ask the experts if Lou Lamoriello has lost his mojo, or it’s an aging Marty and a dearth of young talent, or all of the above?
Very unlucky in the first half of the season, I don’t think you can conclude Lou is finished after the tear they went on in the second half (without significant player movement).
Marty is certainly on the downside of his career, but is only signed for one more year. Also, Devils ‘won’ the draft lottery and moved up to the #4 pick in this summer’s draft.
I’ll wait and see what they do in terms of a coach and with Parise, but I’d be surprised if they aren’t a playoff team next year.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
Totally. I actually golfed with Dream (yes, that’s his name) and I had no clue who he was. I was googling him while riding in the cart because I didn’t believe the shit he was telling me. He said he lived on WPF near the governor and shit like that. Found out it was him. Not a bad golfer. Teed up the ball like it was going out of style, though.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
It’s one thing to not like mushrooms, but let not pretend that the concept of steak and mushrooms, together, is foreign or anything.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Austin was my favorite place in Texas. Least favorite: Bryan/College Station. It was a big Huntsville.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
I made a really tasty mushroom sauce for chicken the other night. Mushrooms, shallots and garlic reduced in white wine and chicken stock.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
When I got out for steak, I don’t order steak without sauteed mushrooms.
/totally going out for steak now tomorrow night
May 6th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Ugh, that Kovalchuk contract was the worst.
To me the best non-meat topping on a pizza or anything for that matter are jalapeños.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
I agree with this.
I’ll also surmise that once Marty is gone, Lou may go with him.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
really though, people who served time and were later found innocent should be handsomely compensated by the state.
technically, no, tho we all sympathize. unless there was some sort of skullduggery by prosecutors or police, it’s just our justice system not getting it right.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
I can’t stand the taste of mushrooms. although I did like the effects of them back in the day.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
It’s not a standard ingredient at all. I will add them if I go to the pizza place by my parents to have a cheesesteak. However if I go to Tony Luke’s, Geno’s, Pat’s or Delassandro, no mushrooms. Have to go traditional and stay with the onions and cheese.
/loves mushrooms with steak and in general

So you don’t think a person who is wrongly convicted of a crime, spends years (a decade plus in this case) should be compensated for lost earnings, etc? All they should get is a “my bad?” Interesting take.

I didn’t even know she had a new book coming out! I will probably get it only because I need something to read. The last book kinda sucked. I feel like Charlaine Harris is just recycling the same story lines over and over. She has to be bored with having Sookie confused about who she should date. I know I’m bored with it.

I’m with you, the last couple have had lots of buildup with no real payoff at the end. I’m tired of the characters, hope it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the show when it comes back.

So you don’t think a person who is wrongly convicted of a crime, spends years (a decade plus in this case) should be compensated for lost earnings, etc? All they should get is a “my bad?” Interesting take.
first of all, i typed ‘technically’. as opposed to emotionally. what i’m on about is who is at fault? since no one really is, why should the government pay. silly, but why not the jurors? the prosecutors or defense, for not convincing the jury. are you saying the govt is to blame because our justice system sometimes gets it wrong?
of course it’s a sucky situation for the inacrecerated, i cannot imagine a worse real-life nightmare than false imprisonment. but as i said, when i’m considering who compensates the person, i’m looking for whose fault was it?
May 6th, 2011 at 10:25 AM

The state prosecuted him, so they state should pay for doing so wrongly.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
